Hello, Pdtompkins. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Oceana Rain Stuart, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hello! I just wanted to explain the notice above. Artists are only included in Wikipedia if they meet the criteria at WP:NARTIST (or if they're otherwise significantly covered in independent sources, per WP:GNG). If an artist doesn't yet meet those criteria, we generally delete the page. This is in no way a referendum on how talented/exciting/moving the artist is; oftentimes it just takes time for up-and-coming artists to accumulate enough coverage to meet WP:NARTIST and support an article. If after reading the link above you feel that I've made a mistake and the artist does meet those criteria, just follow the directions above to contest the articles deletion and let me know so I don't make a similar mistake again. I hope this doesn't discourage you from contributing to Wikipedia again in the future! It's a complex place with a lot of norms and regulations, but I think you'll find it to be rewarding. If you have more questions feel free to ask here or at WP:TEAHOUSE. Happy editing! Ajpolino (talk) 14:33, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Pdtompkins. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Oceana Rain Stuart, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 20:12, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AFD discussions[edit]

Please stop pasting huge walls of text into the AFD discussion. They are not really going to help, and can be considered disruptive, which would lead to an account block. You are much better off just sitting tight and letting the discussion play out. The closing administrator takes all the arguments into account fairly. Any arguments you make will have less weight as the other editors are presumed neutral, and have edited thousands of other articles. For you, this is an important article on someone you know and whom you would like to see kept in the Wiki. For the other editors, this is the hundredth or thousandth article they have assessed at AFD. Which is to say, you do not help your position by over-arguing your point. Everyone understands your position and everyone in the discussion is also very well-equipped to assess the article and its sources. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 04:33, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the page has been deleted, I hope you are not discouraged by Wikipedia. We do have strict notability critieria and COI rules. You might have noticed that among the half-dozen impartial editors who came across the Stuart page, none stepped up to support keeping it. This is actually a reflection of the impartial quality of the wiki. In any case, you are quite a good editor! The Stuart article was well written. I hope you hang around.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 19:36, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
