WP:COI concerns

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, attribution, and autobiography.

For more details, please read the Conflict of Interest guideline. Thank you. RJASE1 Talk 13:29, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello, User:Prunk! I understand that Janko Prunk is the article about your father. There are a couple of things you might perhaps help with, if you know the information:

  1. I understand that J.P. has written some books in English. Is is possible you have their details?
  2. We are interested in any third-party commentary about him, especially if it's written in English and it appeared in a reliable source. Do you know of any? (I believe that French or German language publications about him would also be of interest, since some en.wiki readers speak those languages). Even book reviews in major languages would be of interest.
  3. Because of all the COI rules, it would be best if you could put the info on the article's Talk page and then another editor will move it to the article.

Thanks, EdJohnston 13:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello User:EdJohnston !

1. There were over 10 books listed on en.wikipedia, which my father wrote, but just recently User:Athaenara deleted all of them. Maybe he will fix the article or I might ask some third party to do that in a proper format.

2. Since my father is mostly presented in Slovenian media, I don't have any internet resources from abroad about him, you might get some information using the www.google.com searching machine.

3. I will do that in the future, to avoid further deletion of the article entries.

Kind regards, Prunk 14:54, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello Jan! After our conversation I posted this followup at the conflict of interest noticeboard. EdJohnston 20:42, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

To User:Prunk: It would be helpful if you would participate in the discussion of the Janko Prunk article on the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. Thank you. — Athænara 21:23, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Založba Grad

A tag has been placed on Založba Grad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Malcolmxl5 01:15, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Free Shell provider with network programs ?

Can you give a example of another free provider which allows nmap ? --84.195.241.5 (talk) 15:46, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I am not in position to discuss this sort of things with you to promote shell providers, as you would have to subscribe to many different shell providers by yourself (why don't you try them out and see results). I can just say that there are some which allow that sort of programs, you have a good comparison table made on Jan's list for example. Prunk (talk) 07:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
