Carol (film)

The reason I combined the box office and critical reception sections into one section on Carol (film) is because that's how the majority of film articles are structured. I apologize for not noticing that it had GA status, but there's no need to be rude and accuse me of thinking I owned the article. About the revert on LGBT symbols

Blue may be more commonly used, but it is also incorrect. The color on the pansexual flag is clearly cyan, not blue. IlSoupylI (talk) 21:48, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

@IlSoupylI: You joined Wikipedia on 8 December 2019. So you should know by now about WP:10SIMPLERULES; and you're familiar with policies WP:NOR, WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:NPOV, too. So then you also know about WP:NOTTRUTH:

..."content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of its editors...", and ...material added to Wikipedia must have been published previously by a reliable source. Unless you have verified it beforehand with a reliable source, you may not add content just because you believe it is true, nor may you delete content that you may believe to be untrue.

Therefore, if you find a reliable source that says the color is "cyan" ... create a discussion in the Talk page for overriding the 3 sources that say it is "blue". It's not your Wikipedia and it's not my Wikipedia, and we all need to follow the policies for editing Wikipedia articles. It's as simple as that. Pyxis Solitary (yak). Sian Heder's "See also" section

I notice you added the "See also" section and its current contents to Sian Heder's article. Shouldn't that just contain the link for directors, of which she is one? The one for films could then go in the article for the specific film, since I think all of her features have articles. TGGP (talk) 02:11, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

She directed Tallulah. Tallulah is classified as an LGBT-related movie. Heder is just one of the many female directors who has directed a similar movie and whose bio contains this information -- that is intended for the benefit of Wikipedia readers. It's all stemming from hives on Tumblr and Twitter. Some people think that just because they favor something and find a niche that shares their POV, it instantly becomes fact. I will try. It took me a while to get the hang of creating and editing lists, and I performed the trial-and-error in my Sandbox. I created most of my early lists offline and then added them to my Sandbox, and fixed what came out wrong. I kept a template of table templates until I was able to create them without using the sandbox first. Can you link the diff that caused you a problem for your editing? Pyxis Solitary (yak). I simplified the table markup. All you have to do from now on is adjust the width of a column if it becomes necessary. The reason the layout of the 1970–present section is not 100% identical to the others is because the citation numbers are in triple digits and when a row contains three triple-digit citations they will widen the references column, which then slightly pushes the fifth and fourth columns. The way to control this is to use "| rowspan=1 |", "| rowspan=2 |", etc. -- but then all the "! width="x" markups will need to be changed to "! scope="col". Pyxis Solitary (yak). I didn't mind helping with the list. And I didn't mind adding a new row. But I have other lists that I monitor and have an interest in. It's fairly simple to do .... just copy what I did for the David Wanklyn entry, substitute the content in each cell with info about another individual, then paste the new row to the list. What is this called?

In responding to your comment on a talkpage I noticed another editor retorted you, and in doing so referred to their own private "sex tape".[1] Not sure what that act falls under on wikipedia, but I know what it would be called in a workplace if one said such a thing to a female member of staff. It's understandable that if you see a film that hints a character is or may be lesbian, you would tag the film's article with a relevant category for it. But Wikipedia reports information, and all the information must be based on reliable sources. When sources are needed, text can be tagged with a {{citation needed}} template; however, this does not work with categories. WP:CATV states: "Categorization of articles must be verifiable. It should be clear from verifiable information in the article why it was placed in each of its categories." Which is why I make a point to add the lesbian element of a character in the plot description -- but it has to be an unmistakable characterization or scene, not a personal interpretation.

I had come here to make a similar comment after trying to get through that extended AE thread, just thought I would additionally mention that there is a potentially-useful series of templates for this listed at Template:Their. I honestly did not think the situation in England had ALREADY reached the extreme point described in this report; I wad l have been worried that things were going toward that direction, but I didn't think it was there YE...if that is the new norm in English schools, I think it can be safely stated that at present, nearly ALL GAY AND LESBIAN KIDS are being shoehorned, collectovely mass brainwashed, and socially coerced into identifying instead as a straigh tv person of the gender opposite their biological sex.

The good (yet not so good) news: I really do think that the vast majority of society at large would still see this for what it its: mass crimes against the humanity of homosexual peoples at the largest scale, pushed by a radical fringe minority mostly in secret. The bad news is, most people have no idea this even happening..

What are your thoughts and/or ideas on this matter? Any feasible onwiki options to spread awareness of this? I don't eve think must arguing next need take over the issues; the fasts contained in that report, ai think, speak for themselves any better than we could.

Finding and adding sources to articles I edit is second-nature for me. When I add content to an article, I add at least one source that supports the content. I also add {{citation needed}} templates when I come across content that lacks verification with reliable sourcing. I've never understood why many editors have the time to insert text into an article, but not the time to include reliable sources for their edits. Good editors are diligent. Pyxis Solitary (yak). @Runningman2027: Haven't you noticed that I've been adding RS? All you have to do is look at the article's history to see that I'm doing it. Sometimes a few, sometimes a lot. But I continue chipping away at the {{Citation needed}} templates. And I also review many sources to make sure they verify the characters, and to ensure that they adhere to Wikipedia policies and guidelines. As long as we continue to add RS, editors who tried to have the list deleted can't bitch about citations needed.

@Runningman2027: Oh, heck, R: you don't need to apologize for it. I wrote the kind of summary I did to let others know what doesn't belong in the descriptions. I'm also tired and probably should quit while I'm ahead, but I want to get through as many citations needed as I can while I have the energy. In view of some people attempting to have the list deleted, it's important to check that sources are not only acceptable but also do confirm sexual identities in the films listed. I'll check for the Cox and Reign sources.
Update: I did a search of sources for Cox and Reign. I think Walk Hard is a lost cause and will need to be removed from the list. Pridesource.com (i.e."Between the Lines") mentioned Reign Over Me but nothing about bisexuality in it (and if any source is going to point out a sexuality in a film, particularly when it's an Adam Sandler movie, it would be an LGBT source), so I think Reign will also need to be removed. The List of feature films with LGBT characters deletion discussion will continue another week

I did try and appeal to get an editor to close it, but they turned around and said that it is important enough to continue for another week. So, it may be necessary, if circumstances warrant it, to use WP:DRVPURPOSE (i.e. deletion review), or do something else, to make sure the content isn't lost. I've already created a page, in my sandbox, which would be tentatively titled "List of feature films with lesbian characters". I know now to not trust admins to "do the right thing" as they can be just as biased as everyone else. Its frustrating. In any case, if I have time, I'm going to try and create pages in my sandboxes for specific identities in the unfortunate event of page deletion. Oh also CAT:RESTORE may be helpful in the case the page is deleted, as a copy of the text can be requested. I already asked one of those admins about it, in the event that it is deleted. Great. I think so too. The AfD has now ended, thank goodness, in part because of an even division between those who want to keep and those who want to delete, with the closer saying that the "discussion produced a plethora of alternative structures that could improve the situation, including: Splitting the list into multiple lists by decade (List of feature films with LGBT characters in the 1980s, ...), Splitting the list into multiple lists by sexual orientation (List of feature films with lesbian characters, ...), Limiting the list to a more narrow scope, such as feature films with only LGBT characters that play leading roles in the film." Based on what I, as a Wikipedia reader, would search for first, the identities is the most efficient method for finding information about LGBT characters in film.

I am traveling and my computer had a meltdown the day before I left home. I'm a Mac person, but a friend lent me her backup laptop to use on the road and it's Windows 11 -- and I am experiencing a challenge in restraining myself from cursing when I use it.
