Autopatrolled

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 11:17, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Kevin

I think the time has come to call a halt to Kevin's activities. I know you've been particularly bothered by him lately, so I thought I'd ask your opinion before proceeding. I didn't realise he'd been edit-warring over his WTCC tables until CS-Wolves just told me, and we can add that to any report we make. Do you think ANI is the best place, or SPI, where we took it last time? His edit-warring with his named account and his IP will hang him at SPI, especially since he's done it all before. Thoughts? Bretonbanquet (talk) 18:18, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

It was getting worse, so I took the liberty of starting the SPI here. Have your say! At least we'll get the full attention of an admin, and he/she can do as he/she sees fit. Bretonbanquet (talk) 00:23, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Kevin again

I was dreading this and I just knew Dasilva 123 was our man, back again. Thanks for doing the deed and the heads up. Hopefully someone will permanently deal with this now. Bretonbanquet (talk) 17:26, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

He opened a new account the day after his IP was unblocked. He hasn't done much with it, but I took it to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Felipemassa123 again. Bretonbanquet (talk) 21:36, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Tony Southgate

Hi Pyrope, Tony Southgate is mentioned in many WP articles but there is no article on him (except in German WP). I stumbled your sandbox article on him. It is fairly well developed but looks not to be moving forward. Can I help finish it enough to get the article up and live?
Guffydrawers (talk) 09:30, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your encouragement. I have fleshed out the article on Tony Southgate a little and moved it into mainspace. It's very thin in many areas, but being live may encourage other editors to assist. I will also add to it, especially after I've read his autobiography. Am now regretting having cleared out decades' worth of Autosport, Motoring News and Motor Sport!

Fred Gamble

Hi Pyrope. I see you've been keeping an eye on Fred Gamble. The whole "Racing" section needs some attention - it's all unsourced, with no links, unnecessary capitals, etc - it's been on my "to do" list for a while, but I haven't been quite sure what to "do" with it - it's probably all true, but there's also a possibility it's a copyvio (although I have no evidence of that) - any suggestions? DH85868993 (talk) 10:12, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree for the most part, it is slightly troubling. As you say, from what I can gather from other sources most of the claims made in the text are - while presented in a hokey and colloquial style - largely true, but unverifiable. I spent a sizable chunk of yesterday cross referencing the text with what I can find elsewhere and I can't find any direct copy-paste or transcription copyvio. The style of the text also militates against it being such, as the constant use of full caps for commercial names, the haphazard and informal use of numerals, the colloquialisms, and the informality seem to suggest that it isn't taken from a professionally published source. Whether it is lifted from an unpublished memoir (the tone does sound a bit like Gamble's voiceover from the, admittedly rather superb, YouTube video that User:CaptainVegas keeps trying to add) or some other source, or whether CaptainVegas just knows his subject inside out is unclear. I've asked them to clarify the copyright status of the YouTube video, so hopefully that will give us some clues as to the origin of this material. For all I know this may well be a relative of Gamble's (or Gamble himself?). As for the text of the section, yes, it needs a good wash and brush up. Large chunks are actually about Camoradi and not Gamble directly, so those should probably be moved to the Casner Motor Racing Division page, but what's left would make an interesting and entertaining article given a little attention. I am tempted to hold off until CaptainVegas can give us a little more light. Pyrope 14:47, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi. You are right I am Fred Gamble's son. I showed him the existing page on him and he has written all the new content, provided the pictures and had some of his old films digitized. I have been posting this content for him. Any guidance you can give us would be helpful. CaptainVegas (talk) 19:54, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Np's. I keep learning what's good to put in and what's not so its cool and thanks HoldenV8 (talk) 08:12, 3 February 2012 (UTC)
