Well because you're being so nice helping me out with some minor German points I found out about the fluid measurements of the starbucks cups. I'm not in Germany so I don't know exactly what they put on their menu but here your can find a measure table listing the name of the cup and its size in mililiters. My RfA: Deletionist, moi?

Hi David,

I just thought you might want to take another look at my RfA; in my answers to JoshuaK's questions I've attempted to respond to John Reid's complaint that I am somehow an AfD deletionist. (I note that his own AfD record is 100 percent delete, although he has voted only three times.) I found his charges a little surprising because I have been one of the main voices in favour of keeping some articles recently (such as California-Nevada Interstate Maglev, List of countries by length of coastline, Hal Robinson, and Jason M. Dahl), and am not someone to urge deleting an article that might have something good about it. Of course I've voted to get rid of quite a few non-notable advertising and vanity pages, but that's Wikipedia policy.

No, no, quite the opposite, I took it as a compliment that you did that! I hope you didn't take my follow-up comment to mean anything else; I simply meant that I was advocating a position on the AfD page, and might have phrased things a little differently if I'd written a similar paragraph in the article. OTOH, your quick thinking added a paragraph (mine) to the article, significantly lengthening it, and spurring others to add more info, thus negating the charges that it was too short and lacked information. (Also, I don't know who added the fact tag to it, but I wanted to point out it wasn't really necessary; if there's only one short line in existence, we don't have to source the fact that a line whose length is well known would be the first long line. QED.) I'm surprised this article is proving so controversial; perhaps some Wikipedians are also SoCal road warriors... Regards, ProhibitOnions 23:28, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

I like your style

I am also vehemently opposed to the onionisation of foodstuffs. They do not "add flavour" they just make everything taste like onion. I oppose your stance on vegetarianism however. That is all. - FrancisTyers 13:13, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, you said it. Amother excuse is that onions "melt away" during cooking; I find they become even more prominent. While I have never liked meat all that much (which is the main reason I have been a vegetarian for many years) I have always hated onions. (I'm not sure I really want to prohibit them, though...) Little Green Footballs

Please see my comments on the talk page for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Green_FootballsYou can't have an article that clearly states the racism of the site, with ample references, and then have a lead paragraph give an uncharistically positive description with no references.YOU feel the site discusses but does not advocate racism (which isn't the case).You're changing the first paragraph to suit your view, and trying to defend it as "neutral".If you're going to claim that LGF is just another conservative blog, reference what you say.Point to some positive examples.As it stands you have an entire article pointing out the pure hatred the site spreads, with a lead paragraph that makes everything look rosy.

I've read the site; it's sarcastic, all right, but it makes it clear it is not racist, although some of the unmoderated comments can be, as with many sites that do not censor their message boards. Furthermore, there is nothing intrinsically "racist" about opposition to the doctrines of Islam or any other philosophy or religion. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place for polemics. Hi there, Yes, I got your email. I was working on Laptop a few minutes ago, but I promise not to do so for the rest of the day. (Maybe...) I was adding articles for Sharp PC-5000 and Epson HX-20, which I'd meant to write for some time. Hmmm... ok :) I have a doubt about the Laptop article, BTW. Someone added in the definition that a laptop may be a personal computer or a Mac (the person who did this used a bad wikilinking, but that's not the issue). Strictly speaking, a Mac is a "personal computer." The term was in use before the IBM PC was introduced. However, "PC" is often taken to mean the IBM's heirs, only because of their ubiquity. ProhibitOnions 12:02, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Yep, I know about Kate's Tool, being an administrator and all, but as you point out, it isn't working ("en.wikipedia.org data is no longer updated"). According to Interiot's Javascript tool, I had exceeded 5000, however I wasn't sure whether that included all deleted edits or not, hence the disclaimer. Hope this clears things up. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I don't think you're being a dick. However, I think the reasoning why the user was not blocked immediately is that the first edit was a change, rather than a revert, and so doesn't count.

Another possibility: In my experience, there are a number of topics in which groups of users sharing one fixed viewpoint will take turns reverting bona fide changes to an article, then immediately try to have that user blocked when he or she takes the bait and restores the reverted edits three times. It's bad faith, but sometimes hard to prove, and I suppose admins would rather be cautious in such situations, as it's not always clear who the naughtiest user is. (And during the time it takes to figure this out, the revert war may have gone another round or two, as it did in this case.) Here goes:  ProhibitOnions  ^(T) 11:54, 10 May 2006 (UTC)...wow!

This is a genuine case where it's very difficult to decide: is it vandalism or not? The user removed a whole piece of the article, but all the removed lines concerned "pornographic" (just kidding ;)) things. Also, our definition says an emoticon represents a human facial expression and conveys an emotion. Thanks for your comments, but there's nothing wrong with "main line" as two words - in fact it's normal British English usage. I speak from 40 years' experience, and, for instance, Alan A. Jackson's Railway Dictionary includes "main line" but not "mainline". As one word it's more commonly used in the context of drugs rather than railways. Haupt doesn't mean Central, and in British usage Central often (even usually) doesn't mean Main - for example, Liverpool, Manchester, Leicester, Rugby, Loughborough Centrals are/were not the main station in any of those places. The latter three were called that because they were on the Great Central railway - nothing to do with the stations' location or importance. In this context "Central" is, to my mind, inappropriate. Thanks for writing. I simply wanted to point out that, although many cities have main stations, very few have a Main Station, and Central Station is a more common title (and yes, the Grand Central might have popularized it), no matter that main might be more literal; this was already discussed at some length on the talk page. AFAIK, Deutsche Bahn has not come up with an official English name, so Berlin Hauptbahnhof it stays; and it is indeed a very central(ly located) station, but as Berlin is very decentralized city, this is a mixed blessing. So far, the station seems very busy, but almost entirely due to passengers having to change trains; unlike many such stations it seems to be a final destination for very few people.

I realize also that mainline can be written "main line" and some sources prefer this. However, the drugs use of the term (along with "highball" and "lowball" and probably many other examples of dissoluteness) come from railway terminology, and not the other way round. Wikipedia seems to strongly prefer "mainline", but if you spend more time on the talk pages, you might be able to convince people of the merits of "main line" instead. Doc, it seemed Tony protected the wrong version (ie, the redirect added during a revert war) rather than the original version, consistent with all other respectable expressions of belief in Wikipedia. I simply corrected the matter. As for "content editing," where exactly is the problem? You obviously don't understand how protection work. In an edit war (and I'm not sure there was one) the protecting admin protects at the current version (at the point of protection - not the one a party requests). No doubt one side will consider that version to be the 'wrong version' - but that's tough. The article remains frozen until disputes are resolved. Admins do not misuse their powers to revert to theri prefered version, no matter how strongly they feel about the issue. You have misused your admin powers - and my worry is that you don't sem to understand that you have done so. The problem is that a redirect is just an edit like any other, and when protecting you shouldn't modify anything. If I were still an admin I may have reverted you right now :) - but don't get too beat up about it - the people above are being awfully harsh as well and may have conflicting interests. As far as a "preferred version" goes, there had long been a consensus version, which was repeatedly being changed (and arguably vandalized), and was the edit before the one Tony froze.
