{{unblock|This is a university machine and I am just wondering why it was blocked as it may point to other security issues. I checked and it does not appear to me that it was blocked as part of an IP address segment. NOTE: the IP address 149.169.218.77 is blocked, not my account.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

See below.

Request handled by: -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:53, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

It looks like 149.169.218.77 was blocked on its own as a proxy (ie this is not a rangeblock), but I am not privy to the tests performed. Syrthiss (talk) 16:57, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It was blocked by an automated bot - See User:ProcseeBot, it would suggest that the IP address is open to abuse by outside users routing their PC through it (and thereby hiding their own address). Block log shows "05:47, 14 December 2009 ProcseeBot (talk | contribs | block) blocked 149.169.218.77 (talk) (account creation blocked) with an expiry time of 2 months ‎ ({{blocked proxy}} )", I'll add the template to the IP talk page, as it should be there.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 16:29, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In response to the request at WP:OP): The machine using this IP address looks like a security liability[1]. Given the dynamic and unusual nature of the ports open, and the length of time it appears to have been compromised, I'm not inclined to unblock it at this time. You should run some anti-virus and get advice from your system administrator. I'll leave it another admin to look into IPBE. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:21, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am the administrator for this machine and there are two possible issues here. First, this machine did indeed have a backdoor running on it, which has been removed. Additionally, ASU uses a NAT for all of its LAN IP addresses. Thus, in some sense it is running through a proxy. Pkrecker (talk) 19:01, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You should think about closing up that mysql port, if that's also yours. Anyway the zombie now seems to have gone away, and I'll assume it was all cleaned up and the AV updated. The IP is now unblocked. Happy editing. -- zzuuzz (talk) 22:53, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Zinc deficiency edit[edit]

I have just come upon the above contribution you have made to the Zinc Deficiency article. You may have noticed on the View History page when you added your edit, I reorganized, revised, and rewrote this entire article from Aug 17 to Oct 7, 2014. I thought my contribution by adding a section on dietary sources was satisfactory until I saw your replacement. What an improvement! Thank you for making this section so much better.

I'm curious to know what caused you to go to this article, and how you found your suburb reference, if you don't mind taking a moment to reply.
