WikiCup 2015 March newsletter[edit]

One of Adam Cuerden’s several quality restorations during round 1

That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. Forty-seven competitors move into this round (a bit shy of the expected 64), and we are roughly broken into eight groups of six. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups.

Twenty-two Good Articles were submitted, including three by Connecticut Cyclonebiskit (submissions), and two each by Denmark MPJ-DK (submissions), Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions), Florida 12george1 (submissions), and New South Wales Cas Liber (submissions). Twenty-one Featured Pictures were claimed, including 17 by There's always time for skeletons Adam Cuerden (submissions) (the Round 1 high scorer). Thirty-one contestants saw their DYKs appear on the main page, with a commanding lead (28) by Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions). Twenty-nine participants conducted GA reviews with Lancashire J Milburn (submissions) completing nine.

If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Thanks to everyone for participating, and good luck to those moving into round 2. Kindly Review the Changes I made in the page Budli.in after your tag for deletion[edit]

Dear Sir,

Thanks for reviewing the page Budli.in. I took utmost care that the article does not look promotional and neither I had any intention to give the page an advertorial look. However, I understand that such pages may unintentionally look advert. I have given sufficient information on the references and none of the facts are created by myself but copied from the articles which I cited. I have infact removed several words at initial content itself just to keep the information fair and unbiased.

Now, that you have reviews and tagged it for deletion- I have made further changes and deleted few sentences as well. I hope, it will now qualify the wikipedia guidelines. The company is quite popular and have good reputation and therefore, I do not think it should be deleted. Therefore, I humbly request to kindly see the recent changes I made after your tag, and please guide me what aspects of the content need further attention.

Speedy Delete template VY1[edit]

As the author of that page, would you mind expanding on HOW it is worthy of a speedy delete? I have made such pages in regards to other related Vocal synthesizers such as Chipspeech and Vocaloid and Vocaloid has supportive editors. if there is a problem, I would like to know as I did not create that page or any other for advertisement sakes. Thee is a Vocaloid wikia devoted to THAT. Angel Emfrbl (talk) 14:55, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, while the references are not in the correct format, most likely, they are present and cover everything the page needs. If there is a simple matter of these reference problems, then rewriting would be a better solution then speedy delete, which means I would have to recreate the page and nothing would change. Now if someone at Yamaha was to create it, rather then a Vocaloid fan, then you may indeed have a reason to contest it is pure advertisement... But the article even has information from the a Japanese media outlet on top of all things and covers links which have been approved on other pages. WikiCup 2016 March newsletter (update)[edit]

Along with getting the year wrong in the newsletter that went out earlier this week, we did not mention (as the bot did not report) that New South Wales Cas Liber (submissions) claimed the first Featured Article Persoonia terminalis of the 2016 Wikicup. I don't have any photograph of Zahidur Rahman Anjan. Do you have any ? ~Altaf~ (talk) 18:22, 2 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have searched commons.wikimedia.org and couldn't find any photograph of Zahidur Rahman Anjan. Someone has to upload one to commons because only commons photographs can be used here. Regards,--Prof TPMS (talk) 01:55, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Raleigh Bomber article[edit]

Hi, I recently wrote a brief summary of the Raleigh Bomber bicycle for Wikipedia and its been removed, but with no explanation? Now when searched, it redirects to the Raleigh Bicycle Company and my article is not there to read. I'm new to amending/writing on Wikipedia and am not sure why! NellyEdwards (talk) 10:54, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your article on Raleigh Bomber bicycle was merged and redirected to Raleigh Bicycle Company because there was no merit for a special article. Regards, --Prof TPMS (talk) 12:10, 3 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

About Ramkumar Chattopadhyay[edit]

Hi, I understand that you have deleted a page on Ramkumar Chattopadhyay. He was the last known artist of Tappa style singer of Indian music. It is to be noted that the Wiki page has mentioned his name in Tappa page. My short article on him was an effort to catch a slice of lost history of Indian music. Also, I have never saved my writing (was writing directly on wiki) and lost my hours of effort. Cbbasak (talk) 16:05, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

betafence[edit]

Hi Prof tpms. That Betafence article was not a promotion. The exact same article already exists in other languages. For the most part it was a translation, with a link to the news article that led me to try to look it up on Wikipedia, but it didnt exist in English. The company they bought produces a very iconic and well known piece of equipment used in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Also I just signed up, so I am somewhat lost with how to use the editor when making or editing articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nordasaur` (talkcontribs) 16:25, 11 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kottooli and Pottammal, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Govindapuram. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Mongolia[edit]

I would rather keep it 'Minister'. So far, I have created many articles about ministers of foreign affairs, and almost all of them started as 'Minister'. I think it leaves more room for (eventual) expansion of the article, without branding is as (just) a list. Cheers! --Sundostund (talk) 00:39, 19 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
