License tagging for Image:Aims.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aims.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:04, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Ase-amritapuri1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ase-amritapuri1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:54, 1 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 19:54, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Ajai narendran.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ajai narendran.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Sharada Srinivasan[edit]

I notice that you keep adding the academic title ("Dr.") to the article on Sharada Srinivasan, without any explanation. The Manual of Style clearly states: "Academic and professional titles (such as "Doctor" or "Professor") should not be used before the name in the initial sentence or in other uses of the person's name"[my emphasis]. If Stephen Hawking can do without his academic title, I'm sure Sharada Srinivasan can, too.--Boson (talk) 17:55, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Kabir-project.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kabir-project.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 10:27, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect licence on image - you need to listen[edit]

Pilgrimhawk, You have claimed that File:Kabir-project-shabnam virmani.jpg is an image you hold the copyright to. From my searching I think that this is a false claim (I can for instance see the image here in a larger format) and that you are violating the copyright holder's rights by claiming this. I have deleted this image based on this. From all of the above messages it is clear that you do not get the image policies here or the seriousness with which copyright is treated on Wikipedia. I've also deleted an image you just uploaded with a licence we don't allow ("on a joint agreement permission for non-commercial use") an image that you re-uploaded after it had been deleted for lacking adequate permission (File:Geetha narayanan.jpg) and will look now through the rest. I strongly suggest you STOP uploading images until you understand why these images have been deleted - drop a note on my talk page if you want. Continuing what you are doing is only going to lead to more images being deleted, and perhaps your account being blocked - Peripitus (Talk) 11:43, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peripitus, thanks a lot for the note. just wanted to make few things clear. i began contributing to wikipedia as another volunteer who wanted to do his part. Regarding images : The images i uploaded earlier( with source mentioned etc...) got deleted...despite my giving all the needed information , the images got deleted. the final resort ( i agree it was immature and unprofessional) to mention it as "own image" ... not with an idea of stealing it , but with the thought that images must be in place. i did if after mentioning it to the individuals profiled on these respective wiki pages . Any way, i assure you that it will not be done the same way again. Will try my best to source the images , but can you guarantee that those images will not be deleted. I strongly believe that i can contribute my tiny bit to Wikipedia... i find awful lot of topics not touched by wikipedia..and i wish to do what ever i can to enrich wikipedia - this is my sole guiding principle. i request you not to doubt my integrity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pilgrimhawk (talkcontribs) 04:57, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pilgrimhawk, thank you also for your note. Image policy and copyright is not clear nor intuitive. I do note that the first image I uploaded here was deleted (by me once I became an admin) for basically not meeting policy. Many other's have done the same. I want you to continue as an editor but only ask that if you have any doubt about an image, drop me or someone else involved with images a note and we can help with the process. - Peripitus (Talk) 05:13, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Lens-logo-infobox.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Lens-logo-infobox.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. File permission problem with File:Lens-logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Lens-logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. clarification[edit]

in fact http://www.designophy.com/calendar/design-conference-1000000113-lens-conference.-lens-conference.htm has copied from our parent website http://www.lensconference.polimi.it/

so, if you find our website content copied/ reproduced by other dozen support websites, do you mean to say that we copied from all the 12 websites?

where has human discretion gone?? --Pilgrimhawk (talk) 16:10, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Sharada srinivasan nias.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sharada srinivasan nias.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 11:05, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Prahlad Tipanya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Feezo (Talk) 04:50, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Prahlad Tipanya, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. pilgrimhawk 05:36, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on User:Pilgrimhawk/Prahlad Tipanya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

The article Vijayan K. Pillai has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article doesn't meet Wikipedia's standards for notability. It doesn't state why this subject is notable. There are only a few references on random topics. If more references can be found, please include them and remove this notice, thank you.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Tomwsulcer (talk) 01:32, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Prior content in this article duplicated one or more previously published sources. The material was copied from: http://www.hindu.com/fr/2008/10/03/stories/2008100351090100.htm and other pages, including various pages at the official site. Copied or closely paraphrased material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Samhita Arni, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page UWC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello Pilgrimhawk. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Pilgrimhawk. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Pilgrimhawk|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Jupitus Smart 12:28, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (your reason here) --pilgrimhawk 14:47, 27 April 2019 (UTC) 1. Time should be given to fix any anomalies 2. What is the critiria for Wikipedia to feature people who has done commendable work in their areas, but many online proofs of it is removed by the corporations that employed such employees. 3. it is my observation that Wikipedia appears enigmatic at times - Some of the legends in their respective field are so under represented ( Example : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Storr ) , some popular icons are over represented while some people whose contributions are immense yet do not have much online visibility are not represented at all. 4. In the light of the above thoughts may i implore the Administrators to allow me more time to fine tune the Wikipedia article in context. My only attempt was to help an honest journalist reach out better to the general public, more so when one is swimming against the current.

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Pilgrimhawk, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Pilgrimhawk|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Daiyusha (talk) 15:43, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

NOTE / DISCLOSURE By user Pilgrimhawk (2)[edit]

This is to vouch the fact that i have no monitory interests linked to my contributions to Wikipedia. What ever edits i do are purely on a voluntary basis out of sheer passion and commitment to the cause Wikipedia stands for! QED !

Then why do you give the appearance that you are promoting the subjects you write about? In spite of your denials, you give every appearance of editing for compensation. And this has been noticed by multiple people.
There isn't anything wrong with that, we have plenty of paid editors, but we do require disclosure. Failure to disclose, or providing a blanket denial when there are specific cases of paid editing, risks your account being blocked.
At the very least you must disclose any conflict of interest, which is rather obvious that you have. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:24, 1 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User Pilgrimhawk's response :

To your question ( despite my statement of the fact that i am not paid for any of my wiki edits ) " Then why do you give the appearance that you are promoting the subjects you write about? In spite of your denials, you give every appearance of editing for compensation.: This is my response:

Despite my affirmation of the fact that i do not accept payment for any of my WiKi edits, if you you still feel that what i did gave you an appearance of me accepting any payment, all that i can say is that it is poor perception. May i challenge you to investigate contacting the people whose WiKi pages i edited and prove that i have accepted any compensation. Please go ahead and prove it that can substantiate your inference. I say this because you have gone to the extent of questioning my integrity.

Just because some thing is not wrong and it benefits me financially does not mean that i will go ahead and do it for the sheer financial gain. That is not the way i look at voluntary work - in this case promoting the cause of honest journalism and free speech adhering to Wiki rules to the best of by ability - This conviction is also rooted in my analysis of certain WiKi pages that continue to exist despite abysmally poor referencing / sourcing , Kindly look at the following pages :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nairanjana_Ghosh ( Zero authentic sources sited... the only reference points to a personal profile web page, This page was last edited on 23rd March 2019 ) This page was created on 2011 !

The following Wiki pages, to my mind, are also an example of poor referencing. Kindly let me know what rationale allows them to exist as they are . I have nothing against the people profiled on these pages, My question is with such poor referencing how do these pages continue to exist under your watchful eyes obeying the stringent rules.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K._A._Beena https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umarji_Anuradha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sahar_Zaman_(journalist) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sindhu_Joy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruchira_Gupta

So I would implore you to have some introspection - If you can't get off the inference based on your world view - that is assuming that i accept compensation for WiKi editing, i welcome you to go ahead and prove it.

This is for your kind information : i have in my mind thoughts of editing the WiKi pages of certain great people who are dead and gone, i believe that they are so under represented and their life and work poorly depicted on Wikipedia must be enriched. So, do you think i will go and accept payment from people who are not alive ?

Orphaned non-free image File:Kabir Project (logo).jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Kabir Project (logo).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:37, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Samhita Arni.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Samhita Arni.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature[edit]

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for the alert. May i request you to go through the history of the specific Wiki page in context. Immediately after i got the copyright alert, i did paraphrase the text ( within allowed limits) citing the source. May i also add here that what ever little i ncontribute to WikiPedia is a voluntary contribution to the worthy cause Wikipedia stands for and it has been made clear and transparent on my page.
