December 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Category:Chinese-language education do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 02:58, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Melnyks Chinese has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Promotional page for unremarkable website and podcast. Only ref is to a download link, external links include proper coverage but to articles that only mention it and a blog post.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 08:12, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your feedback[edit]

I can understand your frustration. If you can provide citations in reliable sources demonstrating the article subject's notatbility that may help. See below for how to insert citations:

There is a "Cite" toolbar at the top of the edit window which allows you to automatically generate the required wiki code.

You click one of the templates, e.g. "book", and fill in the details.

More information can be found in Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or the citations tutorial (the below video will play best in Firefox or Chrome):

Hope this helps,

Thank you, Ariconte, I learned something from your posting above. --DThomsen8 (talk) 23:32, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A belated welcome![edit]

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, PaulXX. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! DThomsen8 (talk) 23:24, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New articles[edit]

Rather than edit in the mainspace, it is best to create new articles on your talk page in a subpage, and get the whole article well developed before moving it to production Wikipedia. You should especially make sure you have inline citations properly done. Melnyks Chinese was hit with an AfD early on, but it would have been better if well developed before you put it in the mainspace. --DThomsen8 (talk) 23:29, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
