Sheikha and Jasrat issue[edit]
Salamz bro and thanks for your question. You are right, many elders have differing opinions of ancestral lineal research, but due to the loss of this info with time (we are a busy people lol) this info is open to be claimed by intruders. i.e. the Sheikha issue. I personally believe they were both Kokhars and not Gakhars as they are confirmed apparently by the Kokhar Rajputs of Pind Dadan Khan side only, which I firmly believe is the royal line of Kokhars (as opposed to the Jat side which may be suspect...) and you are right, I have heard of their martial repute no doubt.
Raja Jehandad Khan was an avid researcher and would no doubt have claimed this great anctral repute had his intentions been less noble i.e. to impress the British. But I find him to be quite innocent and noble in his intention to confirm this to the Kokhar Rajeh. Truly inspirational by todays academic standards.
You are very right and I am very impressed regarding your research i.e. the village names of Jasrota and Sheikhapura. I would continue this research to fully ascertain this fact.
Regarding the Janjua point, you are right, there are a tribe of Janjuas alledging chaudhry status in those areas, and they are from the Jhelum Janjua branch, but they have given their Rajput title up after intermarriage with Jats and are since not accepted equally as Rajputs by the more stricter and powerful clans. They have with time assumed the Chaudhry title and are seen as Jats. They also admit this from what I have heard. Interesting what you write I am amazed at your in depth knowledge about these things. You are right about the pride of the main branches of Gakhar Rajeh hoarding rishteys in order not to dilute their blood etc but I have seen that this was a folly on their part that only led to increased elopement of Gakhar women with men of lesser lineages.
There is one Gakhar clan in Mirpur AK Kanyal who are very much "Jat" these days or am I mistaken about that clan. Perhaps you could give some examples of other Gakhar clans who are using the lower Jat status. Thanks

- I too have heard from some local Mirpuri friends of mine that such is the case regarding a Gakhar clan in Mirpur, but bro, the clan itself has been subject to much branching since the Sikh age, a lot of displacement. I personally do not believe the Mirpuri Gakhar alledgers are purebloods at all, but they maybe from outside marriages, as prior to the Sikh age or the last Gakhar Sultan Muqarrab Khan's time, no Gakhars would venture that far for residency. They ousted many Chibs from the Gujrat sides and some remain there, but again, they intermarried locally and weren't well reputed with the base clans anymore.
- It was a folly on their part, it was also unIslamic to hoarde rishte, but bro you must remember, certain warrior clans had a Political and Financial status. Therefore, marriages would only be considered as Political alliances, economic improvements for trade, arms, soldiers, etc Gakhars and Janjuas were always enemies in the Pothwar, yet today, many have now intermarried with eachother as although enemies, they respected each other very much for their martial strength and prestige as royal warrior princes.
