Tennis at the 2011 Pan American Games – Qualification

Hi, a user has removed the red links from some of the athletes while leaving some with the red links. They claim it fails WP:NTENNIS. I believe though the article, is falls more under the scope of WP:MSE. What do you think? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 15:02, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Also, the information on participants is here [1] so you can update the nation pages if you like. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 22:22, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi! I'll try to get some updates in for the nation pages. Yeah, there are a few WP:TENNIS folks patrolling for players failing WP:NTENNIS. It's unfortunate, but I'll check it out and see what can be done. You could theoretically argue for notability outside WP:NTENNIS, and that would be acceptable as under the scope of WP:MSE. I think that'd work. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 00:40, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Exactly, for the tennis pages they should share equal weight (as in the projects) but for nation pages I don't think its necessary to remove the red links. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:56, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Badminton at the 2011 Pan American Games – Men's singles

Hi, I am struggling (lol) to add another section to this diagram in the draw section. Here is the draw [2] and there is one first round matchup in each singles draw I am having difficulty adding. Can you add that match into the draw. Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 23:49, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Haha, I was just sending you a message about that! Here's what I was writing to you:
"Hey Intoronto! Thanks for filling out the draw on the badminton pages! For the men's and women's pages, I noticed that there is one match that's outside the 16 team bracket on each half. I don't think it should be left out, but there aren't too many options for displaying it without going to much trouble. The options would be: 1) replace the template with a 32 team bracket (namely, {{32TeamBracket-Compact-Tennis3}}; I don't like it very much), 2) split the draw into quarters (Sections 1, 2, 3, 4) and create 8 and 16 team brackets to hold those (much like a tennis tournament draw is split in quarters), or 3) take the currently undocumented match and add it as a separate match to the draw (much like Berg vs Jensen at this page). There's probably other options, but those are the ones I had right off the top of my head. Any suggestions? Thanks!" Prayerfortheworld (talk) 23:51, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
I Guess I am psychic, lol. The first option will not work, because there will be too much white space (the template with the bye option does not exist). Splitting it into four would work as well.

For the third option I was thinking something along the lines of this which is from here:

Round of 128

Round of 128
Score
Ayrin Ismetov (BUL) 13–6  Matius Mandiangan (INA)
Hmmm... I'm not too big a fan of the table. I'd rather keep with the bracket format and have a bracket. I think our best option might be splitting it into quarters. What do you think? Prayerfortheworld (talk) 00:06, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Yes that sounds like the best idea at this point. However, the draw from the BWF site has it split into halves. I do think though the quarters idea is the best. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:50, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll split it up into quarters then. Thanks! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 02:23, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
I have the women's draw finished here Is there anything missing? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:49, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I was actually just putting in the women's draw. It looks right to me. I can work on the men's draw, unless you have already. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 02:52, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Did you finish? It sucks we both worked on the same draw. I started on the women's draw, because I thought you would do the men's. Sorry! I haven't started the men's draw yet though. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:57, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Another thing, do you see where it says "first round" in the first section? There really isn't any first round match in that section is there anyway we can remove that heading altogether? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:58, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
I've just started the men's draw. Haha it was unfortunate.. ran into a little edit conflict, but things are alright now! You know what, I think you might want to keep it, just to stay consistent... Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:00, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
That is a good reason! Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 03:01, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Done, and no problem! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:10, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

I just thought I'd let you know that I saw your article 2011 Credit Suisse Women's Masters Basel in the New Articles list-- It would be great if you could also improve the related article Credit Suisse Women's Masters Basel. Jipinghe (talk) 17:32, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll try to, though it isn't easy, seeing as curling events get very little coverage compared to other more popular sporting events. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 23:53, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Template Paso Athlete

Hey anyway you can make the PASO athlete template show the PASO flag instead of the Netherlands Antilles flag? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 21:21, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Should be good to go now. Add PASO as the fourth parameter, like this: {{flagPASOathlete|Name|AHO|2011|PASO}}. That will give you  Name (AHO). Prayerfortheworld (talk) 23:49, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Great thanks! Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:00, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
No problem! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 00:03, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Just a question, will you be watching the Opening Ceremonies? If so can you write down the flagbearers of the countries without any information over at 2011 Pan American Games national flag bearers. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:04, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm not very sure... what time are they? If I can, I'll try to keep an eye out for that. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 00:13, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
They start at 9 EST, I believe they are on ESPN Desportes in the USA. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:16, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Here is a live stream in Spanish [3] Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:40, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Is it possible to put the PASO Flag on the Template:FlagPASOTeam? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 04:29, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
I'll have to look into it a little more. {{flagPASOteam}} uses {{flagIOC2team}} as a base template, so I need to find some way to work around that. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 05:39, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
We have two options. Either we can edit {{flagIOC2team}} to accommodate the PASO flag (highly undesirable), or we can take {{flagPASOteam}} off the {{flagIOC2team}} base and have it utilize its own code. The latter option is more preferable, of course, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up before I went ahead with changing it, since it's a pretty big change. Do you think that will be okay? Prayerfortheworld (talk) 13:50, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Which ever one causes the least troubles is good. Ye I was a member of the forum until I started to receive e-mails begging me to post more and to leave wikipedia. I will not stand for that garbage. BTW ready for updating results? They will be coming in huge waves. The squash singles and table tennis team draws have been made. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:54, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
{{flagPASOteam}} should now work. Just add PASO as the third parameter, like this: {{flagPASOteam|AHO|2011|PASO}}. That should give  Netherlands Antilles (AHO). Ah, I see. I wasn't very impressed by the forum, and I don't think I'd leave Wikipedia either. I'll be ready, one way or the other haha.. I was just looking at the squash manual yesterday, and I couldn't make heads or tails of it, but the draw information should help. Thanks! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 14:01, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Just a heads up, I'll do the men's draw for squash and you can do female's draw so we don't end up doing the same thing. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:03, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
That would be a great idea, thanks! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 14:05, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
You know for the template 16TeamBracket-Compact-Tennis5-Byes, the blank lines stick out. Can you remove them please. Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:07, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Sure, I'll get to work on that in a bit. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 14:08, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
The tennis template is updated. Is the results page down again? It says "service unavailable" for eery page I'm trying to access. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 14:40, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Its really slow for me, not down though. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:42, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm... Hopefully it picks up in a bit so I can start editing. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 14:52, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Another template that needs PASO added to it: {{flagPASO|NCA|2011} Intoronto1125TalkContributions 20:54, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Done and done. Be aware that this template has an optional third parameter present already, so you'll have to use the fourth parameter. (e.g. {{flagPASO|AHO|2011||PASO}} if third parameter not existent). Prayerfortheworld (talk) 00:07, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I wish him all the best. Back to the Pan Am Games, [4] I used only a total column for qualification, but other events have each of the six rounds listed. Which do you prefer? I prefer the one with just the total, because it takes much less time to slot in the results. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 05:16, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Looking at the page for the Olympics 10m air pistol event, I'd say that having all 6 would be nice, but I think that for now just the total would be sufficient, because it does take less time to input. Maybe the six rounds could be listed later on, when things aren't as hectic. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 15:39, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Off course time permitting. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 15:52, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Template:FlagPASOmedalist and {{flagPASOteam|AHO|2011||PASO} needs the PASO flag addition to it, because the Netherlands Antilles has won a gold medal. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 21:05, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
For {{flagPASOteam}}, the PASO flag capability has already been added, here is the code: {{flagPASOteam|AHO|2011|PASO}}. I have just added the capability for {{flagPASOmedalist}}, here is the code: {{flagPASOmedalist|Name|AHO|2011|PASO}} Prayerfortheworld (talk) 21:33, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I found another place this needs to be done. Template:Infobox Pan American Games Event also needs that fixed up. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 21:36, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
For {{Infobox Pan American Games event}}, instead of using the goldNOC parameter, simply place {{flagPASOathlete|Name|AHO|2011|PASO}} in the gold parameter, and don't include the goldNOC parameter. To change the template to fit this one thing would be pretty ugly, so I think that's why this capability was included. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 22:00, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion, but it does not come out like the other countries do (the name of the country doesn't show). Intoronto1125TalkContributions 22:04, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm still not a huge fan of changing the template, since it seems like it will be a mess. What you can do is leave out the goldNOC parameter and place the following in the gold parameter: Name <td> {{flagPASO|AHO|2011||PASO}}</td> That way, we avoid changing the template but still get it to look like what it would be if both the gold and goldNOC parameters were used. I went ahead and made the change so that you could see what it looks like. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 22:44, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Looks awesome! Thanks for all the work you put in to this project! Intoronto1125TalkContributions 22:46, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
No problem! Glad to help out! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 22:55, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Tennis 2011PAG

Just a heads up, tennis draws have been released. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:53, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

I was wondering when they would be! Never thought they'd come out when I was at dinner. Thanks! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:14, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
I'm actually having a little trouble accessing the results site. Is that just me? Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:16, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Oops, sorry for disturbing you. I am so overwhelmed with all the information! Intoronto1125TalkContributions 03:16, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
It's fine, I had just finished dinner when I got the message. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:25, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Were only the men's and women's singles and mixed doubles draws posted up? I can't find the men's and women's doubles draws. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 05:06, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
I can't seem to find them either. Maybe its released tomorrow? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 05:09, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Possibly, since only the men's and women's singles and mixed doubles draws have matches played tomorrow. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 05:10, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi, if you get anytime can you work on the swimming section? The events from the 16th are not updated and the today's events will add to incompleteness. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:42, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
I will try to, but I might have my hands full with the other sports I'm watching. By the way, do you know if there's any set guideline for bolding scores on nation pages? I'm not sure if winning scores are supposed to be bolded or if the athlete's scores are supposed to be bolded, regardless of won/lost scores. See here for an example. Thanks! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 13:55, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Not too sure, but the "bolding" does help the reader identify which nation/athlete won the point without transferring to the sport's page. There is too many sports, to cover lol! Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:59, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Okay then, I think that works. Haha yeah, more than the Olympics! It's a good amount of work for everyone working on these pages... Prayerfortheworld (talk) 14:03, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Racquetball draws start today! So many... Intoronto1125TalkContributions 14:51, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Yep... men's, women's, singles, doubles... all pools.... I'll set them up in a short while! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 00:37, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
I hate the fact that they do that (the groups), it means much more work for us!
It's not absolutely abhorrent though, so I'm fine with it. The pools are up for racquetball now, so that's some work out of the way! Just have to wait for some more stuff to come in... things are usually updated when I go to check, so I end up having a little bit less to do... I'm still waiting for the men's and women's doubles draws for tennis, they haven't appeared yet.. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 06:05, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
Draws are up. For racquetball do you plan on listing the matches after the games or just leaving it? As for badminton, [5] I am thinking their is no bronze medal matches for the singles draws.Intoronto1125TalkContributions 13:47, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
For racquetball, I might just leave it and see what I can do about it later.. It seems as if there are no bronze medals, so it'll probably be the semifinalists... ach. The Americans aren't doing so well... Prayerfortheworld (talk) 13:55, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
OVerall they are destroying the competition lol! Just wish Canada had sent their "A" teams in swimming and athletics. Table tennis singles and Squash teams are up now. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:46, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Overall, yes haha, but they're suffering in squash and badminton (somewhat). Canada are doing well, are they not? Okay awesome! I'll take a look and update them. I'm working on the racquetball results from today. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:00, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
I would say Canada's results of so-so. They were supposed to sweep the group gymnastics competition but did not win a gold. Their swimming team is really weak (and you can tell be the results). I'll be busy for the next two days so the workload will be much more, lol. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 03:09, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Hmm.... It's rather unfortunate... bits and pieces coming together, but not the whole, I suppose. Yeah, MSEs aren't exactly the most stressless things to update on Wikipedia haha but I'll do my best to help alleviate some of that stress. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 05:01, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Interview with Wikimedia Foundation

Hi Prayer, I hope you're well. My name is Matthew Roth and I'm a Storyteller working on the 2011 fundraiser with the Wikimedia Foundation in San Francisco. In past years, we've relied on Jimbo to carry the bulk of the fundraising weight and he's done very well helping us hit our yearly funding targets. This year, however, we're broadening the scope and reach of the fundraiser by incorporating more voices and different people on the funding banners and appeals that will start running full-time on November 7th. We're testing new messages and finding some really great results with editors and staff members of the Foundation. You can see the current progress of the tests here. I'm curious if you would want to participate in an interview with me as part of this process? The interviews usually last 60 minutes and involve a number of questions about your personal editing experiences, as well as general questions about Wikipedia and its impact in the world. Please let me know by emailing mroth (at) wikimedia.org. Thanks! Matthew (WMF) 17:52, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, it's very much a noteworthy article! It needs to be expanded though. The picture is probably a screenshot from youtube. -- Earl Andrew - talk 06:43, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

It is too rare to have happened in major tournament play very often. We can discuss the most points scored at various tournaments (the Brier, the Scotties). We can talk about why it happens when it does, etc. How often it happens, what happens when it occurs, etc. -- Earl Andrew - talk 17:16, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

RE: 2011 Vancouver Island Shootout

Lets start with the wikipedia guidelines for editing and adding information.. paraphrasing the guidelines you are to add as much information to an article as possible with references. Simply adding standing boxes is not enough. Since the men's section has draw brackets, it is sufficient to add result boxes to the women's section, since the women's tournament does not have draw brackets. The men's section does not need it, as it has the draw brackets. If you still wish to add result boxes to the men's section, please do so.

In terms of the zeros in any of the result boxes, that you seem to deem unnecessary they are not, they serve a purpose. Lets clarify. Every result box is capped with a date and time, including time zone. As a viewer, as long as your can read, and understand what you are reading, you will see a box full of zeros signifies a game that has not begun. In order for a game to be won, as you should know, there needs to be a winning team. There is no such thing as a tied game in curling. This is how it has been done since I started working in wikipedia. In terms of serving a purpose, those who use wikipedia as a tool for finding out information on tournaments, they might view the page to find out when a team might be playing another. When you remove the zeros from the score box, it removes the information from the score box until a score is entered. This is why we leave the zeros in. There have never been complaints about using zeros in the past, you are the only one who has a problem with this.

Here is an example of what happens adding zeros vs removing them. See for yourself the differences.

RE:Boundary Ford

Rational= There is no need for the flags without names. I have my own way of editing. Also I don't need you constantly interfering with my editing.

Answer to last discussion= I will add zeros as I please, to the pages I create, as I am the one who ends up doing the editing as it stands.

In all honesty, I had hoped that we would be able to work out our differences and work together. I'm sorry that you see my edits as interfering with yours. To be quite frank, I feel that there's a need for uniformity and consistency across all the curling pages, and I'm not sure how that would be possible, seeing as you prefer to do things "your way." I want to help you update the pages you create, since it helps out all of us, but it seems as if you are adamantly against that. I would hope that we can lay aside any animosity and work together as part of WP:CURLING to improve coverage of curling on Wikipedia. Hopefully you agree. Please let me know how I can help. 2014 Winter Olympics.

Hi, I was wondering if you have heard anything about the qualification system in curling for the Olympics? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 00:37, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I remember reading that there will be a qualification tournament involved with this time's Olympics, but I'm not sure where I read it. I'll take a look around and see what I can get! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 02:23, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Sounds great! Also should we plot in New Zealand into the qualification table in your sandbox? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:39, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes, that would be a good idea. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 02:54, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
The rules and regulations for all events were updated in June 2011, with the qualification and playing format remaining identical to 2010 for the olympics (page 33), I initiated making a page earlier this week and found your talk page by chance today. Basically I duplicated the 2010 page with only the information that appeared to me to be current, please use your expertise to improve it. FYI, I did discuss the relevence of having the page there now with an admin first.18abruce (talk) 22:53, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
I also found this, [6] which says any changes will be for the 2018 WOG. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 23:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Sounds about right. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 04:44, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Templates.

How would I make this template (Template:FlagPASOathlete) compatible for the -rt function like this one Template:Fh-rt? Thanks. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 18:43, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Uh what did you want to do this for? Usually the -rt template type is used with teams/nations. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 00:39, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
Well I am filling out the karate results here and its like team sports when filling the results. I was just wondering if it can be compatible? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 01:18, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure that using a field hockey box is the best way to document karate matches... I would advocate making another type of results box for karate results, but I'm not sure how that would work... If you wanted to go ahead with the field hockey box, you would want to create a new template for a -rt display. I'll help with that, but I think there might be a better way to document karate results... What do you think about this? Prayerfortheworld (talk) 02:46, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
I thought about this, and yes a separate template would be much better. However I have no clue on how to make it, considering this is an individual event. Would you like to create it when you get the time? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:52, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
I'm currently looking through old results pages to see if I can get anything, but there's absolutely nothing on individual matches, only knockout brackets. The closest thing I have to a single match results box is the format that the Guadalajara Pan Am Games used (like this). I'll keep poking around, and I'll see what I can do about the karate results box. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:18, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
The format is only used at the Pan American Games I believe. Karate isn't a well followed sport so I doubt you will find anything here. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 03:21, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi. In 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page TSN (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). RE: Scotties-Brier

I have gone through several years of creating and editing these pages. There is a difference between the WCT and Canadian National Championships. There should be consistency between all STOH pages, all Brier pages and clear distinction between WCT pages and Canadian National Championship pages. I have spent hours developing almost 20 years of Scotties pages through the records. I have used the template laid out when I began this. Just because you are anal retentive about how you want things to be, doesn't necessarily mean it the right thing for that page or pages. I'm not sure why you are suddenly gung-ho on adding days of the week to draws, when the pages in the past have not had them before, it is not necessary to have it, and to start removing time zones, when they have been posted in that manner on other pages. Tiebreakers have always been posted to the draw pages, not hidden from public view, they are even posted on official draw schedules. I'm not sure why you feel the need to hide them. I, and others who have done these pages in the past, have always shown the tie breaker, with 'if necessary' stated, even though they show the opportunity to have three tiebreakers, we post one. I have been working hard to develop these pages, and this year have been adding more information than has ever been posted previously, especially to the provincial pages. This is how the pages have been formed and developed, and quite frankly if you don't like how we've been creating them over the years, don't bother editing and adding your obsessiveness to them! We've been doing quite well without your disruptions. Perhaps you should just focus on developing your american pages and leave the Canadian pages to those of us on the Canadian curling scene! Sirrussellott (talk) 17:14, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

I still don't understand your view on this. I'm trying to aim for uniformity across all curling pages, and I don't get why you feel that WCT pages and the national championships pages should be different. You still haven't given me a reason why you feel that the days of the week are not necessary and for why the time zones are necessary, and all you've told me is that you've done this in the past and the other pages have it. I've given you my reasons for why I think those changes should be made, but you haven't given me any feedback. I understand your view on the tiebreakers, and I only wish that you would have let me know your reasons for doing that when I first took them out. Honestly, I am very grateful for your contributions, since the curling crowd on Wikipedia is a small one. However, I must point out that Wikipedia is a collaborative project, and that we should be working together to make these curling articles as good as possible. There shouldn't be the attitude of I want to pursue this, and I want to work together with you and with the rest of the curling community on Wikipedia. But to come here and to be called "disruptive" and "anal retentive" and "obsessive," to be treated with such disdain, and to be told that I should "not bother editing" and leave is extremely troubling. I hope you reconsider your position. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 20:21, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Discussion

I will move into discussion on the talk page but this is it. I will have you know following the completion of the 2012 Scotties, I will cease with contributions indefinitely. I used to take joy in contributing to the wiki curling project, however you, in particular, over the past several months, have taken away all the pleasure that came with contributing to these pages. Now that user Intoronto1125 has joined in on the personal attacks, I no longer wish to endure the stress that comes from the two of you. Thank you for taking away what I've enjoyed doing over the past 4 years. Sirrussellott (talk) 02:53, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello. To be honest with you, I'm saddened at your response. I really feel that you are a valued contributor to WP:CURLING, and to see your decision to stop editing is distressing. I know we've had our differences in the past, but that does not mean that I don't appreciate your contributions. Differences, though they may be profound, are meant to be resolved by achieving consensus. I'm sorry that you see my actions as personal attacks, because I do not mean them that way. I feel that my actions are made in the best interests of the Wikiproject and of curling on Wikipedia, and I've provided my reasons for them. I believe that the curling articles should follow certain guidelines, so as to improve consistency and uniformity, and I believe that the best methods of inputting information should be considered when editing. However, I will say that I have never, never intended my actions to be an attack upon you, and I will do my best to never make an attack upon you, nor will I encourage this. All I ask is that we discuss our different perspectives civilly, come to consensus, and work together to make coverage of curling on Wikipedia as good as it can be. I understand that I can be brusque at times, but I would very much like to work with you in improving WP:CURLING. I truly hope that you will reconsider your decision to leave, and find your pleasure in contributing unshaken by these small differences. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 04:48, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Manitoba Scotties Qualificaiton

Thanks for fixing that one, I was stumped with that one. I combined the Sport Region berths and the sport regions based upon participation ratio to clean up and make it look less bulky. They didn't have to be combined, it was just by choice I did it that way originally. Sirrussellott (talk) 06:47, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

No problem! I'm still not sure that that's the best way to display it, so I'm working on the table and I'll see if anything else will work. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 06:53, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah I'm not so keen about it for Manitoba. It's been working nicely for the other provinces, but not so much for Manitoba. I wanted to do something different then last year. I think the table Krazytea created for last years Manitoba Scotties, and what he uses for the team information on the Safeway Championship is too busy. I was going for something a bit simpler. Sirrussellott (talk) 07:00, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Hmm... how does this look? I thought that spreading everything out would make it look a little less busy. Let me know what you think! Prayerfortheworld (talk) 07:09, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
That's a bit better. I changed 'Qualifier' to 'Qualifying Team' as it makes it sound less like the skip won it all themselves. Sirrussellott (talk) 18:30, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Looks good to me. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 18:34, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

San Francisco meetup at WMF headquarters

Hi Prayerfortheworld,

I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the next wiki-meetup happening in SF. It'll be located at our very own Wikimedia Foundation offices, and we'd love it if some local editors who are new to the meetup scene came and got some free lunch with us :) Please sign up on the meetup page if you're interested in attending, and I hope to see you soon! Curling at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics – Mixed team

I was thinking maybe it would be better to organize the draws side by side, like how they are on the nation pages. Would that be a good idea? Intoronto1125TalkContributions 02:48, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Hmmm... I'm not sure it's necessary. It seems fine as is. Did you have a specific reason to group them into columns? Prayerfortheworld (talk) 03:06, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
The only reason being it would be much faster and easier to navigate. Intoronto1125TalkContributions 03:23, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
I think it should be okay. It may actually end up looking a bit cramped, with all the games that are on the page. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 04:07, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
Okay it really isn't that big of an issue to warrant change. Thanks! Intoronto1125TalkContributions 04:15, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Thankfully you knew what happened during the first draw, as I had no idea what was going on (I decided to leave the editing alone until further word came out). Intoronto1125TalkContributions 04:28, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I was a little confused too at first, but found the explanation after a bit of digging. Prayerfortheworld (talk) 04:29, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Merger

Be bold, and go ahead. Going through the process is for controversial mergers, or if you're too lazy to merge right away. I don't see why there would be any issue with merging the pages, since there is only one article for the Canadian version. -- Earl Andrew - talk 23:19, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
