The Barnstar of Recovery
For saving the Sardarpara, atwari, bangladesh from being deleted with excellent searching skills! I, Jethrobot drop me a line 17:13, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

This is unrelated to the Provanhall issue but related to the Phil Bridger issue - Phil Bridger repeately edited the entry on gang stalking claiming that properly cited entries were "delusional conspiracy theories" (there is significant evidence to the contrary, eg. james walbert's court case, bioethics testimony, MKULTRA trial as cited at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_experimentation_in_the_United_States). Now there is _no_ entry on gang stalking meaning that the suffering of thousands of people goes without accreditation thanks to zealots such as Phil.

Phil Bridger is either a shill or a pawn and has no place in the propagation of information resources amongst conscionable members of society. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.164.82.152 (talk) 16:31, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your recognition that I have been instrumental in keeping such rubbish out of Wikipedia, but I must point out that several other editors should share the credit, as can be seen at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gang stalking, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cause stalking, Talk:Stalking, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gang Stalking Controversy, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gang Stalking Lawsuit and other pages whose titles I can't remember where these conspiracy theories have been propogated. Di Scadre (Monseigneur)

Thanks for supporting my Proposed deletion of Di Scadre (Monseigneur). I'm just wondering, is this truly a very elaborate hoax, or just an undiscovered composer/author? Even in the second case, the article shouldn't be on Wikipedia, so that's no problem, but I was left wondering. The sources obviously are incorrect, and the images are very, very, very dubious, but the book and the text is done very nicely (in my laymans view). Do you think someone has taken a real book, and woven a large fabrication around it, or is even the book a photoshopped version of something else? Fram (talk) 07:27, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

So by when will you be adding some sources to the article? ╟─TreasuryTagstannator─╢ 22:35, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Thought not. ╟─TreasuryTagbelonger─╢ 08:29, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
A tad impatient, aren't you? I have no immediate plan to edit this, so you needn't worry about getting edit conflicts with me while you're adding sources. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:34, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Or, "I'm going to whine about the proposed deletion but not lift a finger to even try and improve the article myself," perhaps? ╟─TreasuryTagCaptain-Regent─╢ 07:06, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Luigi Arbib Pascucci

Hi There.

I noticed a clean - up tag on the article; Luigi Arbib Pascucci. The specific problem was 'too much POV.' I beleive I have fixed the problem by re - writing the article into a more neutral stance. It would be good if you could reveiw the changes to remove the POV tag if they are feasible. Vought109 (talk) 02:19, 9 July 2011 (UTC)--Vought109

M Ali Zahoori (Pride of Performance)

HI Phil. You are quite right. However, it was my view that the article was suitable for a speedy deletion. It had already been tagged as Fails WP:Notability (people) Non notable poet. Search does not bring up reliable sources. Article is unsourced.. It was unwikified, written in an inappropriate pov tone A great poet of Naat and a well known Naat Khawan... really a pride of our country. It was my view that the article was irretrievable in its existing form without a complete rewrite and therefore justified a speedy.

I often delete prodded articles. For example, pages tagged as "unsourced BLP" frequently turn out to be promotional or copyright violations too. If you feel strongly that the prod should be restored, let me know, it's not a big deal. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:41, 10 July 2011 (UTC)

Wintergirls

Hi Phil - I was just looking at the entry for Wintergirls, and thought "this article's got issues; I should flag it, but I'm not sure how". When I looked at the history, I noted that you had just a few days ago removed a bunch of tags. While it's true that there were a whole lot of tags that were mostly variations of "this article needs help", it seems like *some* kind of tag is in order. It really should be flagged for cleanup one way or another. Would you be willing to re-tag it in a way you would find more helpful? I'm hoping to take on a bit of the revision myself, but I'm going to finish reading the book first, since the exiting entry looks like a heavily spoiler-laden plot-summary. Thanks! Kenirwin/(talk) 13:23, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. My removal of the tags was done on the basis that quality is better than quantity with tagging, and in the hope that the tagger would think a bit more carefully about what the real problem was with the article and tag accordingly. That's all rather academic now because I can see that you have done an excellent job on cleaning up the article so that no tagging is now required. Phil Bridger (talk) 19:44, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

You made a good point....

Just entered some comments on an AfD and on looking at it again realised you had already said the same thing - apologies for not reading more carefully! asnac (talk) 17:42, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Illit Bus

Thanks for removing the speedy deletion tag from the Illit article with your correct assessment: (contest speedy deletion - operating scheduled bus services is an indication of importance/significance) --@Efrat (talk) 05:56, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

I PRODed it because the only claim to notability is that it is the first novel in the language - and I could find no evidence at independent sources to confirm that. There were no other claims of significance/notability otherwise I might not have PRODed it. Obviously we don't only cover the first novel in a language but as this one would only be notable for that fact if it was true then that fact needs to be verifiable. I might take the article to AfD, but I'll decide that later. -- PhantomSteve.alt/talk\[alternative account of Phantomsteve] 21:05, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Eleanor cross co-ordinates

Where did you find the co-ordinates for the Eleanor Crosses? If you managed that yourself, that's some excellent research. Or was it from another source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.5.64.141 (talk) 11:13, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

I can't remember the full details now, but I got descriptions of the locations either from the article itself or, I think, from searching Google Books. I then converted those to coordinates using Google Maps by right-clicking at the location and selecting "what's here". That much wasn't too difficult - the tricky part was working out how to create the map. Phil Bridger (talk) 16:27, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Ralph Townsend

I've nominated the article for deletion here.

My reason for ProDing was not based on the "all or nothing" argument, it was that nothing in the article demonstrated any notability beyond a small academic circle. I only mentioned the "every single head" line to counteract the claim that being a headmaster is notability in itself.

Dhadhor

Phil, can you give me details of the GBooks stuff you found re: Dhadhor? I could find nothing but am happy to expand the article if the info is out there. - Sitush (talk) 21:06, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

I added the details to the article that show that your statement that a Google Books search doesn't confirm existence is untrue. The source is blindingly obvious from the search, so please just do what you clearly falsely claimed to have done and search Google Books for "Dhadhor". Phil Bridger (talk) 21:16, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
Whoa, a bit of AGF please. Those sources are only in snippet view here (which is not acceptable) & seem from that to relate to buffaloes & the names of villages. Nothing there about a caste/community. If you can see more then great but never, never accuse me of poor sourcing etc. You simply do not know enough about what I do if you hold that opinion. - Sitush (talk) 21:35, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
The snippet clearly says that the Dhabhor are a segment of the Yadav, clearly confirming existence. Please don't bring WP:AGF into the argument when I was not assuming anything, but providing clear evidence that your claim that Google Books search results don't confirm existence was false. Maybe you need to slow down a bit and concentrate on the quality rather than the quantity of your edits. Phil Bridger (talk) 21:57, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
That is the problem with snippet view, though. How do you know that the dhadhor referred to is not a generic term for buffalo breeders? If it were a community then, as with the word Yadava, I would expect it to be capitalised. I've done a lot of work in the Yadav-related area of WP, and various other Indian communities: these snippet views are in my experience almost always misrepresentative of the surrounding page(s), and the Dhadhor community has not thus far appeared in any source that I have read in full. It may do, I agree, but my interpretation of the snippet differs from yours and, yes, I do know how that series of books generally uses typography. I could sort of live with all this & just go to WP:RX since you have raised a different interpretation .... but I am struggling to live with your manner, which really is uncalled for. For example, I did not "falsely claim" anything. - Sitush (talk) 01:40, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
You're correct that I overreacted. I apologise. Phil Bridger (talk) 09:23, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

"teenage admin nominated with a gushing reference from another teenager"

This is ridiculous. Juliancolton (talk) 20:24, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Would you care to explain what is ridiculous about that statement? If there's a factual error then I will happily withdraw, but otherwise it is a perfectly valid comment. This is supposed to be a serious encyclopedia, and has, like it or not, come to be the "go to" source of information for hundreds of millions of people. It should no more be administered by teenagers than any government or multi-national corporation should be. Phil Bridger (talk) 20:55, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
How many FAs have you contributed to the go-to information? I've been a/the primary editor of 32. That's a poor unit, of course, since FAs are not the be-all-and-end-all of the project, nor are all editors suited to writing them; still, I like to think it shows "teenagers" can make some contribution. However, my main objection is to your subtle message that the whole nomination constitutes some bored kid on the internet helping out a buddy. I guess I can't convince you that's false, although since I've nominated well over a dozen "adults" in my time as an RfA participant, I think there is evidence to suggest that I'm only interested in what I believe is best for WP. Enough about me, though, since this is about Ks0stm. Juliancolton (talk) 21:06, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Thou dost protest too much. Phil Bridger (talk) 21:22, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Sure. But please don't question my motives; that's all I'm asking. Juliancolton (talk) 21:26, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
I haven't questioned your motives, and don't intend to. Phil Bridger (talk) 21:28, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Apparently you think I'm completely oblivious? Juliancolton (talk) 21:30, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Now you're the one being ridiculous. Nothing that I have said either questions your motives (as opposed to your judgement) or implies that you are completely oblivious to something (but I know not what). This discussion started at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ks0stm, so please, if you have anything relevant to say, say it there where everyone can read it rather than badger me here. Phil Bridger (talk) 21:41, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
It's not relevant to the RfA. "a gushing reference from another teenager" was clearly meant to diminish both the candidate and I, and I'm offended. Take it or leave it. With respect, Juliancolton (talk) 21:54, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

I have asked you a question at my RfA. Thanks, Ks0stm If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. 22:54, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Its name, “Ram Point” in English, stems from the rocky headland located at the southeast end of the beach. Majlis-e-Ahrar

From your edit at Abdul Latif Khalid Cheema it seems you have some knowledge of this, so you may be able to solve a problem I am facing. Although I asked for help at WT:INDIA, no one seems to care. Majlis-e-Ahrar-ul-Islam deals with a defunct pre-partition party. Majlis-e-Ahrar-e-Islam redirects there. How can Abdul Latif Khalid Cheema, born 1956, be the secretary general of a pre-partition party? Is Majlis-e-Ahrar-e-Islam actually an existing party with roots in Majlis-e-Ahrar-ul-Islam? Also, Ahrar Party (India) shares, according to the infobox, the same details. The article seems to speak of something else. Is it the same party? Is the infobox incorrect? I tried to discuss all of this with the editor who introduced all these, but he ignores me. --Muhandes (talk) 05:34, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

According to the last two sentences of Majlis-e-Ahrar-ul-Islam the party became active in Lahore after partition, and the article has a link to the party's web site, meaning that it must still be active. The source that I added to Abdul Latif Khalid Cheema describes the party as something like "Ahrar Islam Committee of Pakistan" (with "Majlis" meaning committee). The doubt is about whether the modern party is a continuation of the pre-partition party or a new party with the same name. I don't know enough about this to answer that question. Phil Bridger (talk) 09:06, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Sadly, this does not solve the problem. thanks anyway. --Muhandes (talk) 18:02, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
