Copy-paste move[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give PMDTechnologies a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Pmdtechnologies. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Writing the entire article if you are affiliated with the company (I guess that is what the "We" above means), without having declared that you are part of the company, is certainly COI. Please read and understand the Terms of Use. PamD 16:03, 21 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, my bad. I have an affiliation with the company, and I just wanted to update the old name and logo because it is outdated for three years(!) and obviously no one outside the company cares. I should have chosen a better user name but I was not aware that this would constitute a COI. COI[edit]

I have sympathy with small-medium sized organisations wanting to be represented correctly on Wikipedia (full disclosure: having recently joined a newly formed WP:N community organisation I'd started to draft an article for the group and changed my username to show my connection to it, after getting to grips with WP:COI for the first time since I started editing about 10 years ago; I still plan to use WP:COIN to work towards submitting it to the live mainspace of Wikpedia). That said, you should be aware that, as a neutral and free (as in freedom) encyclopedia, we need to be extremely cautious when people affiliated with organisations edit associated pages: eternal vigilance and all that.

It's not impossible for you to help Wikipedia cover your company better, mostly by finding as many reliable sources (and seriously, read WP:RS if you want to make sure the ones you suggest aren't just dismissed) which mention your company or its products, and posting these links to Talk:Pmdtechnologies, ideally with suggestions for a summary of each source making sure you give the exact wording you propose in as balanced and neutral a way as you can, including {{cite}}-formatted footnotes, and working through WP:COIN for openness, transparency and to help us keep Wikipedia as neutral as possible.

Trying to delete this user talk page, reverting changes made by other editors, asking others to "clean up the... total mess" your WP:COI editing caused indirectly, and renaming your account from User:Pmdwiki to User:Noaffiliation wasn't a great start, so if you want it my advice is (as well as getting your account renamed again, and making a clear statement of your exact connection to pmdtechnologies on your user page) to make sure you're completely familiar with WP:COI, be careful as you go, but don't give up! Thanks for offering your assistance! Regarding my bumpy start at Wikipedia, you should know the only reason I signed up was so I could upload the current company logo and my choice of user name was imprudent. I changed it because I was prompted to do so per Wikipedia:Username_policy, so it was not an attempt to cover up something. I actually wanted to leave the article as it is simply because it is not my job (I only happen to be the one knowledgeable in several online media because of my private endeavors). I could delegate this all to someone else (and less experienced) or perhaps to an agency any time but I'm not sure whether this would work out better.
Regarding the missing references and reliable sources, maybe I can still find something better. But I don't understand why the Image Sensor Blog, for instance, is dismissed per se just because it is a blog. It's a third party and is the #1 place to report on and review the newest developments in the field of image sensors. And regarding Engadget, "Engadget has in the past ranked among the top five in the "Technorati top 100"[3]'" This sure sounds reputable. Noaffiliation (talk) 16:56, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so I've made the case at the deletion discussion that the article should be kept if we completely overhaul it, basically having to start from scratch (the infobox you were working on can probably stay!). I've also taken a look through some of the sources you mentioned on the talk page, and they look like we can probably work with them. That said, to keep things completely above board, please rename your account to a more neutral wording, and state your affiliation to the company on your user page per WP:COI.
