Hi, I was glad to notice you reverting vandalism, don't know if you saw that the same IP had made two vandalistic edits, which my edit after yours removed.[1] It's always worth having a look at the edit history as well as the last change, just in case. Anyway, your assistance is much appreciated. Regrettably, it was disappointing to see you being a bit sharp with Aunt Entropy. It's quite usual to comment on talk pages, which are for public discussion, not private remarks. I'm sure you'll find the advice in WP:EQ worthwhile in making friends and gaining influence, always subject to policies of course. - Thanks for the link. I must admit I tend to let my emotions get the best of me (especially anger!) and I let my mouth wander without a leash. I am trying to do more to contribute to WP instead of just commenting on things. If you don't mind, could you give me a hand and helpful hints on an article I am trying to improve. (Armscor M1700) I'm kind of a gun nut and I figure I could help out there, but I didn't really have a lot of time to devote to this particular article and I just think I could have done better. - Looking at Armscor M1700, the first thing is that it lacks verification from cited sources: the article should be based on published sources, and I find the best way to make improvements is to find reliable sources which can be rephrased or summarised for the article so that it's not "original research". If you've got a book about guns which mentions this rifle, that would be ideal. Also, try a google search for suitable articles, though remember that we generally can't use blogs or self-published sources. The bad news is that the picture you've been trying to add seems to be hosted on another site: we have to use pictures under a "free license", hosted on Wikipedia or Commons – if you look at the links on the left under "toolbox" and click on "upload file" that'll give you instructions. If you can take your own photo that will be great, or you could try to find one under a suitable license, even asking someone if they'll license the photo so you can use it. Got very little knowledge of guns myself, but thanks to our son's interest there's a deactivated 1917 Lee-Enfield SMLE in the house – tried to photograph it but wasn't very successful. - That's a shame your Lee-Enfield is deactivated. Those are excellent rifles and the one you have is quite a piece of history. Thanks for the hints on the article, I got most of the information from a gun catalogue and a little bit more from a book I found online. I just need to figure out how to put the sources on the article page. I'll also see what I can do about the photograph. - It's a short article, so a ==References== section with the sources in a bulleted list (start each line with * ) should suffice. For a longer article, inline links are good: Wikipedia:Citing sources gives a whole lot of advice, including how to desribe sources, giving the option of using templates. If you've got the url or book ISBN number, there are tools that fill in the source templates for you: the Diberri Wikipedia template filler works well for me. thanks. however, user hauskalainen has leveled charges previously that i am colluding with other editors, and that i may be an agent of the "gun lobby". both charges are false and no evidence was proferred besides further conspiracy theories but as a matter of remaining overtly and entirely above-board, i must decline any offer of assistance from my fellow editors. if you wish to weigh in on the matter, you're certainly welcome to, and i obviously won't discourage it. hope you understand. Hi. If you want to create a personal sandbox, you just need to start a page in your user space: for example, User:Prussian725/Sandbox or User:Prussian725/Ferret 50. When the article is ready, you can then move it to the main article space. Then if you want the sandbox redirect/page to be deleted you can add {{db-user}} to it.
