United States House of Representatives elections, 2008 - complete list

I got so caught up in trying to update the vastly outdated info on the page that my editing must have gotten sloppy. I forgot to remove the boldening left from when the column was 2006 election results. Thanks for the heads up will remedy this in the future.

On another note: I've noticed your work on several political related pages and I appreciate your quality contributions. Once again thank for the heads up and your diligences most people would have just fixed it not letting the offending editor know, thusly they would never learn to avoid these stupidly simple mistakes which are easily avoidable.

Plate image sources

I am suspecting that some of the plate images are from various plate websites and just put up without permission. If you have some time, it may be worth looking into. --Plate King (talk) 23:15, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's pretty clear that some are ripped right off of 15q.net, while others are photoshopped compilations of images from that site. There's also been this weird tendency among several Wikipedia users — or, I suspect, one user and its sockpuppets — over several months to create strange Frankenstein-esque hybrid images of plate types and numbering formats that never existed. Most of them have been deleted over time due to copyvio issues, but you can see some on here now - on the History of Pennsylvania plates page, the ABC-12D-format Bicentennial plate, and on the Maryland page, the plate in the current shield design with New York dies. This has the potential to create confusion, particularly when those same users insist that these creations of their imagination actually were issued. Qqqqqq (talk) 23:28, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Some of the plates on the New Jersey page seem to be from moini.net and plates.2gat123.com, which has a few on some pages including most on the Idaho page and some others like Montana with questionable numbering formats. The latter site has a very restrictive usage clause in small almost impossible to read print on its main page saying in effect that any placement of their text or images on any Wikimedia Foundation project is acceptance of usage at a rate of $1 million per hour. I wouldn't go so far as to make accusations like that, but it could be that some of the stuff just came up in a Google image search and they just uploaded it. That would make the most sense, since there seems to be images from various sources popping up. As for the possibly manipulated images, it is a good idea to get rid of them. It's my suspicion, given the site owner's interest in plates showing serial formats from other states and the Wikipedia users' affinity for the same, as well as that hidden message on the front page of the site, but you're right - we have no proof. I think you've gotten most of the offending images, but I'll take a look at the U.S. license plate designs and serial formats page just to be sure. Qqqqqq (talk) 22:18, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

I suspect that the site owner probably had a problem with people stealing images before and had some trouble getting them removed. Some of the labeling of what stuff is on that site is wrong although they may be "copyright traps" since the person seems to be quite protective and would make sense if they felt they got burned before. State Plate Articles

I just grabbed an intro I liked and copied it in to the articles that needed it. I am also doing a bit of standarization and general cleanup. There seems to be a whole rash of new history articles. Travis Childers

In my opnion (which is certainly not binding to anything), Realtor has become like Xerox or Coke where it is used in a more general sense. Wikimedia image uploads

I saw your recent uploads of license plates and wanted to let you know I could not find any Galleries or Categories that they were in. No one will find them on Wikimedia or at least very easily. Each image that is uploaded should have a connecting Category or set up in a article Gallery. I see that you are using them here on Wikipedia so a page (not a category) with an identical name can be used on Wikimedia and all you have to do is put the {{Commons link on the pages here. Images removing

It isn't the images, it is the plate types. For instance Alabama offers many more than what you have, listing just three or four gives the impression that only three or four plates are on offer. Vehicle registration plates of New Jersey should be used as a model with its list of Current Valid Plate Types, which lists all the types of plates, has images and serial info for some which will hopefully get things rolling. Having all the types listed at once makes the most sense and will not lead to the possiblity of people thinking in error that there are fewer than there actually are. --Plate King (talk) 18:23, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Non-passenger and special vehicle registration plates of Georgia (U.S. state)

We as in me. It is a fairly common usage. I had nothing to do with the article, i just checked when you raised your concern. The state website has some plates on their as illustrations, while whoever put the plates up on the page appears to actually has hard copies of them or at least images of them. Hi, I noticed that the University of West Georgia's plate only has a placeholder image. I may be able to photograph or scan an example of this plate, since I live very near UWG. Are there any preferred specifications as far as image size/quality/whatever, or is there anything else I should know before uploading an image for use in the article?
