Your edits to George Best[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your edits to Wikipedia. With regard to your recent edits to George Best, please note that your additions do not enhance the content of the article, are not relevant to George Best's biography, and your tone is not that of a neutral point of view. I will revert your changes once more, but if you feel that your bold paragraph about the loss of human rights during a funeral is relevant and commensurate to the tone of the article, I urge you to get in touch with me and we can discuss the matter further. Well I think it is, after all his funeral took place in Belfast and most people wanting to take that route into town could not because of his funeral. I would have no problem if it is a member of state of a member of the army forces but it was a person that did NOTHING for Northern Ireland and it does infringe on human rights. It does relevant to George Best's biography — Preceding unsigned comment added by Puttingthingsright (talkcontribs)

Okay, I can see where you're coming from. What we need to do is add the information you're talking about, but in a manner that maintains a neutral point of view (WP:NPOV). The problem comes from you stating that Best did "...NOTHING for Northern Ireland..." which could be disputed by others. What we could try to do is add a statement to the effect that the funeral caused serious congestion in the centre of Belfast and that it inconvenienced a number of people. It would be even better if you could cite some evidence (for example, a news report on the web describing the problems getting in and out of Belfast). That way, your addition would remain factual, cited, neutral in tone, and very acceptable to the policies of Wikipedia. What do you think? Budgiekiller 19:53, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well all the Northern Ireland matches that his was to play in he desided that the pub was better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Puttingthingsright (talkcontribs)

I appreciate your point of view, but you have to bear in mind the policies of Wikipedia, including WP:NPOV which means that you have to cite reasonable evidence to support your opinions. Budgiekiller 20:10, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have desided to leaved it because I am not going to win so I wrote something else.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Puttingthingsright (talkcontribs)

Okay, well please understand that nobody has any personal agenda here against you. The other user that reverted your edits is upholding the same standards that I'm talking about (i.e. WP:NPOV), in order to keep in-line with the Wikipedia policies. The edits you have made now are of a much higher standard, with a good, neutral point-of-view tone. The edit may end up being merged with the details in the main body the section you're editing (if you check out the first line of the paragraph, you'll see some repetition), but please don't be put of by this and continue to add constructively to Wikipedia. Again, if you'd like to discuss this or any other issues, please get in touch, either on my talk page or using the {{helpme}} template. Cheers! Budgiekiller 20:21, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
