Sean O'Callaghan

Hi. You originally created this article with the title Sean O'Callaghan (Journalist) to distinguish it from the other Sean O'Callaghan (IRA ex-member) but then you moved it to Sean O'Callaghan (Playwright).

As you will see from my edits your original title was correct - this Sean O'Callaghan wrote no plays but was indeed a journlalist and also writer of non-fiction books. His widely-cited book on the deportation of Irish people to Barbados, mistakenly calling them slaves, has made him somewhat notable.

Although I'm a seasoned WP editor I'd rather leave it to you to revert the title back! if you wouldn't mind. Unless you feel a different title is appropriate. Straw Cat (talk) 00:49, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Fair enough, I have moved it to journalist, but who wrote all the books/plays in my version that were attributed to a Sean O'Callaghan? That Sean seems notable too. There is a similar story about Irish "slaves" travelling to Jamaica in the 1830s. Planters tried to replace freed slaves with other labour but it failed because the people they recruited didn't work as the slaves had. See Hamilton Brown ref 14. Philafrenzy (talk) 06:58, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks very much Philafrenzy. The plays in the old version are mostly if not all by Sean O'Casey who is of course an extremely notable playwright and those plays are - or used to be - quite well-known, especially The Plough and the Stars and Juno and the Paycock. O'Casey did write a foreword to O'Callaghan's first book, The Easter Lily, which is where the confusion may have arisen! Straw Cat (talk) 11:14, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you @Edwardx: ... Do you just know categories or is there a way of working them out? Whispyhistory (talk) 06:02, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
There are some odd ones you discover over time such as "Sibling duos" but mostly you just need to read the article and ask yourself what groups the subject is a member of as categories are just groups of similar things. Do you use HotCat? It's in preferences/editing. Philafrenzy (talk) 07:08, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Yes.. I use HotCat... Whispyhistory (talk) 20:14, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Normally, I try to find someone similar but better known and look at their categories. In this case, once I had added the Broadmoor category, I went to Broadmoor_Hospital#Former and current patients and looked for people who might be in some relevant categories. I'm a hot cat too. Couple of questions

Hello.. with regards to GAFFI.... can you kindly add a logo please? or teach me how? I usually convert google.co.uk books to .com using the book citation tool on my user page, but it has not worked for the last week. Am I missing something? Whispyhistory (talk) 13:41, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

I can't tell you because it is the only thing I know that you don't and to tell you would undermine my sense of self-worth.
I think you mean Reftag which is broken but you can do the same thing by extracting the link in Google Books and pasting it into the ref like an external link then construcitng the rest of the reference around it manually. Hopefully it returns. Why convert to .com? Philafrenzy (talk) 19:47, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
Give me time to reflect on that answer...???...Whispyhistory (talk) 20:07, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
I thought that converting to .com means that people around the world can see. Whispyhistory (talk) 20:12, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
Where did you get that from? I just use .co.uk.
Yoninah once asked me to convert them when she was trying to verify my hook. Also, sometimes the page number appears when otherwise it can't be seen. Whispyhistory (talk) 05:25, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Since I am extremely dirty much of the time and have numerous cuts and grazes while working with soil, why haven't I contracted a fatal fungal disease? Philafrenzy (talk) 20:15, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

I could spend a month on Women in Afghanistan, unless there is a specific problem you have with it. Philafrenzy (talk) 20:21, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
I have been reading many. Thanks, will ping you if need help...will look some more. In meant time I have a book with old photos of Kabul 1928...Will see if I can figure out how to add some. Found some of the aircrafts of the time. Whispyhistory (talk) 20:47, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Wings over Kabul Anne Baker... has some important signatures in inside cover. Have a few by Robin Higham fyi..Whispyhistory (talk) 21:28, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
Amazon think Anne Baker is the same as the author of "over thirty heartwarming Merseyside sagas", but I think they are different people. That Anne Baker is a former nurse and notable too. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:54, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Expansion of William Rundell

Hello! Thank you for expanding the page of William Rundell. Honestly, I think I probably should've looked up what a philatelist is before determining the sources I was finding didn't his notability. I thought a philatelist was similar to a botanist but it turns out that a philatelist is an avid stamp collector. So the sources I Found related to him having something to do with stamps were actually rather relevant. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 13:53, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

Philatelists tend their collection like a garden so you were not far off. But seriously, anyone on a list of those pre-eminent in their field is likely to be notable, whether botanist or stamp collector. No worries, it needed expansion some time. Philafrenzy (talk) 14:30, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
Roughly translated, a philatelist is a lover of things that are exempt from duties and taxes. In a sense, we're all philatelists, even those who study flowers. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 17:22, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
I wish. A lot of the things I love are not exempt from duties and taxes. Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 19:23, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
The origin of the word is that before the invention of the postage stamp, people paid the postage on receipt of a letter (or refused it) meaning that from the recipient's point of view the letter was free of charge when the sender paid the postage up front with a stamp. It's just a word Georges Herpin thought up which caught on. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:19, 26 August 2021 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Special Barnstar
I know I already gave you a barnstar, but about a month ago I would've thought that there was no way William Rundell would be featured in the DYK section of the main page. When I saw it, it was literally only 1 sentence. Yet here we are now, the article having undergone a major expansion and having been featured as a DYK. Way to go! You definitely deserve this for managing to do something like that. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#0001 14:41, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
Thank you kindly, I had some help and the advantage of knowing where to look for the sources. I wish he was slightly more exciting but these dull but worthy articles have their place and add to the richness of the encyclopedia. You could set yourself the challenge of going from one line to the front page, but choose your article carefully. Philafrenzy (talk) 21:02, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
