Welcome!

Hello, Patrik Putz NNG, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited was NNG (company), which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Dear Captain Conundrum,

Thank you for your message regarding NNG’s article on Wikipedia.

I am really sorry that you found my latest change to the article inappropriate. I work for the company, but in line with your and our ethical code I do/did disclose this very fact in order to grant maximum transparency.

As this has also been recognized in your policies: „A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.” , please let me know if it is still needed to change my username, or which protocoll to follow.

One more individual is using my account login at times when I am not able to edit, but the content is always checked and authorized. If sharing the user account between myself and another person poses an issue, please do let me know, and we will cease this process.

Following to your message and the above, I can still not see why the whole NNG article has been shut down from the Wikipedia site. The edits I recently made reflect important and factual changes of the company, and were written in a totally neutral way, without any advertisements or product promotions, to be fully in line with Wikipedia policies.

The name of the company, or the logo that were on the previous article do not exist any longer, and we had to reflect these important changes on the article. Still, today, the NNG article is not on Wikipedia for readers to check facts and information.

Please let me know what the quickest way would be to restore the NNG article on Wikipedia. I would be happy to send you drafts of the edited wording in the future, to ensure that the changes I will want to make are in line with your policies and protocolls. I would also be happy to receive your thoughts on how we can make NNG’s presence on wikipedia of the most objective and neutral.

With hopes that we will mutually enjoy editing and that I can be a true wikipedian and a regular contributor, I look forward to your feedback on the above.

Hello Patrik. The article was deleted by an administrator because it was judged to be blatant WP:SPAM. To answer your question about shared accounts, the answer is no, they're not permitted on Wikipedia. More info on this can be found at Wikipedia:Username_policy#Shared_accounts. Please wait for someone not connected with your company to write about it. If it's notable, then someone will get to it eventually. Thanks, Captain Conundrum (talk) 10:15, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello Patrick, and welcome to Wikipedia.
The next time you want to directly talk to someone, it will be better to contact them at their talk page, so they would notice. For example, my talk page is at User talk:TheOriginalSoni, and to send me a message, you use the "New section" button at the top.
I think your username is ok, and you should be fine on that.
And no. Wikipedia is strictly against sharing of accounts, even if you trust the other person. I suggest the other person makes an account of his own. Also, it will be prudent to announce the same on both your accounts, as it might be likely that anyone thinks you might be using two accounts (Another strict no here)
The problem is that your article was created in our mainspaces, where all articles exist. Which would mean all policies related to articles applied to them, and if they failed one of the major ones of them, the page would get deleted very quickly. Which I think is what happened.
I've got your article back at User:Patrik Putz NNG/sandbox through an admin, so it wont get deleted if you want to work on it. Unless there are gross violations of Wikipedia guidelines that is.
We also look forward to come good and healthy editing from you. For now, just add {{subst:submit}} at the end of your article if you think it is good enough. Someone will review your article in a few days once you do so.
Finally, to use your signature, you require a ~~~~, annd not how you typed it.
Hope this helped. Feel free to contact again if you have any further questions.

Hello TheOriginalSoni,

Thank you so much for getting the article back at User:Patrik Putz NNG/sandbox. In the meantime I did some homework on Wikipedia guidelines. However, I am not sure yet how to proceed. Maybe you can help me with that?

  • I am still wondering why the article was deleted - instead of just removing my latest changes. As far as I can tell, the article on NNG existed for quite some time before I started editing it a few days ago.
  • Meanwhile someone (not me) re-published an older version of the article at NNG (company).
  • Now there are two different versions of the article, one in the mainspace and one in my sandbox, but both are lacking the version history (which is – as I just learned – important to maintain the license requirements).

I find this confusing. Could you please help me to find the best way to move forward? Maybe someone could undelete the article including its history in the mainspace - with an older version that is not considered “spam”? I could then use the talk page to discuss improvements. Does that make sense?

Thanks a lot, I look forward to hearing back from you. Patrik Putz NNG (talk) 07:44, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello,
  • Usually when an article is very problematic, as was the case here, its plain deleted rather than save a still-potentially-problematic article. I think the article, even before your editing, was not following wikipedia guidelines, which would have led to deleting it.
  • The article is now deleted again. If its someone you might know, I suggest you ask them to desist from doing that, as it might cause problems to your article's review (Articles deleted again and again tend to be among our worst articles).
  • There is no "requirement" for the version history. What is much more important is for the article to meet Wikipedia guidelines, failing which it's usually deleted. The best approach for you right now is to work on your sandbox article, and submit it for review by adding a {{subst:submit}} to the top of the article when you think it has met all our major policies. Then another experienced editor will review the article, and accept or reject it based on whether it still has any problems. You can then work on fixing those problems, and resubmit it for review. That way, you wont have a lot of worries on whether or not it will be deleted again.
  • Hope this helped,
