Image tagging for Image:Thrice.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Thrice.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Your VandalProof Application

Dear Pbroks13,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that at this time you do not meet the minimum requirement of 250 edits to mainspace articles (see under main here). Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. --frothT 18:30, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Fair Use

Please do not add album images to stand-alone galleries with little information. Wikipedia does not allow users to add such images without getting proper consent from the album's copyright holder. See WP:FUC and WP:FU for further information. --  ShadowJester07  ►Talk  04:41, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Pbroks13. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that: you have little experience vandal fighting. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. Prodego talk 20:25, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

It is no trouble at all, thanks for bringing your concerns forward. The reason that we like applicants to have some experience in anti-vandal patrol is twofold. Firstly, it is inevitable that new vandal patrollers will make some mistakes as they learn, and while someone eventually points any mistakes out to them, with VP it is possible to affect a large number of users before this is noticed. Secondly, VP is geared to people who understand the terminology used in vandal patrol; it often abbreviates terms and such. Some manual RC patrol, or patrol with less intensive tools is enough to familiarize users with these things. You certainly meet any other requirements, I don't see any disruptive history, or anything like that, so if you just try out vandal patrolling with a 'starter' tool (I strongly recommend Lupin's tool, it's 'bad words' list and regexes are quite superior to any tool out there, including VP. However, it has some disadvantages, it is slow, and a bit harder to easily revert and warn with it. If you try it out, and I see you reverting only vandalism and warning the vandals with the appropriate warnings, I will be happy to approve you. Again, thanks for contacting me, Prodego talk 00:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Certainly, it was no trouble at all. Remember to warn vandals when you revert them. Happy editing! Prodego talk 21:42, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Please do not revert citated sources as you did on the Anberlin page

I regret to inform you that you are wrong

It doesn't matter if the band don't want to be considered a christian rock band, it is based on what reliable sources say. The reliable sources which YOU deleted. If you do it again you will violate the Wikipedia:Three-revert rule and be blocked. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hoponpop69 (talkcontribs) 04:21, 7 May 2007 (UTC).

Please adhere to sources and user consensus

You refuse to let us list Christian rock on the Anberlin page, despite users agreeing upon it, and having 3 sources for it. Your only argument against it is that the band does not call themselves that, which is not a valid point since wikipedia does not use first party information.Hoponpop69 01:03, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Check the talk page and you'll see I'm not the sole person who came to this conclusion. Furthermore for the milionth time what the band says they are does not hold any weight in this discussion. They could claim to be a Norwegian Death Metal band, but that wouldn't make it true. You need a third party source. This is your last warning.Hoponpop69 17:51, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the report at WP:AIV...keep up the great anti-vandal work! Jmlk17 06:09, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my user page. =) Looks like we both got targeted by the same rather persistent vandal. Oh, joy... =\ -- Gogo Dodo 06:27, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

There appears to be an ok stub in the edit history, if we can get the vandalism to stop. I've already listed the page at RFPP, but nobody's responded yet. Speedy may not be necessary. -wizzard2k (CTD) 07:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Maxgeist

Why was he given an "only warning" after a "final warning" was already posted? As the "mental retardation" edit came after my "final warning", I've posted it to AIV. Andy Saunders 18:47, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Please warn vandals after reverting their edits.

June 2007

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made, you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Lwarf Talk! 01:57, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Your recent report to WP:AIV

Thank you for making a report about 69.45.68.212 (talk · contribs · block log) at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. Khukri 15:25, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Use of minor edits check box

Please remember to mark your edits, as you did to Family Guy as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. / edgarde 21:19, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Liar (It Takes One to Know One) EP.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Liar (It Takes One to Know One) EP.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:43, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Xdoanex_-_The_Shape_of_Videos_to_Come.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 20:30, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Wikimania in Atlanta!

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 09:27, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Fuel EP.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Fuel EP.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:23, 11 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kkmurray 03:23, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not really sure you should promote the 25ths anniversary edition of Thriller to GA, since it really ought to be merged back into Thriller, as it's simply an appendage to that article and should probably not be encouraged. --lincalinca 11:38, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Thats for that comment linca but it does need its own article, if you knew anything about special editions etc you would realise that Thriller 25 will be counted as a new album in the eyes of RIAA and the like. It will have its own individual sales figures that will NOT be added on to the 104 million counter of thriller. It contains more than 3 new songs so is a new album.

Also Pbroks13 I have made most of the changes you suggested. Would you have a look and give feed back. Yours Realist2 (talk) 22:51, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

I noticed you added {{maths rating}} to an article talk page. When you do that, please fill in the quality, importance, and field parameters. It is not necessary to tag an article just to indicate it is math; the list of mathematics articles is maintained automatically without any need for talk page tags. The only purpose of the maths rating template is to assign quality ratings to articles. — Carl (CBM · talk) 16:51, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
