File mover granted

Hello Pkbwcgs. Your account has been granted the "filemover" user right, either following a request for it or due to a clear need for the ability to move files. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:File mover for more information on this user right and under what circumstances it is okay to move files. When you move a file please remember to update any links to the new name as well! If you do not want the file mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Busoni piano concerto files

You requested speedy deletion of the following files:

I don't think they should have been deleted so quickly. Apparently they should be moved to Wikisource. I've been trying to figure out how to do this, but now I do not have access to the file descriptions and files themselves in order to move them. Why the rush? Couldn't we wait to delete them until I've had a chance to transfer the information to Wikisource? --Robert.Allen (talk) 18:56, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

@Robert.Allen: They have been deleted under this speedy deletion guideline. The images are orphans and are not being used in any articles. You could ask at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion for the images to be restored but they have been deleted under the speedy deletion guidelines. Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:06, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
The file for the first movement was linked from Piano Concerto (Busoni) (and movements 2–5 indirectly from that page), but for some reason the link did not show up on the file page, maybe because it was not used as an image. Now this link is broken. I put this information and a request for help on the talk page for the first movement, but that also got deleted, apparently without anyone reading it. Thanks for the information. I will try requesting undeletion until I am able to move them. --Robert.Allen (talk) 19:39, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
@Robert.Allen: I only see this file being linked in the article. Where are the other files? If you request undeletion, it is very unlikely that the other four files will be restored. @RHaworth: Please restore File:Busoni- Piano Concerto (2-po rdn) Mvt1.pdf. I incorrectly judged that it wasn't linked anywhere but it was linked to Piano Concerto (Busoni). I don't why it said that it didn't link to any articles and that it was an orphan when it wasn't an orphan. I think because the image was linked and not exactly put in, it didn't come up. Pkbwcgs (talk) 19:50, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
The score consists of 5 movements (sections), so only the first movement was linked in the Wikipedia article, while the remaining four movements were all linked to each other as well as the first. If I remember correctly, at the time it seemed easier to upload 5 separate files (one for each movement of the score) rather than 1 large file, and it did not seem necessary to link all five movements in the article, although that could be done. I think the best solution however would be to move the score to Wikisource, but I can only do that if all 5 movements are temporarily undeleted so I can carry that out. Once I move them, I could mark them to be deleted from the English Wikipedia. --Robert.Allen (talk) 01:13, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Your user page's semi-protection

Hello, prompted by your bureaucrats' noticeboard thread, I checked out the history of your user page and noticed that it had been semi-protected by Courcelles after this request. I'm not sure if you guys are aware, but almost all user pages are de-facto semi-protected by an edit filter, so all the semi-protection does is to prevent edits from being caught by that system. Would you mind if I unprotected it (or let Courcelles do it if he catches your response first), because the protection really isn't doing much? FWIW the attempts by non-autoconfirmed users to edit your user page are logged and can be found here. Graham87 11:01, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

@Graham87: I would rather keep semi-protection as it is stopping vandals from vandalising my userpage. I wouldn't want that list of hits to keep growing! Pkbwcgs (talk) 17:14, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

File PROD

Hello. I see that you have nominated more than fifty images for discussion at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2018 April 21. You are free to take an image to FFD. However, last year WP:PROD has been extended to files. You can use Twinkle to PROD any file, or you can manually add {{subst:prod}}. I wonder whether you are aware of that. Thanks. --George Ho (talk) 17:10, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

Going to second this. PROD is a great way to mass-nominate useless/unencyclopedic/WP:NOTWEBHOST files for deletion. Other users have used this method in the past to help cut down on cruft in Category:Wikipedia orphaned files with great success. -FASTILY 06:33, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
Great! I am going to use this method instead. Thanks. Pkbwcgs (talk) 09:00, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hello Pkbwcgs. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia; if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Mz7 (talk) 02:30, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
