The article Barry Deck has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

'This user dosen't appear to be notable, and the font he created also dosen't seem to be notable. The reason why this article has been unsourced for so long is that there aren't any to be found that are of any real value.

I has admittedly not been on the site in a long while. I was recently informed that the page I worked on for weeks to ensure guideline accuracy and high journalistic standards was worked on and changed so much recently, that it was shut down by yourself. I will admit that I am not a pro at Wikipedia authoring, but I made it work and was given a thumbs up at the time of completion. I spent days and days verifying information from various sources including the MoMA in New York City, Emigre Magazine, Ed Fella, California Institute of the Arts and Many Design History Books not available in digital format. Barry Deck is partially responsible for a watershed moment in Graphic Design, where graphic design was finally driven by content, rather than used purely as a vehicle for it. The typeface in question (Template Gothic) was declared by none other than Philip Meggs to be "the typeface of the 1990s". It was and can still be found all over the world. In magazines, TV spots, movie logos and corporate branding. In fact, Barry is said to have taken issue with the success when he saw his typeface used for subject matter he didn't support, like porn and political campaigns in other countries. Your assessment of the state of his fame (and frankly I am seeing a pattern with other notable graphic designers regarding sources and citations [Ed Fella, Milton Glaser, Steven Heller, Herbert Bayer, Charles Goslin, Tucker Viemeister, Neville Brody, Jan Tschichold) is entirely off base. This is unfortunately still a shortcoming of the digital era. Much of what was is written has not made the leap to digital and is leading to an erasure of a rich and detailed history which has only recently even been brought to light. I do not think you meant it literally, but this is insulting to our community. 'No insults: Do not make ad hominem attacks, such as calling someone an idiot or a fascist. Instead, explain what is wrong with an edit and how to fix it.' As I stated before, I have not been on the page in some time, and my guess is that what sources I put hard work at creating were either maliciously deleted, or not enough to meet your standards. I do know that a few months after creating the page, some key events were missing from his bio (perhaps items that somebody disagreed with?) and removed. I do not know if more was removed, leaving the page barren and divorced from logic. But, graphic designers are not very unified and it is quite common for personal passion to blind them from the truth of their actions. I do not know where to begin, but I would like to work to fix this. For my sake and the sake of my discipline. If the winners continue to write the history books, then Wikipedia is for naught. Help me get Barry Deck back up and rock solid. And help me help the community solidify their entries.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
