Antoni/Antonio Maura Montaner[edit]

Hi, Could you please provide sources that justify your renaming of the "Antonio Maura y Montaner" article to "Antoni Maura Montaner" [1]? Hi again. According to this, the "most commonly used name in English" is always preferred. Being Mr. Maura a politician from the beginning of the 20th Century, he's unlikely to be popular in today's media. So I checked reference works and google's English-language media archive. In the first case, both Britannica and Columbia use "Antonio Maura y Montaner". As anecdotal evidence, I also did some browsing in my library. Payne uses "Antonio Maura" ("The Franco Regime, 1936-1975", The University of Wisconsin Press, 1987, ISBN 0299110702). For the English-language media, a quick search on google's news archive produces only "Antonio Maura."

Note that your arguments can also be used to support the use of "Antonio Maura:"

on the origin: Spanish is also spoken in Majorca. Mr. Maura's family may have Spanish speakers, or just preferred the Spanish-language form.
on the foundation, there's also a Fundación Antonio Maura, but this one was created by his family, which sort of supports the use of the Spanish name.

Well, there's not too much I can say. I find your arguments varying between the specious (whether Mr. Maura's mother language was Catalan, which you haven't provide evidence for, doesn't mean he was Christened using the Catalan form, or that he preferred it to the Spanish form) and the ludicrously irrelevant: Spain may or not respect language minorities more than other countries (I'd argue she does, at least more than the average Western European country). But, this is by no means a valid argument in this discussion. Finally, you should elaborate what you mean by "spanish (sic) [not being] the own language of the island."

Anyway, I'm having doubts we're going to reach any agreement here, so let's not waste more of my time or your time. I sent a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves, and copied my arguments to Talk:Antoni Maura Montaner. You may want to provide your POV in the latter.

I am only really involved in football editing, but I would say that it should be universal - after all, categories are meant to be accurate, and seeing as both regional and national categories ate accurate, they should both be used. Stephanachne[edit]

Bona tarda. I don't think A3 is appropriate, that's intended for articles with no real content. Although this is a very short stub, it has genuine content, if only in terms of this grass's taxonomic placement. On en-wiki, we decided that all credible species are notable by definition, so the English article couldn't be deleted on those grounds either. There are many animal articles on en-wiki created by a bot that basically created a taxobox, added a line or two of text and a reference. They all stay, although obviously many have been subsequently improved.

Obviously you are not bound by the English Wikipedia's consensus, let alone my opinion. All I can say is that even I, a self-confessed deletionist, wouldn't speedy, prod or AfD a short stub for an extent species, although I might tag it for improvement

Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)[edit]

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Hi, you blocked the above user at ca.wiki a couple of days ago for "Abusos reincidents". I'm not quite sure what that means (socking?). In any event, the user started editing here on September 21. Putting aside some disruptive WP:GAMING edits they made to get autoconfirmed, they have focused mostly on promoting Motxila 21 and all 15 members of the band. Hi, user:Bbb23. "Abusos reincidents" means aproximately socking. This user seems to be a teenager that has been self-promoting and writing articles about maths without knowing catalan like ca:MatemAbril, ca:Acció de juliol , ca:Onofre Monzó, ca:Societat d'Educació Matemática Al-Khwarizmi, ca:Federació Espanyola de Societats de Professors de Matemàtiques, ca:Javier Gómez Serrano, ca: Dia Escolar de les Matemàtiques, ca:Problema 2 IMO 2011 , ca:Geoff Smith, ca:Federació d'Entitats per l'Ensenyament de les Matemàtiques a Catalunya, ca:Bernat Ancochea Millet, ca:Sociedad Navarra de Profesores de Matemáticas Tornamira, ca:Fòbia a les matemàtiques, ca:Blas Méndez and ca:Adrián Macías. Some of the other puppets I have blocked are ca:User:Marigraciel, ca:User:Garimani, ca:Cantorparadise and ca:User:Remitbuber. My guess is that this kid is ca:Nicolás Atanes Santos, promoter of ca:Virus Matemático.

Thanks so much! I am familiar with this sockmaster. However, this focus on that group and their members is, as far as I know, completely new.
