Picture format

Re your edit on Garrow's Law. Surely the information required is if the picture is 4:3 standard, 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 pan and scan. 1089p (progressive) as opposed to interlaced is a transmission system and not a program format. Sky in the uk do not use it. They use 720. Televisions that are described as Full HD ie 1080 merely upscale. When watching old programs such as The Saint they should appear with two vertical black lines either side on a widescreen TV. Sky sports news is broadcast as 4:3 on sky and freeview and if the TV has automatic adjustment set it should appear with the vertical black lines unless set to zoom when it will crop the top and bottom. It is the best channel to check if your TV is set to the correct ratio (format). Also re the viewing figures, if you look at the old history I did provide a column in the episode list but another editor likes them seperate and took them out.REVUpminster (talk) 00:23, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

• My real point is that 1080p or i is a transmision system not used in America (according to the wiki page) or here because of the bandwidth required. Blueray DVD are the only compatible system where no upscaling is involved. I do a lot of episode guides and most are 35mm film and in 4/3 colour or black and white (no upscaling required) so I think it is more important with the vast number of TV programmes on the wikineeds for the ratio to be shown. Looking at the end credits there is a director of photography so is it still on film or a digital medium. It is certainly edited like a film.
