Sayyid Article

In reply to your message. I am here to restore the original Sayyid article, which I am not quite happy to see you have quite vandalized and edited the article quite recently. But I forgive you. Please do not delete work from article but just add to it. It is NOTHING at all related to this Shia vs. Sunni, this is out of topic or question. We here to preserve not vandalise. about the page Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin

Dear PohranicniStraze, I did some changes on the page Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin that were reverted by you. Unfortunately one of them was a mistake that I did Unintentionally when I work on the page. So, first of all, thank you for reversion my mistake! and then I want to say that the other edition was a quote from Ali ibn Husayn that I do not understand why you revert it?!

-Hi Pouyeh, I saw the deletion and assumed it was vandalism, unfortunately the quote got cut as well. I see you've added the quote back in, so no harm done. Happy editing!PohranicniStraze (talk) 17:06, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

The Islamic prophet

Hi-- The phrase "the Islamic prophet" before Muhammad's name is not an honorific. It's a common way to distinguish him from other people by that name. Eperoton (talk) 05:18, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Question

Hi User:PohranicniStraze, can you help me with a fix to Maiorana please? I know what's wrong, but am not best at fixing it, basically some surnames are in quote marks ("") and other are in italics. User:Mild Bill Hiccup sorted this out on France (name) article (his fix [1], compared to my previous version [2]), but won't help me here. Also I don't know where links are appropriate, maybe they are being overused on Maiorana? Please let me know what you think, cheers.--Theo Mandela (talk) 16:47, 13 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks User:PohranicniStraze for taking time out to edit Maiorana appreciate it. Are you alright to remove sources [1] and [4] and the information relating to them please? As they are unreliable and a removal won't be challenged. Cheers, --Theo Mandela (talk) 20:38, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Mistake?

Hi User:PohranicniStraze, on Maiorana, where it says "a dialectic term for a type oregano", is that a mistake? Should it be "type of oregano" instead? I'm not sure, let me know what you think please, thanks.--Theo Mandela (talk) 18:44, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Alavi Bohras

Hello Editor,

With best hope and great day,

Sir, you have removed honorific from "Alavi Bohras". Please suggest me the correct way so that I edit accordingly as I (and my Team) am the creator and contributor of this page.

Thanks. --TeamAlavi (talk) 03:53, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello Sir, You have removed honorific, How could I know from where it was removed. Please suggest.

Thanks. --NoorAlavi (talk) 15:04, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

  • Hello! Regarding your question on my edits to Alavi Bohras, I was applying the Wikipedia manual of style recommendations for religious honorifics. The general guidelines for religious titles can be found at WP:NCCL, and the specific ones for Muslim honorifics are at WP:PBUH. Basically, honorifics such as PBUH, RA, AS, SWT, and similar are not normally used except where they are part of quotations. You can see the exact changes made to the article using the prev button in the history tab of the page. Hope this information is helpful to you. Best wishes and happy editing!PohranicniStraze (talk) 15:44, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Hello Sir, On the page Haatim Zakiyuddin, you have removed the reference "Righty-guided divine mission propagated right from the first prophet of Islam Adam Safiyullaah till the Last Day of Judgement. It is and will remain eternal before the creation of this world and after its destruction" from Da'wat e Haadiyah. Sir, could you please explain it. Also thanks for reshuffling the paras.

Also, before some time, there were images of manuscripts on the same page. I had requested its author and he had emailed on permissions-commons@wikimedia.org on 22nd July and received the Ticket#: 2017072210009254 for giving me copyright. But nothing has happened sice then.

Please help me out to get that images again.

Thanx. --NoorAlavi (talk) 04:44, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Hi,

I have come across a page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abduttayyeb_Zakiuddin which is about the 29th Da'i of Dawoodi Bohras during whose time split occurred regarding the succession issue and it resulted into two Bohra factions, viz. Alavis and Dawoodis. In the above mentioned page, the sentence "Just for the sake of some money and properties in Ahmadabad, Alavi Bohras started following Ali as Dai al Mutlaq." is insulting and disrespectful. I request your kind attention and do the needful.

Regards/ --Theintellectual21 (talk) 07:22, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

That does seem like a pretty clear POV violation, at least without strong sourcing to back it. I removed the sentence in question.PohranicniStraze (talk) 17:49, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Undoing bad edits

In a few places, I see you have removed content as uncited original research. Thanks for patrolling! But the content that you removed had replaced other content, rather than simply being added. Please check article-history to see if there is a previous version of the article that is better, so the result is not a loss of good content. See for example [3]. I’ve added an important content to the page of (Ahl al-Bayt) but you’ve deleted them with no real reason. The content is related to the topic, useful, real and enriching the article. Besides, it is supported by the verses from the Holy Quran.

I hope to review what I’ve added and consider it as a useful addition in order to spread the enlightened knowledge - the main target of Wikipedia.

Rollback granted

Hi PohranicniStraze. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. This is Japanese Sincerity. According to Akira fujiwara in Japanese, on August 6, 1937, deputy minister of Military of Japan notified of Japanese Troops in Shanghai that the army's proposition to remove the constraints of international law on the treatment of Chinese prisoners. The Emperor has no relation with the notification. I want to show the fact.Japanese sincerity (talk) 15:17, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

@Japanese sincerity: Hello, and thanks for the response! Just so I'm clear, are you arguing that Fujiwara did not make the claim stated in the article, or that he did make the claim but it is incorrect? And if the latter, are there some reliable sources that could be used as references? PohranicniStraze (talk) 20:53, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your comments! Honestly speaking, I am not a nationalist, however I want to show the facts. For example, in the web site of Chukiren, http://www.ne.jp/asahi/tyuukiren/web-site/backnumber/04/hujiwara_nittyuusensou.htm , Akira Fujiwara wrote one column about 2nd Japan-China War. In the column (sorry Japanese...) in the center of the column (五、残虐行為とその背景) you find the sentence, 第一に日本は、中国との戦争で国際法に違反し、大量の捕虜を不法に殺害したことを挙げなければならない。 It means that in the mid of the battle in northern China, 5th August 1937, Ministry of Japanese army notified Japanese China Garrison Army of the agenda that the internatinal humanitarian law should not be applied in the war and any expression of POW should not be used.(華北での戦闘が本格化した1937年8月5日、陸軍省は支那駐屯軍にたいして、この事変には国際法の戦争法規は適用しない、「俘虜」(捕虜の公用語)という名称は使うなという通牒を出した。). Secondly, Emperor was responsible for the Military under the old Constitution, but Military system was divided into two, Ministry of army and General Staff Headquarters. Emperor was not responsible for Ministry of army and such a detailed notifivation was not ratified directly. The above mentioned reason, I show. Japanese sincerity (talk) 13:57, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

@Japanese sincerity:No worries, I know I edit a lot of pages that don't reflect my personal views (and shouldn't, in the interest of neutral point of view), and I think most editors understand that. I just reverted your initial edit because it was removing sourced content, and the Hirohito article has a recent history of that. However, if you have a reliable source that states otherwise, I don't see a problem with adding it to the article. I don't speak or read Japanese, so obviously I can't review the source provided, but there are plenty of people on WP who can. Since the edit may be contentious, you might want to post a section on the article's talk page, say what you are recommending, and then make the change (with source) on the article notated as "per talk page" - that way no editors should think you are just removing content without a reason. Thanks for the reply, and happy editing! PohranicniStraze (talk) 15:01, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. Do I have to post "Talk" before editing or not? If it is better, I post. Japanese sincerity (talk) 13:19, 9 February 2018 (UTC)

Both the Hague convention and chemical weapon were not authorized by the Emperor. The "specific orders (rinsanmei)" for the chemical weapon was Japanese Army's special order by using the name of the Emperor, because the Garison did not easily follow the orders of the Army HQ, during the 2nd Japan-China War. The Army used the name of the Emperor when it ordered, but of course, detailed ones among orders were not the direct decision or formal agreement of the Emperor at that time. I add more information about the old Japanese political sysytem. Under the old Constitution, the Emperor was positioned as a sacred one but also the monarch of the Constitutional Monarchy, who delegates the power to the Parliament and the Cabinet. Such a kind of contradictory system confused the Japanese politics and the position of the Emperor, in 1930s. Hirohito was earnet in the diplomatic harmony and often tried to stop the confclicts against China, according to "Showa Tenno Dokuhakuroku" (The memorandum of Hirohito's voices"), but at the same time the Emperor could not totally deny the miitary activities until the final stage of World War 2. Vajiralongkorn

Hello PohranicniStraze, with this edit you have undone the deletion of mentioning the mistress of the present Thai King. I'm not shure about the policy about mistresses of politicians and royalty on en:Wikipedia, but this might cause problems for Wikipedia in Thailand. Blocking Wikipedia in Thailand has been done in the past for this kind of information. --FredTC (talk) 13:09, 7 June 2018 (UTC)

  • @FredTC: Hello, and thanks for the response! I am not sure on the policy either and will have to see what sort of precedent we have there, but I see royal mistresses mentioned in Charles, Prince of Wales and Albert II, Prince of Monaco, and plenty of political mistresses. I don't think we censor information because of government sensitivity to its politicians' extramarital adventures, but will bow to consensus if that is not the case. Elizabeth Holmes lead sentence

There have been discussions concerning the inclusion of fraud in the lead sentence of the article. IMHO, I believe it to be a violation of MOS:BLPLEAD, WP:LABEL, & WP:EDITCONSENSUS. Please see the discussion at Talk:Elizabeth Holmes/Archives/2019#"Businesswoman"? & Talk:Elizabeth Holmes/Archives/2019#Holmes as an inventor & as a fraud.

We do not use fraud in the first sentence Bernie Ebbers, Jeffrey Skilling, Kenneth Lay, & other articles about executives who have committed fraud. We use neutral language even in the first sentence of Adolph Hitler. Why would we do anything different for the Elizabeth Holmes article? Peaceray (talk) 03:49, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

  • @Peaceray:Hello! I thought I was moving towards a more neutral statement - if you look at the edit before mine, an IP had changed "inventor" to "scammer". I removed that language and consolidated the next sentence with it, since it seemed to combine the main things she is currently known for. But I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other, my main intention was to remove the decidedly non-neutral "scammer" language added by the IP. Thanks for the feedback! PohranicniStraze (talk) 03:54, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
Yes, that previous editor removed a verified statement with citations to reliable sources & introduced a contentious label. I think the correct course of action is to revert such edits rather than to overlook the biased removal of verified information. Peaceray (talk) 04:16, 18 June 2018 (UTC)

Mehmet the conqueror

Hello I have been trying to delete false content from the mehmet the conqueror page but you keep on adding it again. I searched through many sources to discover if these info are right or false and haven't seen any related content. I have searched in turkish arabic and english sources and never seen this info. Prophet Mohammad had a prophecy about the conqueror and He has a special place in both islamic and turkish history. So if you can please remove this content. And i dont have an edit to it because it is not true therefore need to be removed. Thank you Misona85 (talk) 07:09, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

  • @Misona85:Hello, and thanks for the reply! I know that is a contentious section, but you will need to take it to the article's talk page and gain consensus. The section you're trying to remove is backed by several sources (here's a link to the Babinger source in a digital version) and has been discussed on the article's talk page. Perhaps there could be consensus on some qualifying language, like "according to Byzantine historians" since it seems they are the source for most of the contentious claims? This would be similar to how the subject is handled in the Edward II article (see the "Piers Gaveston and sexuality" section), where the persistent rumors about Edward are discussed but qualified with discussion of what evidence does or does not actually exist. Links to deleted pages

Hi! Thank you for your kind words on the fictional swords AfD. I noticed that you do a lot of work removing links to articles that have been deleted. That seems like just the kind of repetitive Wikignoming [edit: I mean this with warmth and sincerity; I would really like to join in] that might suit me (redlinks being valuable in general, but probably not for topics already deleted as not notable). How do you find the pages involved? Mortee (talk) 03:24, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

  • @Mortee:Hello! No offense taken, I find removing deleted page links to be both relaxing and (hopefully) valuable to the project (as it probably slightly discourages the re-creation of non-notable pages). My usual modus operandi is to look through recent AfDs that closed as delete and check the pagelinks for any mainspace links remaining. When I find a page with a link to the deleted page I'm checking, I will usually check the other redlinks on the page to see if any of them were old deleted pages as well, and if so start clearing their mainspace links as well. I also like to check pages that are "List of (whatever)" because those tend to collect links to deleted pages. Hope this is useful to you, and happy editing! Order of entries on surname pages

Just a heads up: the few times this issue has been discussed over the years (e.g. 1, 2) there were arguments for both chronological order and alphabetical order on surname pages, and no strong consensus that one specific order should be enforced on all surname pages. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 03:16, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

Red links

Be careful about unlinking red links. If you haven't recently, you might want to read that section of the documentation. Red links is an important subject because it has to do with notability. Many red links have little or no chance of becoming articles, but some do. Usually editors should not unlink red links, but sometimes there might be good reasons. The particular article you have been unlinking repeatedly used to lead to the Independent Music Awards. I could see that article returning someday because the subject is popular. I've been leaving it alone.

--Salmabadrmaged (talk) 13:31, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

@Salmabadrmaged: Hello! I know all of the wikis have their own rules, so I can't comment on their policies, but the basic standard for general notability here is coverage in reliable sources. The sources used for an article should be independent of the subject, so anything written by the subject himself isn't going to help establish notability. Presumably when the nominator did a search for sources beforehand, nothing significant showed up as far as reliable sources; I know I searched also and didn't find anything that would establish notability. For some subjects like authors, there are additional criteria that you can use to demonstrate notability (see WP:AUTHOR), but still the sources have to back up your claims.
That being said, sources are not required to be in English, and non-English sources wouldn't have shown up in my search (and probably the nominator's). So if you know of non-English language sources that would meet the requirements for reliability, you could post them at the AfD page to demonstrate that the subject should meet notability requirements.
Hope this is helpful. Happy editing! PohranicniStraze (talk) 15:57, 4 November 2018 (UTC)

You beat me to it. I've told the editor that we don't use our articles as sources, but he's ignored me. He's done something similar at Sarbani where I reverted him, and I've taken Ibrahim Sari Saraband to AfD, he's trying to create an article on Sarban (see the Sarani article) and seems to have found this name in a self-published book. Ibrahim sari saraband is a person his all decendent claim it many sources claim it not just one book many books claim this. Sarbani is adopted name for tribe.tribe name should belong to ancestor name in Pashtun people culture so article is a person and tribe name derive from him. Camberwell Carrot is slang from the film Withnail and I, therefore should redirect to the article about the film. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.104.12.180 (talk) 05:19, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello, and thanks for the message! I see your rationale for the redirect, but in the future you may want to put an edit summary when you make a change like that, otherwise it can be easily mistaken for vandalism. I was not familiar with the film in question and don't have a problem with the redirect, but I note the term does seem to have acquired a life of its own - see here at the New Partridge Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English, which mentions some subsequent usage in other works, here for an incident on a cooking show, or here where it is used simply as a byword for drugs in general. I'm not sure if this is sufficient reliable source coverage to justify a short stub, or if a small section on the term would be warranted in the movie's article (maybe in the legacy section?). Pinging @HickoryOughtShirt?4: since they were also discussing the page separately. PohranicniStraze (talk) 15:30, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping! I left the IP a reply here on my talk page as well. The page they wanted to redirect to doesn't even mention the carrot in the article (it is quoted in a reference) so a person such as myself who has never seen the film would have no idea what it means. Questions

Hello, Kbb2. I've seen you have edited Help:IPA/Mandarin, and I kind of need your help.

A few points I'd like to make. First, is the sound "r" (as in 日) really a voiced retroflex approximant [ɻ]? The way I hear it or read about it in other sources, "r" is actually postalveolar, just like the English r as in "red".

This sound has a footnote, too, stating that it was originally transcribed as ʐ. This sound is best transcribed as the "s" in "measure", which is not exactly that sound (which is postalveolar while this is retroflex). So that would mean that if the Pinyin of, for instance, 日, is "ri", then it would have originally been "zi" or "zhi" or something like that? (Z and zh here aren't their present pronunciations, [d͡z] and [ɖ͡ʐ] respectively.

Also, why is it "j" in Wade-Giles? I really never heard of such while studying Chinese. Ever. Is this right? This isn't indiscriminate spamming, by the way. It's a serious question. Seahawks1718 (talk) 13:04, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

@Seahawks1718:Honestly, I'm afraid I can't be of any help. While I did edit the page in question, I was only undoing vandalism by a user who had wiped out a column. I'm not a Mandarin speaker. Sorry I can't be of assistance! PohranicniStraze (talk) 13:23, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Your cut and paste page move has been reversed

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Abdirashid Ali Shermarke a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Abdirashid Shermarke. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:53, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

  • @Diannaa: Hello! Actually, it was an IP editor that originally attempted to make the move by removing the redirect to Abdirashid Ali Shermarke from Abdirashid Shermarke (without the Ali). I initially undid the move because I thought they were making a fork, before I noticed the tag at the top with a histmerge request. Since that tag was requesting admin action, I undid my revert to the previous editor's revision. I really have no idea which naming pattern is better for the individual in the article. Sorry for the confusion! PohranicniStraze (talk) 15:04, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

  • Hello, IP editor. I see you have been (repeatedly) attempting to add this individual to a list. If you look at the other list items, you will see that they link to existing articles, because wikipedia is not a repository of random people. I did a quick check on the individual you are attempting to add, and did not see the sort of reliable source coverage that would demonstrate notability and justify his inclusion. If you know of such sources, you would be much better served to create an article incorporating those sources than to keep adding his name onto a list without any supporting sources. That being said, I note that the individual in question previously had a page, which was deleted because it did not demonstrate his notability, so be aware that an article without solid sourcing will probably be deleted again. ITF delinking

Given the delinking at the ITF articles I'd like to give you some extra advice:

  • "Articles should not contain red links to files, to templates, or to topics that do not warrant an article, such as a celebrity's romantic interest who is not a celebrity in his or her own right, and thus lacks notability." (from WP:RED lede)
  • "Do not create red links to articles that are not likely to be created and retained in Wikipedia, including articles that do not comply with Wikipedia's naming conventions." (from WP:REDNO)
  • "Tennis figures are presumed to be notable if they [...] have won at least one title in any of the ITF Women's $50,000–$100,000+ tournaments, or any of the WTA 125K tournaments. Until 2007, the notability threshold shall be winning a $25,000 tournament based on the lowest payout for a men's challenger tournament in the same year." (from WP:NTENNIS)

In conclusion, I would probably consider having all the nn redlinks nuked from all the ITF pages since they tend to number in the fifties to hundreds, and selectively removing only the deleted links might later leave a distraction for readers. FoxyGrampa75 (talk) 20:46, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

  • @FoxyGrampa75: Hello, and thanks for the comments! I agree that the articles are in need of some serious red-link pruning. Fall survivors

Hi, I tried to add to Wikipedia with little success. But I saw that you have edited the page, that I was attempting to add to, fairly often. It would only let me edit the first paragraph, not real content. I'm not sure what is wrong, maybe editing from a phone. • @BPotterlsc: Hello! Were you trying to add someone to "Category:Fall survivors"? If so, the problem is that you were trying to add someone directly to a category page. To add someone to a category page, you don't edit the category page directly; you have to add the appropriate category to the person's existing wikipedia mainspace article. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Categorization, it should explain everything. Hope this is helpful, happy editing! PohranicniStraze (talk) 13:40, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi PohranicniStraze! I've been running into you in recent changes patrolling and I happened to notice that you don't have the pending changes reviewer user rights. I hope you don't mind, but I went through your contributions and I noticed that you're quite active in recent changes patrolling and that you consistently view and undo vandalism and bad faith disruption. I believe that the pending changes reviewer rights would be useful for you to have and that you'd make good use of the tool. Instead of having you formally request the pending changes reviewer right at WP:PERM, I went ahead and just gave it to you. This user right allows you to review edits that are pending approval on pages currently under pending changes protection and either accept the edits to make them viewable by the general public, or decline and revert them.

Keep these things in mind regarding the tool or when you're reviewing any pending changes:

  • A list of articles with pending edits awaiting review can be viewed at Special:PendingChanges.
  • A list of the articles currently under pending changes protection can be viewed at Special:StablePages.
  • Being granted and having these rights does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you (obviously).
  • You'll generally want to accept any pending changes that appear to be legitimate edits and are not blatant vandalism or disruption, and reject edits that are problematic or that you wouldn't accept yourself.
  • Never accept any pending changes that contain obvious and clear vandalism, blatant neutral point of view issues, copyright violations, or BLP violations.

Useful guidelines and pages for you to read:

I'm sure you'll do fine with the reviewer rights - it's a pretty straight-forward tool and it doesn't drastically change the interface that you're used to already. Nonetheless, please don't hesitate to leave me a message on my user talk page if you run into any questions, get stuck anywhere, or if you're not sure if you should accept or revert pending changes to a page, and I'll be more than be happy to help you. If you no longer want the pending changes reviewer rights, let me know and I'll be happy to remove it for you. Thank you for helping to patrol recent changes and keep Wikipedia free of disruption and vandalism - it's a very thankless job to perform and I want you to know that it doesn't go unnoticed and that I appreciate it very much. Happy editing! :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:11, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

@Oshwah: Thank you, I will try to put it to good use! PohranicniStraze (talk) 16:13, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
You bet! It's a pretty easy tool to use... there's not much more involved than what you already know and can use common sense to figure out, and you'll get the hang of it very quickly. Nonetheless, I think you'll make good use of the tools, and there's no reason why you shouldn't have access to them. You're welcome to message me on my user talk page any time you need or want to, and I'll be happy to help in any way that's needed. :-) Keep up the excellent work, and please know that your time and dedication is valuable and appreciated. Can you explain

Can you explain why did you reverted the redirects? That Nawabganj article was a disambiguation page. And there is a city called Nawabganj(not town). That's why I redirected to all of the elements of Nawabganj to a new page named Nawabganj (disambiguation). But why did you reverted? And that also goes about Jessore (town). This article has a word in it's title "Town", which is not suitable. Because according to Bureau of Statistics, Bangladesh Jessore is a City(not a town). That's why i redirected the and changed it's name to Jessore. But why are you reverting repeatedly?

Hello, IP editor! If you want to move a page or change its name, you may want to request that on the talk page. What you seem to be attempting to do is a cut-and-paste move, which is discouraged. Also, I note that several other editors have reverted the same changes, so you really should go to the talk page rather than simply making the changes repeatedly. Thanks, and happy editing! PohranicniStraze (talk) 03:41, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Ok, I wil request and make discussions in talk page. After that? what?

Actually on further investigation, you may want to post your requests here at the requested moves page; that way it will be more likely to get attention from more editors more quickly. As you already stated, in your previous incarnation as Jony.ftgh, it is for manipulating search robots. Which is still promotion. You're welcome to go argue your case at CfD. Removing the notice from the page won't stop the discussion, by the way. PohranicniStraze (talk) 16:04, 15 September 2019 (UTC)

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages

I see you recently accepted a pending change to September 23 that did not include a direct source.

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the content guideline and the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. I've gone ahead and un-accepted this edit and backed it out.

All the pages in the Days of the Year project have had pending changes protection turned on to prevent vandalism and further addition of entries without direct sources. As a pending changes patroller, please do not accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 22:28, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

  • @Toddst1:Hello, and thanks for the pointer; I was indeed not aware of that change. Is the plan going forward to prune out entries with no direct source listed, or to add a reference for each entry? Just based on the pages I've seen, I'd say about 99% of birth/death entries on DOY pages do not have a source listed, so either way it will be a pretty large undertaking. PohranicniStraze (talk) 23:03, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
Yup. We've gotten a few pages in good shape. Take a look at May 11 and January 1. A few of us are masochists, apparentely - trying to get fake info out of these pages. Those pages are filled with inaccurate info. Toddst1 (talk) 23:06, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
@Toddst1:Good to know! That will keep a few editors busy for quite some time. Considering how many of my edits involve fixing typos, reverting vandalism, or removing links to deleted pages, I'm not going to accuse anyone of masochism. PohranicniStraze (talk) 17:09, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

CSD tagging

Hello, PohranicniStraze,

When you tag a page for any of our forms of deletion, please post a notice about this tagging on the page creator's talk page so they are aware of the situation. If you use Twinkle, you can set it up so this happens automatically. Just go to the Twinkle preferences, check "notify creator" and check each one of the boxes for each type of speedy deletion. 2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Donnie Gedling

Hi, it's very much appreciated that you made a wiki about my grandfather, Donnie Gedling. However, there's a little mistake there. Donnie didn't run for office in 1994. He retired. That was his son, my dad, Donald Joseph "Joey" Gedling, Jr. The margins are right and all. If I knew how to edit wiki, I'd change it. Feel free to email me lesliegedling@yahoo.com. Thanks for your work! Leslie

Hello Leslie, welcome to Wikipedia! I actually didn't write that article, I just made a minor copyedit recently. Looking at the sources, it appears that the Our Campaigns website is counting all of the runs from 1984 to 1994 as the same candidate. The KY elections site does note the 1994 election as "Joey" Gedling, but since they both had the middle name Joseph that is still ambiguous. I will make a note on the talk page regarding the two individuals being conflated, and if you know of any news sources stating that the 1994 candidate was the son of the earlier candidate or something to that effect, you can post a link there to be added to the article. Thanks, and happy editing! PohranicniStraze (talk) 03:43, 23 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

So I have some advice:

  • Try this script. It'll do the job faster.
  • I noticed what you were doing, so could you please not remove the redlinks for Amir Talai? While it was deleted almost three years ago, I am currently working on a draft that should establish his notability better than the first one did because a lot of sources have turned up since the AFD. (No kidding, but I'm hoping having a birthday in the Associated Press makes a person notable - I checked every other person on that day and they all have WP articles)
  • Many Billy Hathorn articles have been deleted in the past few months due to this, so the redlinks should not be removed.

LTA IP hopper

Hi there PohranicniStraze! Pinging FilmandTVFan28 as well. It seems that the best way to deal with that LTA IP hopping troll (which you've both dealt with today) is to protect the target pages. I've re-upped the semi protection on the ones with active vandalism and 1 page that was about to expire in 2 days. If there are any other pages that you'd like me to semi protect, just message me and I'll take a look. EvergreenFir (talk) 23:44, 21 December 2019 (UTC)

Regarding file talk page cleanup

Greetings,

regarding these three edits and similar you've undertaken, it's probably better to add WikiProject templates rather than Template:Talk header; as pointed out in its documentation, we aren't supposed to create pages that consist solely of that template. Sorry for bothering you, but...

New Page Patrol needs experienced volunteers
  • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
  • If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions and review our instructions page. You can apply for the user-right HERE. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 20:26, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Redlink removal

Hi there! Just a friendly ask – please be careful when you're removing redlinks for articles that have been deleted, so that you're only doing it for topics that are not valid subjects for articles.

A few days ago, you removed a series of redlinks related to KWXR, WEAD-LP, and WJQY-LP. These are all operating radio stations that are licensed by the FCC and, as a result, are all likely to have articles created about them at some point in the future. The redlinks help highlight the fact that these articles are still outstanding.

There are lots of reasons why previous articles may have been deleted that would not preclude recreation — three likely possibilities are that the deleted article was a copyright violation, the article was created prior to the station being licensed for broadcast operation, or the deleted article was for a station that had previously used that same call sign.

@Olasunkanmi007: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Nationality doesn't have any role to play in this at all, we're all Wikipedians here. The page you're attempting to edit is a Category page, not a list article. Category pages are not articles themselves, they are for organizing existing Wikipedia articles. You do not edit the category itself to add items to it; you add a link to the category at the bottom of the page you're trying to add. For a better explanation, please refer to WP:PAGECAT. @Kamsar dildarnagar 786786786: Hello, Kamsar. The reason I reverted the edits is a reliable source was not cited for the addition. None of the individuals listed appear to meet notability guidelines for Wikipedia, and Wikipedia is not a directory for adding indiscriminate lists of local residents. 10 years

It has been 10 years for you, how did you not get discouraged and pull through article sourcing when it is a herculean task especially getting articles from specific regions? Honestly sometimes I do not even understand the reason for some tags/warnings. Need to learn. Thank you IJ30ma Irene (talk) 01:02, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

@IJ30ma Irene: Wow, it has been ten years. I feel old now!
Don't be discouraged - Wikipedia really does need people who will work on specific regional topics, especially from parts of the world that most of our editors aren't that familiar with. I've written a few such articles (for Thailand), and sourcing really can be a challenge; I've started a couple times trying to write a page for my wife's university, and given up because the sources are just so hard to find. It's worth it, though, when the article comes together and you know that you've added something valuable that may not have been written otherwise. One really good starting point for creating articles as a new editor would be the guide put together by the Women in Red Project at this page; although it is focused on writing effective biographies for women, really it has a lot of good information for writing any article.
I saw that your article at Yetunde Teriba was the unfortunate victim of a block-evading vandal who moved it around to several different locations. Unfortunately, vandals are a part of life here, but the good thing is that few things in Wiki are unfixable. The pages created in error have been deleted, and it looks like your page is back where it belongs now, so I hope this doesn't discourage you in future edits. Have an excellent day, and happy editing! PohranicniStraze (talk) 03:23, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the note. I blocked the user. Given they had explicitly admitted to being the blocked user (in the file upload), it was pretty straight-forward. :) --Yamla (talk) 11:18, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

@Yamla: Speaking of that particular banned user, I've been keeping an eye out and think they have another sock going - if you have a minute, check the page history at Draft:Rockstar Games Launcher. It seems very interesting that a "new user" who has much of the same editing patterns (a particular interest in Memphis schools, adding/removing protection templates to random pages) as a blocked user, took such an interest in the same obscure draft as that same blocked user. sir/Madam I request u to Add Autonomous State Medical college, Shahjahanpur in Wikipedia article "List of medical college in India" under State Uttar Pradesh. Thanku very much. Surajwise (talk) 15:42, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

@Surajwise: Hello! It looks like you're currently working on a draft for that institution. Drafts can't be added to categories, but when/if the article is accepted to mainspace, you can have it show up in categories by adding Category:Medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh at the bottom of the article. Hope this is helpful! PohranicniStraze (talk) 16:55, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

I know that

I know categories are for organizing Wikipedia articles, and I want you to put the categories I put on Draft:Yacine: Summer Holiday's back there. YacinePedia (talk) 22:38, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

@YacinePedia: I don't think you quite understand. A category isn't a way of adding hyperlinks to an article. A category is for organizing multiple articles by common characteristics. For instance, you could have a category for Dog Breeds that you put the pages for German Shepherd Dog, Pomeranian, Rottweiler, etc., into, because they all are dog breeds. The categories you are creating are not going to be useful for organizing different Wikipedia pages together. In any case, draft pages should not be placed into categories regardless. PohranicniStraze (talk) 19:42, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

'== Of course ==

I do understand it, bye.

'== One thing. ==

So, Yacine: Summer Holiday's is a random series, it should be in the random series category. Yacine: Summer Holiday's is a recorded series with 4 episodes, it should be in the recorded series with 4 episodes category. Yacine: Summer Holiday's is a series, it should be in the Yacine: 4 Episodes List and the Yacine: Summer Holiday's category, along with everything that relates to this. Yacine: Summer Holiday's is a web series, it should be in the list of web series episodes category. Please understand what I am saying and please do not say that you don't think I quite understand, listen, I do. YacinePedia (talk) 13:04, 18 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi, P-S, thanks for your 'thank', always reassuring to have a nod from the article's originator... @Eebahgum: I agree, it would be nice to know more details about Slaney, and for that matter many of the other individuals of that time, but it seems like there is a dearth of sources for most of them. I've written articles for quite a few Lord Mayors of London, but there were at least a dozen more that I started researching and just could not find enough references for even a stub; very surprising for some of the most successful people of their time. In any case, I appreciate your work improving the article; have a great day, and happy editing! PohranicniStraze (talk) 17:44, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Category:Human extinction, 00:42, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

I just discovered that my adult, autistic daughter has been editing Wikipedia articles. I don't know if she has an account. She is very distraught about the idea of human extinction. I couldn't find the change she made, but I believe she tried to add that "human extinction is a myth" or, perhaps "an urban legend." She has promised not to try to edit Wikipedia anymore. Sorry. Sparkmadley (talk) 04:54, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

@Sparkmadley: Hello! I do remember those edits. They were made by an IP, not a registered account. They were quickly fixed, so no harm done. Thanks for the note, and best wishes to the both of you! PohranicniStraze (talk) 18:23, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi there! My apologies on reverting to the wrong version as the IP editor change the lead to a mythical story, see diff here. IP comment

Good day, Sir! deleting additions which expands the topic of the article shold according to Wikipedia rules be properly explained and give valid reasons for. Citing your personal opinion as (Not an improvement) as grounds is against the ground philosophy of Wikipedia, Sir. I provide this advice in friendship as I see you have taken aninterest in Royalty and Nobility, and Nobility obliges, young man and manners are appreciated. Thus, as I support the concept of treating people with reapect I give you this pep-talk and advice instead of writing "Your editing sucks" or "I don`t like you" or other imature behaviour. I hope you take this in the best meaning and if you were just having a bad day, we all do sometimes. Enjoy your weekend young man.

Having said that I noticed an error I had made and corrected it my self. So you see you man, I , practise what I preach! Good day, Sir.

And good day to you. Over the course of my editing I have learned a few things. I have, for instance, learned that not all additions are improvements. I have learned that I should not place references at the top of an article. I have learned that when an experienced editor reverts an edit, I should perhaps check to make sure that the mistake is not on my part. And I have learned that saying "not an improvement", rather than listing out the deficiencies of an edit, is sometimes the most courteous response. That being said, I hope you continue to take an interest in improving the encyclopedia, and are not discouraged by your early reversions. There are still many historical figures, whether noble or not, who need articles. PohranicniStraze (talk) 17:42, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, PohranicniStraze,

First, thanks for your editing. But I have one request. Could you use Twinkle when you tag pages for deletion? It's really easy and, once you set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator", Twinkle will post a notice of your page tagging on the talk page of the page creator. This is an important step that doesn't happen when you just put a deletion tag on a page and if you skip it, the page creator has no idea what has happened to their work because only admins can view Deleted Contributions. Even for pages that really deserve deletion, it's a courtesy to let page creators know what has happened. And with Twinkle, the program does all of the work for you. Please consider it. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:37, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

@Liz: Hello Liz, and thanks for the note! I will look into twinkle, although I generally prefer manual editing (other than rollback, and it took me a while to trust that!). I normally do use the canned deletion notice when it's available, but lately most of my deletion nominations are either technical deletions or talk pages of non-existent pages, neither of which includes a notice for some reason. Looking at the twinkle documentation, it looks like it doesn't notify on G6 or G8 cases either. Can it be set up to notify on those criteria, or is there a generic speedy notification for when the template doesn't include one? If so, I'd be happy to use it. It does seem like the G6 and G8 templates should have a canned notification available, but that is a bit beyond my level. Thanks! PohranicniStraze (talk) 03:57, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello, PohranicniStraze,

I saw that you tagged this page for deletion. There are often talk pages without articles because new editors, especially IP editors, can not create articles so they use the talk page as a place to write on. There is even a nightly report, Wikipedia:Database reports/Orphaned talk pages, that lists talk pages without accompanying articles. You can always tag them CSD G8 "Talk page of a nonexistent or deleted page". Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 05:10, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi PohranicniStraze, I see you're one of the few currently active members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Louisiana and have some experience with articles about biographies of colonial-era people. The Étienne de Perier article was blown up with an edit war recently, and I've been working on a full rewrite, using the Talk page to get consensus before fixing the article directly. It could benefit from having some more voices in the discussion. Everything's been rewritten and updated on the main article, except for the sections covering his time as governor. That section is in progress at Talk:Étienne de Perier/Temp. —Carter (talk) 19:33, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Making it easier to search the pages within a category.

Re https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Selective_serotonin_reuptake_inhibitors&oldid=1029813923 do you think I'm right about something like that being a good idea to be included/transcluded onto category pages? Much like the "External tools" links are included on page history pages? The syntax is little documented - e.g. no mention of it at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Category#Searching_for_pages_in_categories. (Feel free to move this comment to a WT: page for further discussion.) --50.201.195.170 (talk) 07:33, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Hello! Upon taking a second look, I can see where that would be a useful tool, especially for heavily-populated categories. I will look for a suitable policy page where I can request community input. In the meantime, I will be happy to self-revert for the time being. Thanks! PohranicniStraze (talk) 18:21, 22 June 2021 (UTC)

Lament for Dark Peoples and Other Poems

What is your problem with this wiki ? Please could you explain how this wiki could be improved to your content ? J.T.W.A.Cornelisse (talk)

No answer yet, I wonder whether it will ever come. I found some more sources about the booklet. Please coulld you expain your problem. The wiki about the wikipedia-standards... It would take a year to read it all. That long... J.T.W.A.Cornelisse (talk)
@J.T.W.A.Cornelisse: I have been busy in real life and mostly sticking to minor wiki editing for the last few days. I do see that the lead has been cleaned up a bit since I placed the tag. My main problem with the page is that it seems to have very little reliably-sourced, third-party information about the book itself. It appears the "content" section has been copied nearly verbatim (with some spelling errors) from the front of the book. The colophon, likewise, is a verbatim copy of existing text as well. The bulk of the rest of the page is simply a list of the poems in the book. The sources provided are mostly links to individual poems from the book, plus a link to a digital copy of the book itself. The only useful third-party sources I can see are the Koninklijke Bibliotheek and DBNL links, which do at least provide sourcing for the publisher, number of copies, and other basic data.
I would recommend that the "content" section should probably be struck entirely, with more sourced content added regarding the importance of this particular book itself. I was able to find this source, which briefly mentions (on page 195) the book's use by the Dutch Underground in WWII. This source lists the book in a catalog of clandestinely-published books, but I don't know that it necessarily adds anything beyond the KB and DBNL sources. Other than that, I am not seeing a lot of significant coverage of the book itself; perhaps there are more Dutch-language sources available? PohranicniStraze (talk) 17:31, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Your main problem ??? with the page is that it seems to have very little reliably-sourced ????, third-party information ???? about the book itself. ???
My source is a real copy of this very rare edition, How can this not be rellably ???
What I did add are some links to sites with most of the poems. In the end I found the extra information about the printer, editor en typographer involved with the this edition.
What I see at wiki's about many books on wikipedia, is that a list of the content of the book is not to found in the wiki at all.
I do not know what extra info there could be found, adding info I will surely except, but scrapping all aout the content ? WHY WHY
J.T.W.A.Cornelisse (talk)
As you say - the main "source" for the article is the book itself, which is a primary source. What would be preferred are third-party reliable sources talking about the book itself to establish its notability. Also, I didn't say remove all the content, I said you should probably remove the section titled "content" because it is directly copied from the book itself. I am not sure if this is a copyright issue because of the unusual circumstances of the publication. While I personally think there is the germ of an interesting story here - due to the Dutch Underground connection - given the scarcity of sources I question whether the article would survive an AfD, as it is very questionable whether it would meet notability guidelines for books. PohranicniStraze (talk) 15:59, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
The copyright ? There's the scanned copy on the dutch dellpher site. The third party is the book about illigal editions during war time in Holland. What do you want more ? Whenever you could find other sources in the USA or elsewhere they woulld certainly be welcommed. I do not knpow how to find those.J.T.W.A.Cornelisse (talk)

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Diabolic Reincarnation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stefan2 (talk) 19:10, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

@Stefan2: No objections from me; it's been mistakenly moved to Wikipedia space twice, and I've moved it back to draft twice. PohranicniStraze (talk) 23:04, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello, PohranicniStraze,

When you tag pages for any type of deletion (CSD, PROD, AFD/MFD/TFD/etc,), please post a notice on the talk page of the page creator so they are aware that a page they created as been tagged for deletion and the reason why. This can help keep them from repeating mistakes. Also, since regular editors have no access to their Deleted Contributions, they might not even be aware that their page creation has been deleted. It's an important step of the process of deletion.

I understand that you are a experienced editor, but I encourage you to make use of Twinkle when you tag pages. If you set up your Preferences to "Notify page creator", then Twinkle will write and post these notices for you which makes things very convenient. It's a very helpful program for tagging all types of pages for the different types of deletion. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 04:01, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

Good Afternoon,

I’m confused to why you would keep removing this reference. I am surprised that you keep continually doing it. The information added is correct and has probably increased the traffic to this section since.

It needs reinstating onto the page. The alumni of Lincoln college will understand this and are more likely to use the word in this way. I’m not sure what else I could do to make you see reason. Mikedowning BSC (talk) 22:28, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

@Mikedowning BSC: The page you are editing is a disambiguation page, for distinguishing between the articles of two or more pages with the same or similar titles. It is not a place for trivia, particularly unreferenced trivia. Feel free to create an article on the topic if you have reliable source references to support its notability. Please make me clear what is far right Islam ? ISLAM is not what Zakir Naik tells you or somebody like Mufti Menk. Prophet Muhammad PBUH clearly said that who insults him............... A Westerner cannot change Islam, if they try what happened to them you can see in Afghanistan. What are reliable sources, aren't around 60 percent of 200 million people reliable. These sources only see Taliban or any other Muslim executing people but don't see CIA and US army doing war crimes. Hyperforever (talk) 17:41, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
