Information icon Hello, Psicosociales. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Shopping addiction, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 14:23, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thanks for your message/s on my talk page. The reason it appears that you might have a conflict of interest is that your username is the same as the name of a website you used for references in the article you created. Is this your website? If it is, you should not add links to it in the encyclopaedia. Can you please clarify your connection to the website? Melcous (talk) 23:07, 20 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Eve, thanks for your messages, and no need to apologise about your English, it is perfectly understandable! Thanks for clarifying your relationship with the association. I have removed the conflict of interest tag from the article. It still needs some work, because it reads more like an essay than an encyclopaedia, and I have added a tag to indicate that it might not represent a global view of the topic. I am not familiar with the area of research at all, so it probably needs someone who has some expertise to look over it, and as you said hopefully others will contribute and continue to improve it. Cheers, Melcous (talk) 11:39, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Eve, I have had a go at copyediting the article, improving the English as well as adding "citation needed" tags for lots of claims which are not sourced at all. There are also many others that are not properly sourced. Hopefully you can work on finding a wider range of references for many of these. Thanks, Melcous (talk) 12:07, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. nyuszika7h (talk) 12:48, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Shopping addiction[edit]

I just came across this article and I was wondering what to do with it. I am glad to discover that you are working on it and thanks very much for doing so. It is a big article. I understand from your responses at Melcous's talk page this has been created from Wikipedias in other languages. I think this is a really good idea.--- Steve Quinn (talk) 05:00, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Steve, do you know much about the topic? I've been trying to help Psicosociales out with the article but mainly around grammar and formatting, as it's not an area I am very familiar with, so if you are able to help too, that would be great! Melcous (talk) 08:02, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Steve thank you very much for you message. I know this is a very significant subject in our current society but it is also a very controversial one. Because of this I have tried to include all the scientific aspects and perspectives. Moreover the knowledge of shopping addiction progress fast, so it is necessary the updating of the contents of the page. That’s why the article is substantially a translation of another Wikipedia page which has done all this complete scientific work. Now – following the advices of Melcous- I am improving the article with more references and bibliography in English, since that they will be more useful for English readers.Psicosociales (talk) 11:13, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
