RE:Please use the edit summary

I appologise. I'm used to making a lot of minor edits on various things that sometimes I forget to leave a summery when it's a larger edit. Basically, for this particular edit, there was simply a tag in which it stated that there was too much trivia in the article, thus I simply removed a large amount of it so that the article was not cluttered up with Trivia. In addtion, there was a tag on another part of the article with regards to a topic of roles that might or might not be leading but were nominated as such. The tag stated that it may contain original research or unverified claims, plus the topic itself was merely a matter of opinion and not an unbias statement, therefore I saw fit to delete it. I hope this clears things up for you, and I shall certainly try harder in the future to not make this same mistake again. Would love help if interested

Hi Purple Rain -

You helped once before so I am hoping you can again. A few months back I discovered someone deleted the name of our company from an article on gay marketing. They left no reason for it and I could not figure out why. Both you and SatyrTN thought that one of the reasons could be vandalism. It certainly seemed so to me since there was no explanation and it was impossible to track down the individual who deleted the entry.

I finally got around to adding it back in the other day and within trhee hours it was again deleted. This time the user who deleted it was JeffStryker. When I clicked on his name to discuss this on his talk page it seems he is not registered with Wikipedia. Seems fishy.

I tried to investigate some more and in the process discovered that the same thing was happening to a competitor company of ours. Someone was deleting their name too. They posted several comments explaining why they should be included. They also were asking for an explanation as to why they were deleted. They did not get a response. It was also impossible to figure out who was deleting their company.

I am sorry to bother you but if you're interested in helping me figure this out I'd love it. If not, no worries.

If you do want to help, check out this page http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gay_marketing&action=history. From there look at the 5 edits made from Jan 25 - Feb 20. These edits give you a recent history of my company being deleted (Target 10) and the other company being deleted (Karpel Group).

Reverts to Gay Marketing

Thanks Purple Rain. That helps a lot. I'll follow up with Jeff Stryker. I agree that in general people or companies are not thebest sources for information on themselves (better if an impartial thrid-party contributes) but this is such a specialized niche I could perhaps make the case for an exception.

Sorry. One more question. When I click on your talk page I see a link that says "click here to leave a message." This works great and we've been able to communicate. When I click on the Talk;GayMarketing page, however, I cannot figure out how to leave a message. There is no "click here." Similarly, when I click on the talk;JeffStryker page I get a welcome message as if I were JeffStryker. I also cannot figure out how to leave a note.

Unusual Adoption Request

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.
