If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Patriotwebsite.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Valenciano (talk) 19:53, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

June 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen (Patriotwebsite) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Patriotwebsite.com Article Creation[edit]

I have been tasked with the creation of the wikipedia entry for patriotwebsite.com. Being new to this my first attempt had failed based on certain policies. I had used an article from another website listed on wikipedia as a guide. Again, being new I was unaware of the sandbox at the time I submitted the page to go live, so I will be reposting the original information in my sandbox.

However if someone can please give me some insight as to the reason for the "speedy deletion" stated as "the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant". The article was written as a discription of the website, the opinions of the creators and the features it offered. I am not sure how that differs from any other article describing a website or organization. The COI terms as I read them does not expressly forbid the posting of material by those that are close to the source. Per the suggestion of the terms I attempted to make a posting on this talk page stating that I was an interested party and welcoming the editing of others, but (I assume) one of these messages were posted while I was and my post got lost. It was suggested that choose a different user id to show some separation, which I am fine with. Again being new and looking at other pages and the way the images were named, I had assumed that the user name was part of the naming convention.

For the admins, if you can please look at the content in the sandbox and provide pointers of what I had done wrong I would be appreciative.

I'll be happy to tell you how the website does not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines - especially as something that is "upcoming". However, you must deal with your username violation by visiting WP:UNC. You must also realize, however, that even by changing your username, you will have too much WP:COI to be permitted to create the article about the website. If your "boss" tasked you to create it, then they must not have ever used or understood the purpose of Wikipedia (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:00, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
