The articles have been selected to give the historical context, before and after, for the "Royal Question", that is, the Belgian political crisis in 1950, surrounding the question whether Leopold III could return to his position as King of the Belgians after his surrender, as commander of the Belgian army, to the invading forces of the German reich in May 1940, and his release from German captivity by the army of the USA, in May 1945.
