Conventions[edit]

One of the useful things about having a Wikipedia convention that requires titles to be singular except when there's a special reason to use the plural, is that it helps avoid situations where one article is titled maximal functions and another is titled maximal function and the two authors are unaware of each others' work. Until a few minutes ago, there was an article you created, with the plural title maximal functions, and a redirect page titled maximal function, that actually redirected to a page OTHER than maximal functions. I've fixed the situation. To do that while preserving the edit history required deletion of the redirect page, something that can be done only by an admin. So following the conventions can save some trouble.

Also, when you create an article, using the singular, it's a good idea to create a new redirect page with the plural title. Michael Hardy (talk) 02:38, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
