Wikipedian in Residence at the National Library of Scotland

I'm just dropping you a quick note about a new Wikipedian in Residence job that's opened up at the National Library of Scotland. There're more details at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scotland#Wikimedian in Residence at the National Library of Scotland. Richard Symonds (WMUK) (talk) 15:16, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I was just wondering why you'd flagged this as "Not for Commons"? It's a CC-by licence, so I can't see what the issue is.

Thanks, Andy Dingley (talk) 18:56, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

The Network SouthEast Story

Hi there

My name's Mike Vincent and, along with Chris Green former MD ScotRail, NSE and InterCity, we are writing a book entitled 'The Network SouthEast Story' and, if you are willing we would love to use your picture of the refurbishment of Glasgow Central in May 1985 in our new book. Clearly full acknowledgement would be given in both the caption and the acknowledgements' section if you do agree. We hope that you would like to be involved with this exciting project.

If you would please let me know and also what name you would like your photo to be acknowledged under.

I really look forward to hearing from you

Warm wishes

Ardrossan

I was just thinking that I haven't seen your name here recently. Having done so, I was going to ask you whether you think my change to the Ardrossan railway station diagram is an improvement? Britmax (talk) 14:41, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Pencefn. You were good enough to help me with this a couple of years ago. Another user has disputed the line layout and looking at this it appears they are correct. --John (talk) 17:52, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Aldwych Tube Station

Dear Pencefn My name is Duncan Smith and I am a self-employed UK travel writer. I'm currently researching a new guidebook for London, which I will publish in 2015. I will include a chapter about 'ghost stations' on the Piccadilly line, including Aldwych. I would like to include a photo of the station, and see you have one here at Wikipedia. Is there a possibility of my using it in my book? I would, of course, include any copyright text you require. You can find details of my work at www.duncanjdsmith.com and www.onlyinguides.com Hoping this is the right place to reach you - and thanks for any advice you can offer. Best wishes - Duncan 62.178.191.189 (talk) 12:59, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi Duncan, I have posted a message via the contact page of your personal web site. --Stewart (talk | edits) 16:20, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

British Energy

Hi, if you'd prefer, I'd be happy to remove the EDF Energy version of the British Energy logo and keep the original if you'd prefer? I've said almost the same as this on the files for deletion page. I could withdraw the nomination and remove the newer logo quite quickly. Cloudbound (talk) 20:32, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

That is a better idea. --Stewart (talk | edits) 20:43, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Spelling

On the page about Bishop Kevin Pearson, Argyll and the Isles . . . . when you click on the photo, all instances of "Argyll" are the wrong spelling. I know I should get out more. 88.144.91.229 (talk) 20:45, 18 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! If you think you'd be interested in collaborating on this and helping reach the target quicker, please sign up and begin listing your entries there as soon as possible! Thanks.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:40, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

RDTs

Is there a reason you created so many Scottish RDTs with the specific format or the line being to the right and having a blue arrow? Were you the creator of this and could it be changed? The right alignment looks kind of odd and sometimes the blue arrow is unnecessary. Nathan A RF (talk) 19:14, 12 October 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
