July 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Ingenuity. I noticed that you recently removed content from Paul Strauss without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 20:03, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I posted on the edit summary that the information was removed as it was recently used to reveal the identity of his teenage daughter by a journalist on twitter. For the family's safety, this section needs to be removed. PivotAelin (talk) 20:05, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Paul Strauss, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. >>> Ingenuity.talk(); 20:04, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Hey man im joshthe information was removed as it was recently used to reveal the identity of his teenage daughter by a journalist on twitter. The journalist has over 150k followers on twitter and used the information from this Wiki page to publicly identify a 19 year old. I am not randomly making changes, I am trying to keep a teenager safe. PivotAelin (talk) 20:15, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
All the information listed is sourced from sites outside of Wikipedia's control. You've also not made clear how the information from the father's criminal proceedings supposedly allowed the daughter to be found or how this will supposedly keep her "safe". Hey man im josh (talk) 20:17, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im joshIn a jury proceeding, the daughter mentioned that her father was the shadow senator. The reporter used that information and included his DUI on twitter to tweet out who he was, thus revealing her identity as well. All information may be included outside Wikipedia, but this is the first page that comes up on Google and is easily accessible. PivotAelin (talk) 20:20, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So, the daughter posted information that lead back to her father? Hey man im josh (talk) 20:22, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im joshNo, she spoke in a federal court trial and a reporter took that information and tweeted out her identity. Do you not see anything wrong with this? She is 19 years old and she was the only one who's identity was revealed because of her father. The reporter also mentioned his DUI, which was found because of his Wiki and is not relevant whatsoever in the case. I am trying to protect a teenage girl from predatory media who feel the need to air her father's dirty laundry on the internet. Yes, it may be accessible with some digging, but why does it need to be on the Wikipedia which is the first thing you see when searching his name? PivotAelin (talk) 20:28, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just looked it up. The daughter is the one to reveal a connection. Removing the father's past won't remove what's out there, nor does it "protect" the daughter in any way, shape, or form. There's a whole crap load of sources that come up if you Google Paul Strauss DUI. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:30, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh I genuinely don't understand why you have taken it upon yourself to keep this information so readily available. Because you, a random person, have decided that this man's DUI needs to be displayed on the internet, it has a negative impact on his teenage daughter and her sister. If you know what you're looking for, sure search Paul Strauss DUI. But if you were just looking at his Wikipedia, there is no reason why that should be there. The fact that he even has such an extensive page as a glorified lobbyist is insane, much less including his DUI. PivotAelin (talk) 20:34, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's certainly not my fault, I didn't make Strauss get behind the wheel while being an elected official. Hey man im josh (talk) 20:36, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im joshI'm not defending his actions, I'm asking for some empathy regarding his children. I don't understand what gives you the right to decide what information is on this page. PivotAelin (talk) 20:39, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have the right to force its inclusion or exclusion, Wikipedia is a collaborative effort where neither of us has more power or say than the other.
I'm protesting the removal because the information included does not appear to be biased, it's stating what has happened in a very matter of fact way. I encourage you to consult Wikipedia:Content removal and Wikipedia:Dispute resolution, as I haven't seen a valid reason provided yet for the removal of Mr. Strauss's criminal past.
