This is the author, Phil Mayer. Wikipedia says that this is not notable enough, but when you type "FLOC" into wikipedia the following disambibuation shows up: FLOC may refer to: "FLOC is the abbreviation of For Love Of Children, a educational charity that's a Washington DC United Way agency."

If FLOC is good enough for that abbreviated stub, why is it not good enough for a full article? FLOC is an educational nonprofit which has served Washington DC since 1965. It has roots in the Civil Rights Movement. I sincerely believe that it is notable enough for wikipedia, and in fact, FLOC's employees were shocked that they did not already have one.

Hi! I have repeatedly tried to write an article on "FLOC For Love of Children." My article has been accused of not being notable enough. However, when you type "FLOC" into wikipedia, you get: "FLOC is the abbreviation of For Love Of Children, a educational charity that's a Washington DC United Way agency." Clearly, FLOC is at least somewhat notable enough to be on wikipedia. If it's good enough for that abbreviated stub, it's good enough for a full article.

I am sorry. It seemed pretty clearly that it was a hoax. You need to rewrite it so it sounds more legit. JDDJS (talk) 21:58, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on FLOC For Love of Children requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. -- Bk314159 (Talk to me and find out what I've done) 03:32, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice[edit]

The organization is probably notable, but I had to delete it as a copyright violation. You need to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases You also need to write like an encyclopedia article, not a press release--don't praise yourself, say what you do. Don't talk about the overall importance of the subject--talk about what you do. Do not copy from a web site -- first it's a copyright violation, but, even if you give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable. For further information see our FAQ about business, organizations, and articles like this and also WP:FIRST. DGG ( talk ) 05:10, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to introduce inappropriate pages to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. If you need guidance on how to create appropriate pages, try using the Article Wizard. Repeated copyright violations will surely lead to a block. DGG ( talk ) 05:11, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
