License tagging for Image:WF-RMS Dance Marathon 2007-084.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WF-RMS Dance Marathon 2007-084.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:10, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School Dance Marathon[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School Dance Marathon, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. 172.129.86.209 12:51, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion is ongoing about the marathon article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School Dance Marathon. It looks like consensus is that the marathon should not have an article of its own. That said, I think a condensed write-up of the marathon has a place in an article about Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School—and in fact, the marathon would be something that could be used to assert the notability of the middle school! —C.Fred (talk) 00:48, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I admire your perseverance with this article, and am trying to help you save it. But please understand that the material I removed from the way the article was originally written was to make it more encyclopedic. Wikipedia is not and should not be a newsletter for events, interesting though they may be. As a story about the dance marathon, it was interesting but not encyclopedic. The only way to save this article is to focus away from the dance marathon, which the article has plenty on now, and delve into what else makes the school notable. I want to give you ample notice of this before I revert your new changes, which have returned it to unencyclopedic. If you continue in that direction, the article will be deleted and there will be nothing I can do to save it. Please thoroughly read Wikipedia:Notability and understand, as it is the article will not survive. If you have access to the school itself, add in information about academic and athletic successes, school history, perhaps what high schools the school feeds into. I saw you were new to Wikipedia, I got this welcome when I first started and it was helped me tremendously GWatson • TALK 17:08, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I started to just give this message the title of the article, but I figured since every note you've had about it on your Talk page so far was about something wrong with it, you might find it fun to see a "new changes" message with a positive title for a change. I rearranged some of the material in the article, reformatted the references so they display with clear titles, and worked them into the text so it's more obvious that there are sources for the statements in the text. If you're not familiar with how to format and label the references, you might choose "edit this page" so that you can see the way it's set up; it took me a while at first. There are some other ways to do them, but they're a little too complicated for me (and I've got a doctorate, so I've lots of experience with complicated footnotes!).

In non-Wikipedia-related news: Congratulations on the success of the fundraising projects. I've sent one of the articles to a principal at a middle school here in Texas that might enjoy doing the same thing, so now maybe it will spread. :) Lawikitejana 00:06, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
