Advertising at Forest Lake College, The Lakes College & The Springfield College[edit]

Hi Pkortge.

Thanks for your query. I should have explained it on the various talk pages.

The policy Wikipedia is not a soapbox says that " Articles about companies and products are acceptable if they are written in an objective and unbiased style." Sentences like: "Forest Lake College's approach to education seeks to develop well-rounded young men and women with a thorough grounding..." reads like an advertising brochure. Likewise: "subjects, carefully selected to prepare graduates for the technological world of the 21st century." and "The College's expansion has been carefully managed so that quality education is now being offered to over 1,400 students." (Italics added) I wouldn't expect to find these claims in a paper encyclopedia.

We've all been new here once, and it can be hard to figure out what fits. Don't let this put you off. If you need a hand with something, just type {{helpme}} on your talk page and explain what you need help with. Someone will come along soon and help out.

Sorting of Cat entries[edit]

I have read your note. Thanks. Its an interesting question. Many organisations are adding "The" to the front of their names. I can see that if an organisation says it is called (say) "The College" then we need to respect their wishes and put them under T. It is important that Wikipedia always refers to "The King's College" as "The King's Colege" even if it is sorted under K. In fact Wikipedia aupplies the functionality that makes this possible. I will read the cat advice to see if I can find a suggested policy.

Question: Obviously I will respect your wishes, but a) how do you make sure the next editor does not revert them? Maybe putting a comment in the wiki source might help? A question I would also suggest is... how do wiki users who presumably do not know a lot about "The College" know to look for it under "T"....

I hope to get back when I have looked around more and maybe asked WikiSchools advice as I think there should be a default policy for schools who are not clear that they would appear under "T".

I'll not mention the username, but he's got three warnings from me on his talk page and he just loves to play around in school related content. Know who it is yet? Chances are you do, and i'll happily inform you the user is on constant watch for his recent activities. It is understood the user is some kind of school archivist who has his own unique views on things and will happily make changes without seeking consensus or following policy. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest!
