To be honest, that's as far as I can go! My local libraries have no information that I can find, I can't find anything else through Google, and I can't afford to go into Central London to research further about a subject I'm not particularly interested in! Taskforce spammer

I thought I was being gentle by using a softblock and the softerblock template message, rather than a spamusername block (which would have been technically justified IMO) on this COI s.p.a.! Almost all spammers for non-profits feel that they are not really promoting, just "educating the public". Part of NPOV is that we have to be as firm and impartial with somebody pushing a noble cause or entity (i.e., one we agree with) as we are with a normal commercial spammer or crank. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:59, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

For helping me with the Deford-Cass City Christian Academy page. I'm not sure if you can also help me with this issue, but it appears that somebody has moved the Cass City Public School District page and instead created Cass City Public Schools. I tried to edit the first one I mentioned, but it appears that the person tried to revert my edits. I believe that much of the information on these sites is very much false. Thanks in advance! Actually, before I did that I did some searching. There are more references on Google News/Books/Scholar/Web (there were 69 News/35 Books/6 Scholar/4200 Web) to "Cass City Public Schools" than there were to "Cass City Public School District" (there were 4 News/2 Books/0 Scholar/17 Web), so I'm taking the "Public Schools" are the most correct title. Ratifiers for Democracy

I would argue that it does, as it is one of the few models of modern reform studied in universities around the world, having become part of the curriculum. Ratifiers for Democracy has made a powerful impact on reform discussion in many countries, including Singapore, where ARDA has reprinted a Ratifiers for Democracy editorial. Hi Musicaloyster. May I suggest that you mention these facts on the article's talk page? I am not very knowledgeable in this area, and all I know is that (1) the article was not suitable for a Speedy Deletion (2) I couldn't find reliable references to Ratifiers for Democracy. It would best be left for those who know about this field, and if you can find references to show that it is notable, then that's fantastic.
I would add one other comment - it is a model for reform - if I understand correctly, this model has not been implemented anywhere, is that right? While it may be on curricula around the world as a theory, that does not necessarily make it notable. Could you find links to universities' websites which show that it is used as part of their curriculum? If so, this might help show its notability. Again, this is not my area of expertise, so don't quote me on that! If there's anything else I can help you with, just drop a note on this page! Yes, infact that photo is taken from the book "Santa Marija Hamsin Sena fil-Katidral" of the Reverend Bezzina (There is the complete bibliography on the article). If you have no problem doing so, please make all the changes necessary, as I am still getting accustomed to the service. I will repeat all changes on the Maltese Articles. And- yes, he is my grand grand father, and I am trying to get a photo from my family, so the current photo is just a temporary one.

Thank you for your comments here! I am busy this weekend (my partner and kids need some attention from me!) but will look at this on Monday. A couple of comments though:
  1. As the photograph comes from a book which is in copyright, it would be unable to be used here without specific permission from the author - if you are in touch with him, I will explain how you can get permission to use it - but I'll do that next week when I have time. However, if you can find a family photograph, then there are no copyright issues to consider it, as you have the right to assign it the correct permissions - again, we can talk about that if you can find one.
  2. The Leone Philharmonic Society could perhaps be used, but I'll have to look at their site more closely, and perhaps contact them for permission. Again, I'll look into it next week
  3. With regard to his signature, again we really need Rev Bezzina's permission to use that, I think.

Task Force page

Hello Phantomsteve

Thank you for your help and advice regarding the Task Force page I created last week. I have one technical question. Some of the internal links I would like to use in the article lead to empty spaces - pages that have not yet been written. I'd like to write these pages too, and think they are worthwhile in their own right (not only because of the Holocaust Task Force). Is there any problem with me doing that?

There would certainly be no problem with creating new pages. However, just bear in mind that they need to be notable in their own right (notable according to the criteria at WP:NOTABLE). You can certainly created 'stub' articles. If other editors think they are not suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, then they may put them up for deletion - if this happens, don't be discouraged - it happens to most editors! If you would like me to look at any stub articles, let me know what they are and I'll look at them. (To link to them, use square brackets like this: [[article name]] - then clicking on the link will go to the article. For example [[Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research]] gives Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance, and Research.
Another couple of suggestions: near the top of the page, if you place the tag {{under construction}} then a notice will be shown explaining that the article is being worked on - it won't necessarily prevent other editors nominating it for deletion, but it may stop any 'speedy deletion' nomninations - as long as the article is being worked on! Also, near the bottom of the page, make sure that you use the tag {{stub}}, which will show that the article is a stub-article rather than a completed one.

I have removed some of the tags, but kept the following ones: "Wikify" (still needs more wiki links); "COI" as you are still the main contributor; "Inappropriate tone", as I still feel that this needs improving. Ok - thank you for taking a look although you're so busy! I have made a few comments on the article's talk page regarding the COI issue, it would be useful if you or someone else could respond (I'll add a help tab. I understand that this is an issue you have to be weary of, but is there anything I can do to resolve the problem? In relation to wiki links, I have now wikified the article as much as I can, with some links still going to empty pages - I will do more research on these and see if they are worth writing. The only issue that really still confuses me is tone - I'm not sure how the article could be more neutral, and as far as I can see it complies to the guidelines (no jargon, only 3rd person etc). I'll look at the article again tomorrow when I have more time (and no kids around!) and remove the other tags as required! I only did a cursory look, and the tags I removed were obviously able to be removed - I'll need to read the article more carefully to ensure that the other tags can be removed. I'd rather keep them there for an extra day when they might not need be there, than remove them and then have to re-add them! When I've had a look, you might want to leave a message at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback (RFF) - there you can get comments and constructive criticism to help improve the article. You can, of course, post a message there straight away - but if you don't before hand, I will look at it tomorrow. Either way, it might be an idea to look at RFF - it'll show you what people say there! If you feel that it has a problem, as a first point of call you should leave a message on United Van Lines's talk page which can be found at Talk:United Van Line. I do not currently have time to look at it properly, but if I get a chance I will look at it. It claims they are the largest movers in the US - which is backed up by references I can find, although I would have to check that some of them are at reliable sites, not just using a press release. What is the criteria for a Page On Wiki, there are VIN numbers listed with these cars. I have created this page to help people that search for general information to aid them in finding information that has never been put out for the public to view in one place. I don't want to drag this out in Help

The reason I made mention of needing some indication of humorous pages is that I've only seen one example — when searching for information on Bibliographies, guessing that WP:BIBLIO might be relevant, clicking on it and seeing this page, without the identifier that it is a Bibliomaniac15 creation. I'm happy to hear there is a rule, but it wasn't followed in that instance. Perhaps I'm a little irked because I thought I was reporting vandalism - I was admonished for not realizing it was an attempt at humor, and now that it has been reverted, it clearly was vandalism. Hi Sphilbrick. With that specific example, I can see why you might be concerned. Although it is a user page, it shouldn't have been linked to by WP:BIBLIO, which now rightly points at the correct page. Also, the user page shouldn't have any "This is policy" message (even with the humour notice above it as it has now). There is no evidence of any conspiracy. A Google search for site:umge.com "evony" yielded one hit: for someone's order for an Evony Server 2.
To suggest that they have in effect bought off archive.org, google (and presumable ask.com, bing.com, etc etc) is simply ridiculous. If you continue to add these allegations without any proof, then I (and other editors) will remove them. I now see that the source of the conspiracy is Bruce Everiss on his own blog... and how is that a reliable source? Assuming that you are not Bruce, have you even read the Statement of Claim - which I notice you conveniently neglect to link to along with with Bruce's site - hardly a Neutral Point of View. If (assuming the case is settled in Bruce's favour) the case is over, then you could add details of it - as it would be in the newspapers anyway. Other than Bruce's own word on it, have you got any evidence that the claims made in either Don't Play Evony, More about Evony, Is Evony Malware? or elsewhere on the Eleclectic blogs on The Chaos Engine? I would also think that as it is an ongoing legal case, Wikipedia are limited in what we can allow about it, until the case is settled one way or another. If you have proof of yourBruce's claims, from reliable sources, post them. If they are not proof, or reliable, then they will be removed. +

First of all, let me point out that I know that not all IP edits are wrong - I would guess that for every IP edit that I have reverted, I am left about 10 alone.
As for this particular edit - the two sources (a facebook group and a blogspot.com blog) are not reliable sources, which is the reason why I reverted the edits. Steve - you didn't just revert the sources though. You reverted entire sections. You could easily have removed the individual source instead. From Saturday more sources will be available because the website in question will officially launch.

As per WP:RELIABLE_SOURCES, blogs are not counted as reliable because anyone can add to them. Althought the guidelines refer mainly to using them as references to living people, the same basically goes for organisations - a blog is basically the equivalent to a newspaper's opinion columns - they show what people think, but the content is not necessarily verifiable (the guidelines refer to newspaper op-eds, which would not be reliable sources) - the same principle goes for a facebook group - anyone who is a member of the group can add comments, which may or may not be true. Anyone can create a group (I could have created the group, and I have nothing to do with Vox Pop!).
I was wrong to do the original revert, as it removed useful material - however, I have corrected it with my manual edit, which is what I should really have done to begin with.
Incidently, the fact that the website isn't actually launched yet is an argument against the notability of Vox Pop. However, I am not going to go into that (I'll leave it for others to decide on the notability of it!). When the Vox Pop website launches on Saturday, make a note of any mentions in local and national newspapers (if you get coverage in the Times, Guardian, on the Associated Press wires - these will help show the notability of Vox Pop.

There's been coverage in the Scotsman and on the BBC, both of which are noted as sources on the page. The youtube video was an attempt to upload the audio file of coverage on BBC Radio - I couldn't get it to upload directly to wikipedia. If there is a way of doing this (I only have it in wma format), I'd appreciate a hand. You can't actually upload a YouTube video - for the simple reason (in this case) that the video footage is copyrighted to the BBC. A link to the YouTube video wouldn't generally be acceptable on a Wikipedia article - videos on YouTube can be uploaded by anyone, and could be edited before uploading (I know in this case it wasn't, but in theory it coulod have been). Also, because they are in violation of the BBC's copyright, the BBC can ask YouTube to remove it. As a general rule, AfDs are reviewed by an administrator approximately 7 days after they were opened - however, as admins are volunteers with real lives too, it may be just a bit longer than this! When the admin looks at it, if there is a consensus they will close the AfD implementing the consensus (keep, delete, merge, redirect, etc) having looked at the arguments. If the admin feels that there is no consensus, they can either relist it for another week, or close it as no consensus, which means the article is kept - but without a consensus, it is open to being AfD'd again. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 20:36, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Hello. I work in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra's administrative offices in the Marketing Department. We are currently changing the name of the symphony to "Columbus Symphony" and dropping the "Orchestra." Could you possibly change the title of the page to reflect this new change?

However, at the moment although your website shows "Columbus Symphony" in your logo, all other references are to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (or CSO) - including the titles of your pages (for example, the title on your home page says "Columbus Symphony Orchestra - Columbus, Ohio". May I suggest that you get your webmaster to change all the titles to "Columbus Symphony", and perhaps put a note on the home page explaining that the name is going to be changed to "Columbus Symphony"? As you will appreciate, Wikipedia needs verification that the name change is happening - and a note on the website would show this perfectly. Otherwise, another editor will look at the website and just revert my changes as they will say "the website doesn't say that"!
If you let me know when this is done, I will happily amend the article title to reflect the change, and make relevant changes within the article to indicate the new name.

Hello. Thank you for your reply. We are in the process of converting from the "Columbus Symphony Orchestra" to the "Columbus Symphony." Currently, the Columbus Symphony is at the start of its classical season, and the name change is a gradual process, as it is not currently a top priority. Current marketing and print materials for the 2009-2010 concert season DO reflect this change, however, even though it is not evidenced on the website, except by the logo. As to your concern regarding a conflict of interest with the Columbus Symphony, I am not a paid employee of the symphony, but rather an unpaid intern, with a background in music performance, not editing, or arts administration. Thus, I do not feel that a conflict of interest is present. I will be in touch once we are able to get the ball rolling on the name change. Once it is complete on the official Columbus Symphony website, I will contact you again and hopefully get the ball rolling on the name change process.

Thanks for your reply. If you could find a reference to a newspaper article or similar (see reliable sources for the kind we would look for, but generally something of the stature of the Washington Post, NY Times, etc) that refers to the name change, I'd be quite happy to change it. Until we have some verification (I still think that even as an intern you should be able to get someone to make a note of it on the official website), we can't change the article's title - once reliable verification is found, then no worries!
On the subject of your possible COI - as long as any information that you add to the article is written from a neutral point of view and is well-sourced from reliable sources, then there would be no problem. It can be hard to be neutral when you are involved with the organisation, which is why the general advice is not to - it is not an actually rule that you can't, just general advise! If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.

You are not correct! I didn't remove the section you mention from that article. The only edit I have ever made (at 18:30, 18 September 2009) reverted the sentence "Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder which primarily consists of the fear of experiencing a difficult or embarrassing explosive diarahea situation" to "Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder which primarily consists of the fear of experiencing a difficult or embarrassing situation"
The version you are referring to was at the latest this one where that section was removed at 22:32, 21 July 2009 with the edit summary "Other treatments: removing this entire section. these are not different; they're all standard cognitive-behavioral techniques; CBT is already covered.)"
You are right that edits may affect others, but in this case the editor considered the coverage in the article Cognitive behavioral therapy covered the same ground. Huggle: Gold

Hi. This edit to Gold is certainly not vandalism, so it shouldn't have been reverted with Huggle, meaning without a descriptive edit summary. I have reverted to the IP's version as the clarification is useful if you read the paragraph (it is not obvious to lay persons that it is the only gold isotope, not the only isotope at all, that decays in that manner). You were quite right to revert that - sorry, I misread the sentence and thought the word "gold" was superflous - but in fact it is necessary! I beg to differ. In the article James Monroe, you replaced the section "early years" with the statement "james monroe was a president...." - which was already mentioned in the first paragraph (in more detail than your sentence) and is also mentioned later on in the article. A question

As you can see I'm editing the FC Zwolle page. I would like to add the competition results. I would like to use the Vertical Lines like on the Dutch Page [2] (See the link). Hi RamonP.
Firstly, you need to alter your signature so that the bold ends at the end of your user name! Just change it to:
-- '''[[User:RamonP|RamonP]]'''
Although it would be nice to have a link in your sig that goes straight to your talk page!
Now onto graphs - I'm not sure that there is an equivalent to the Dutch BalkVerticaal2 - I couldn't find anything. All the graphs I've seen on the English Wikipedia are in fact images. You might want to look at Commons:Convert tables and charts to wiki code which talks about converting from HTML/PDF/CSV etc to wiki code. Nate02343 (talk  · contribs) has received a couple of warnings, but although they have done a few vandalism edits, they have only just got to the stage where another warning would trigger a block request. The user has received 3 warnings, but the last one was about 5 hours ago, so a request at WP:AIV would be declined. I'd just leave it for now - if they come back and do more within the next few hours, they would be listed for Admin intervention anyway. The important thing is that they vandalism was reverted. Hello, I've redirected this article to the main article about the city itself, and left a notice on the creator's talk page. As this circumvents the need for deletion, I find it preferable; however, the creator of the article has undone the redirect several times. Need your assistance

Hello, the PODS (company) page was marked by an anonymous IP as an advert recently. It's the same people who was causing issues previously. I wanted to see if you can jump in on the discussion. It's become rather annoying. Additionally, the user PODs Watch continues to harass myself and has vandalized the PODS page.

Hi Twalters82. As it's a one-off (at the moment), there's not much that can be done. If it happens a lot, then you can apply to have the page semi-protected, but at the moment it wouldn't be. With regard to User:PODs Watch, I can see that they have once altered the PODS (company) article, and three edits to your page - all to explain why they have proposed files for deletion (2 times) or why they removed a section from the article on the other occasion. I see no harrassment there (that user has a total of 11 edits - the 3 to your page, the 1 to the PODS (company) page, 4 file-deletion-related edits, 2 to their own pages and one to the Richards Group article). Only one of these could be regarded as vandalism - the PODS (Company) redirection - all the others appear to be valid edits. You might not like the proposals for deletion of the two images, but the editor is within their rights to propose them for deletion, even though I don't think they will get deleted.
I would not classify PODs Watch's behaviour as "harassment" - they have only vandalised the PODS page once, and has not had any direct interaction with you other than to let you know that they were proposing files for deletion.
Incidently, when you leave a message on a talk page, sign your post by typing four tildes (~~~~ at the end, as this will automatically add your user name and date/time, like this: -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 23:29, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Port Harcourt article vandalized

Hi there. Would you pls take a look at this article? There's a user who first edited via IP, and then even though you reverted his edit, the IP edits continued vandalising the page. Few hours later a new user appeared, & continued vandalising the page adding unsourced material. This seems to be a case of a member of a nigerian minority group laying claim on a city which fell into the property of the Federal Nigerian troops during the Biafra-Nigeria war. Incidently, have you read "What if I forget the password?" - as long as you signed up with an e-mail address, you can get a temporary password sent to the registered email address. On my User Page, I hadn't missed 1 count of vandalism, but 2! On this page, I hadn't missed 1 count, but 6. I have now corrected them - but although I understand that you were trying to be helpful, I think it is up to me to decide when to update my counter, and by how much. I don't mind an editor who has reverted vandalism to my page themselves updating it (although that hasn't happened before), but I don't think a non-involved editor (even a sysop) should change my counter. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 08:34, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Don't get your panties in a twist. I was really just playing a little game with you, because by changing the counter on your userpage I was vandalizing it, which means that it should have been reverted. But by reverting it, you were saying that the number I changed it to was wrong, but since I had vandalized, it was actually right. But if you left my edit alone, then it wasn't vandalism, and so then the vandalism counter userbox was wrong! It's a paradox! I'm surprised the entire universe didn't collapse right there.
