Self sourcing[edit]

WP:SELFCITE says, "Editing in an area in which you have professional or academic expertise is not, in itself, a conflict of interest. Using material you yourself have written or published is allowed within reason, but only if it is relevant and conforms to the content policies, particularly WP:SELFPUB. Excessive self-citation is strongly discouraged. When in doubt, defer to the community's opinion. In any case, citations should be in the third person and should not place undue emphasis on your work, giving proper due to the work of others as in a review article." I try not to do it too often. If you could show me the site, then I might get an idea — if it's just a personal blog on Blogspot, it won't fly, but if it's a site done by a team with editorial oversight, then maybe. • Also, as an aside — most of the times that my own reviews are cited, someone else added them. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 21:43, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Right on, thanks for the speedy reply. The site I'm taking about is American Blues Scene. It's a site with a full staff. So, maybe to begin with, only add things like featured interviews?..(Johnny Winter, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Cray...etc) Thanks again for your help. The site looks reputable enough, and I see no problem with using it as a source. As long as you're actually presenting information from the reviews in a neutral fashion (for instance, "Such and such gave the album 4 stars out of five, calling song X 'the best track on the album'"), it should be okay. Let me know if you need help. I can proofread or assist you with filling in the actual citation. Jesse V. (talk) 16:00, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
