Deletion discussion about CumbriaFirst

Hello, PinkPanda272

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Meatsgains and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, CumbriaFirst, should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/CumbriaFirst.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Meatsgains}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Meatsgains(talk) 02:10, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

@Meatsgains: Hi, is the page being deleted because of lack of citations, or is it short long to be of any use? PinkPanda272 (talk) 08:19, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

I nominated the page for deletion because the political party lacks notability. Feel free to discuss at the AfD. Meatsgains(talk) 17:28, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 6

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Transport on the Isle of Wight, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page South Western Railway (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:41, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on 1992 Lochaber District Council election requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. buidhe 17:28, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

This page would probably best be included on a list of elections that took place in Lochaber political constituency. I doubt it meets WP:NEVENT on its own. buidhe 17:29, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

Sorry, buidhe, I was trying to add results earlier, but the site kept crashing. I assumed the edit had registered, but apparently not. I will go back and add more content now, thanks for the information. PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 18:06, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

Copyright and Wikipedia

Hi PinkPanda272, I just had a look at SESTRAN, and noticed that much of the content was copied from their website - we can't do that I'm afraid, see WP:COPYVIO. I'd also note that we wouldn't generally use an organisation's own website as a source for anything but the most basic of facts - our articles should be based on reliable, secondary and independent sources. I imagine that independent sources would have written about an organisation like SESTRAN - it would be great if you could identify some sources like that, and add them to the article to demonstrate that they pass NORG. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 19:43, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up Girth Summit, having read through WP:COPYVIO I have now added two secondary sources, which I think proves that it passes the notability guidelines. I would be grateful if you could have a glance over the article to check that all is in order. Thanks again for your message, I will keep it in mind for future edits. PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 20:55, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
PinkPanda272, no worries. So, the Scotsman article is very short indeed - the whole article is six sentences long, and two of those don't cover the subject (rather, they're about the politicians who were visiting them). The other one I can't access because it's behind a paywall. As an aside, I get a 404 when I try to access the Transport Scotland site - are you sure the URL is correct? I'd try to beef up the sourcing a bit if possible - surely there must be more out there about a regional body like this? Something reporting on them being established perhaps, explaining what their remit is? GirthSummit (blether) 21:01, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
@Girth Summit: I've fixed the broken link and added a better explanation of their remit. I will try to improve it more in the coming days. Cheers, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 21:53, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi PinkPanda272, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account for an initial period of 90 days after which you may apply to have it made permanent, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Chetsford (talk) 17:35, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Can you please find 3 sources for vechile types as after first 3 paragraphs on vechile types it's saying citation needed and can you please tidy up my evening telegraph reference just like you did my other edit Dgmitchell91 (talk) 22:26, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Dgmitchell91, I see you later removed the citation needed tags, but have not added any references in their place. I don't think reliable sources will exist for the paragraphs in question, the information will most likely have been added in by someone with 'insider knowledge', as often happens on these sorts of articles, although you are more than welcome to do some digging online to see if you can find anything. Again, I can't find the Evening Telegraph article, so I can only assume that you have fixed it yourself. As a general rule for references, everything needs to be between the <ref> and </ref> tags, like this:
<ref>{{cite web
|url=https://www.example.com
|title= Example
|website= Example.com
|access-date= dd/mm/yyyy
}}</ref>
You can add additional parameters such as date and author, this is only the minimum. Hope this helps, and keep up the good work. PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 10:34, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

I can't find the siurces needed can you see if you can Dgmitchell91 (talk) 11:32, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

I will put the evening telegraph article back in but can't find 3 sources for vechile types can you see if you can Dgmitchell91 (talk) 11:34, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Dgmitchell91: As I have stated, there is likely not any sources. Please stop asking me (and others) to research things for you, I only edited the article to correct some typos and formatting issues, not to start adding in content or sources. If you wish to continue improve the article, then by all means do, but do not expect me to do so as well. Thank you, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 12:29, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Opinion polling fixes

Hi, I was wondering if you could please make some fixes on some polling tables? On the page Leadership approval opinion polling for the next Senedd Cymru election it is stated to use dmy dates but the tables are incorrectly dated month and then day. I managed to change this around (see my edit in the history section for how) but it messed up the 'date to' section. I realised how to fix this but I have no programme or automated way to do it and I kept messing up somewhere along the process of individually fixing each date. I was wondering if you could please help? Helper201 (talk) 21:27, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi Helper201. From a quick scan of the page, the tables seem to be using an incorrect format for the Date table sorting template. I think you got confused in your edit and thought that the =2 was the date, when in fact it was just some faulty syntax (you had the correct format which is {{Date table sorting|12 November}}, it doesn't require the =2). The article seems to be using non-standard formatting anyway (compared to Leadership approval opinion polling for the next United Kingdom general election), so I'll have a go at changing it tomorrow. Thanks, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 23:00, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

AMS tables

Hey PinkPanda.

I've never edited AMS tables before, all my constituency editing has been FPTP, so I'm learning a lot about how to deal with all the different functions and processes! It's proving quite the constructive experience! doktorb wordsdeeds 10:31, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Doktorbuk, thanks for the message. If you need any help with the template don't hesitate to ask! I tried to make the syntax more or less intuitive, and copied many functions from the standard election box templates, so hopefully the learning curve won't be too steep. Torfaen

Hey PinkPanda, a quick question. For the Torfaen Senedd constituency, the party Gwlad, without a Wikipedia article, have a candidate and a list. When I tried the party link template the lack of an article borked things a bit. When I try minor party, there is no list vote box. There is something I'm missing, but you're the go-to person for this so could you take a look for me please? Cheers. doktorb wordsdeeds 08:36, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Doktorbuk. There are a few issues here, mainly due to my faulty code. Firstly, {{AMS election box with list party link}} had support for parties without meta/color and meta/shortname templates, while {{AMS election box with party link}} didn't. This was an omission on my part, which I've now fixed. Secondly, the meta/color template is located at {{Gwlad Gwlad/meta/color}}, so using "Gwlad" on its own wouldn't produce a colour even after I fixed the problem. Thirdly, the bit of code the templates use to detect whether a party has an article can't tell the difference between a redirect and an actual article. This isn't a problem normally, but it just so happens that Gwlad points to Wales in the Early Middle Ages. I will try to find away around this, but it might involve a new template if I can't get the current template to differentiate between redirects and articles. Until then, you could perhaps use "Gwlad Gwlad" instead, seeing as that's where the meta template is? PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 16:20, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Edit: I've just realised that parties without a meta/shortname template don't link at all. This means, as long as someone doesn't create {{Gwlad/meta/shortname}}, you can use the template as normal without the incorrect link showing up. Ideal it is not, but it could work as a short term fix until I sort the problem out. PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 16:27, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much PP. I was busying myself with it all trying to fathom things out and didn't want to trouble you unless I got stumped! I'll be back on editing the constituencies tomorrow I reckon so will look at how things are then. Thanks again x doktorb wordsdeeds 18:23, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Assume good faith

Information icon Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on Falkirk East (Scottish Parliament constituency). Please do not add warnings without assuming good faith or engaging in constructive discussions. The addition of warnings before discussions and without assuming good faith are disruptive and are against the principles Wikipedia to work collaboratively and working collegiately. I would also suggest reading WP:OWN as well as you seem to have reverted to your preferred edit revision without engaging in discussion. Please also read WP:BRD do not behave in the manner you have as you are acting in what is perceived as bad faith and in an ownership manner. This is not an attack on you but a comment on the style of the editing and interactions you are engaging in. Please note if you continue to behave in the way you are you will be reported for not assuming good faith and not acting in a collegiate manner. Many thenks Sparkle1 (talk) 16:24, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

@Sparkle1: Your accusation of WP:OWN does not stand up, because I am currently helping PP with adding consistent election boxes to both Senedd and Holyrood elections. Furthermore, the UK politics project has had plenty of time this year to deal with the selection of candidates and their presentation, and we've not faced any opposition. Further still, elections to Senedd and Holyrood don't use FPTP, and it's been a constant failing of editors past and present that previous results have only given the misleading and false impression that the elections in each constituency is solely FPTP. What PP and I are doing make each article more accurate and reflective of how the elections actually take place. As I sure you know, polling day is very soon indeed, so we need to work together to make each article better, not begin edit wars, in either direction. Many thanks for working in a constructive way to make articles reflect how things actually are. doktorb wordsdeeds 16:29, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

Talk constructively or don't say anything at all. You are not being constructive. Let's be constructive here. Sparkle1 (talk) 16:31, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

I am being very constructive. This articles have been misleading and badly constructed for years. Editors - me included - have failed in being accurate by using FPTP boxes. The elections do not use FPTP. We need them to show they use a different voting system, that's what the AMS boxes do. Electors have two votes - candidates and list. The boxes show this. I can't be clearer about your edits and reverts (incidentally, be careful about getting close to WP:3RR as you have no constructive reason to go back to using inaccurate results boxes.) Many thanks for working with us on this. doktorb wordsdeeds 16:34, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

This is complete nonsense. In Scotland, you get two votes one regional list ballot paper and one constituency ballot paper. The constituencies are all FPTP. The regional list seat allocation is done on the Additional Member System. There seems to be a conflation of the two ballots being done here. Please do not make out the individual constituency members are not elected by FPTP that is completely wrong. The constituency members are elected by First Past The Post the regional seat allocation is the regional vote plus the constituency vote the regional vote has no impact on the constituency seat allocation. Sparkle1 (talk) 16:50, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

Nobody is saying that FPTP isn't used for the constituency vote, but only including the FPTP results doesn't show the whole picture. Regional results are shown on articles for constituencies in Germany and New Zealand, which use the same voting system. In the latter especially, you can see how the list result is often wildly different to the constituency one, due to tactical voting and a popular local candidate. I hope you would agree that removing this vital information does a disservice to the readers. Regards, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 17:02, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

Sparkle1, as I said before, if you have a problem with the AMS boxes, please start a conversation either at Talk:2021 Scottish Parliament election or at a relevant WikiProject noticeboard. Also, the AMS boxes are not solely my doing, there are have been at least 5 editors involved with adding and updating them to election articles. Thank you, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 16:40, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

I would also note that you seem to have ignored your own advice to follow WP:BRD - you BOLDly removed content from the constituency articles, I reverted and left a message on your talk seeking dialogue, and you promptly reverted back to your preferred version. PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 16:46, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

I don't plan on staying up until midnight, but if there are any still to do tomorrow morning then I will happily help out. Thanks, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 19:29, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

2021 Senedd election

Hi PinkPanda272, I was wondering if you could please put a grey line break between the parties that won seats in the 2021 Senedd election's Results section or something similar in the same way you did on the page Results of the 2021 Scottish Parliament election. I have tried but haven't been able to get it to work. Helper201 (talk) 17:27, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

@Helper201: I don't believe that is possible due to the template being used (Template:Election results). We can either swap it for a regular wikitable, or you could ask about adding a line-break feature on the template's talk page. Sorry I couldn't be of assistance. PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 17:33, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
I'd have no problem if it were swapped for a regular wikitable. I have also mentioned this on the article's talk page if you'd like to give any input there. I will also ask about adding this feature on the template's talk page. Helper201 (talk) 17:36, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
I've responded there. Thanks, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 17:44, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

That editor

Hey PinkPanda. In an earlier discussion I made it quite clear that I wanted nothing to do with a certain editor, who seems to be using all their pushy and combative tricks on you now. I know you're strong enough to fight back but you don't have to put up with them snipping away at you all the time. They've gone from badgering editors about their signatures to slapping templates everywhere to now badgering you, it really isn't fair, right, or proper of them. doktorb wordsdeeds 22:34, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks PP. Turns out I didn't follow my own advice in not allowing that editor to get under my skin. Every reply and response just irks me so much. I'll still tinker on the articles I enjoy tendering (it's just me on the by-election records article and that suits down to the ground.) Maybe I'm good at advising people and less good at following that advice. Here's to being a bit calmer and focused now I've cut them out of my Wikipedia life. See you around x doktorb wordsdeeds 20:33, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
@Doktorbuk: It's probably wise to take some time out to cool off - thanks for all of your hard work, and I'm sure our paths will cross again soon. All the best, PinkPanda272 (talk/contribs) 21:09, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
If Doktorbuk has a complaint about my conduct, then they should take it to ANI, rather than indulging in smear campaigns. I have replied[1] setting out the diffs, so the spadework is in place for any ANI complaint.
@PinkPanda272:, I hope that my replies did not come across as badgering. I tried to encourage you to explain your reasoning, which you have helpfully done, and I think that our exchanges have been very productive. I hope you feel the same. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:47, 13 June 2021 (UTC)
