The problem, specifically with citing from Jay Robert Nash, is that he's generally not considered a reliable source (nevermind the recent legal problems with he and Wikipedia). According to nearly all the accounts I've read, specifically the main reference I used originally, Buster from Chicago is generally described as an unknown gunman although I do agree its possible that your view is correct.
