Rollback

Hi Qzd. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! — Earwig talk 10:45, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Vladislav Tretiak

What do you mean by considering my Vladislav Tretiak edit suspected vandalism? I provided the article; http://bandy2016.ru/en/news/137-vladislav-tretyak-schitaet-chto-khokkej-s-myachom-nuzhno-prodvigat-na-olimpijskie-igry-2 , whereas you changed back to the main news section, where only the headline is visible further down: http://bandy2016.ru/en/news — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.63.41.150 (talk) 19:02, 18 December 2015 (UTC)

Wiki: visible light

Hi Qzd,

The existing link "www.lightoplay.com" was my website. The contents are totally the same as the new site, except that for the new site, you have to go to the "Works" tab. There are more things like codes for students and researchers to download on the new site.

I have unsubscribed "www.lightoplay.com" because the subscription was just too expensive.

If your wiki does not permit school/institution's link but allows private/personal links, it should be properly declared under your rules and regulations and made clear to contributors.

In this case, I did not violate any of your rules because your current rules do not say that school's URLs are not allowed.

My conscience is clear. Merry Christmas. Okay i am not constructive. =) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ethanpng1 (talkcontribs) 00:59, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

@Ethanpng1: The guidelines for external links are here. Replacing a link with your own personal web pageLinking to personal web pages is not encouraged. Furthermore, external links should be in their own section, not strewn throughout the body of the article as in Visible light communication. Qzd (talk) 01:25, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

Laveyan Satanism compared to Objectivism?

Hey there Qzd, I'm not sure what exactly I posted and with what source. But I can almost bet it had something to do with the differences between Laveyan Satanism and Objectivism. Was it perhaps what Ayn Rand herself had said about movements and religion in general? Or where she talks of "magic" and how it is a mystical claim? Or the fact that most Satanists reject using reason as a primary? 78.69.217.113 (talk) 14:13, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

Recent edit to Grecia Herrada

"Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Grecia Herrada), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. In Latin America most persons have two names and two surnames: one comes from the father and the last last-name from the mother. Grecia Virgilia Herrada Garcia is an active (not retired as the article states) volleyball player currently defending the colors of the Universidad Cesar Vallejo professional team in the Liga Nacional Superior de Voleibol Femenino of Peru, the top level Peruvian volleyball competition, organized by the Peruvian Volleyball Federation.

She studied at the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, USIL, where she was part of its team and participated against other Peruvian universities in the XXI UNIVERSIADA of 2014 in which USIL's volleyball team was champion. The official USIL's web page mentions her by her full name in the list of players that appears in the web page that talks about the obtained championship: http://www.usil.edu.pe/0/modulos/NOT/NOT_DetallarNoticia.aspx?PFL=0&NOT=2968

On 2013 she was part of the Peruvian team that won Gold medal at the XVII Juegos Bolivarianos. Her technical file card of the competition states here full name: http://www.bolivarianos2013.pe/Atletas/Ficha.aspx?IDAtleta=7045

In late 2014 she was part of the Club Geminis professional volleyball team in the Liga Nacional Superior de Voleibol Femenino of Peru, club that obtained the second place in said tournament. The Municipality of Comas where the club has its headquarters awarded team and players. Again, her full name: Grecia Virgilia Herrada García, is mentioned in the press note at the municipality's web site: http://www.municomas.gob.pe/noticiasidcontenido=34.html

Thank you very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BaruchUnseen (talkcontribs) 04:25, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

@BaruchUnseen: Thanks for the info. You should post this on the article talk page or, better yet, inside the article as citations. Without citations, changes to the name are certain to be reverted by someone else. See WP:FOOTNOTES. Qzd (talk) 04:42, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

List of Cadbury products article

Hello, I see that you recently reverted my edit to the List of Cadbury products page. Let me explain that I was reverting the page from a random IP that kept adding useless, unsourced information. After the IP ceased reverting the page, I went through the revision history of the page, and noticed that the page had been vandalized a few times before other Wikipedia editors noticed. This is why I reverted the page to before the vandal IP contributed to the page. 2602:304:CDC0:D470:350D:DF14:1321:6BCB (talk) 03:29, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

It is not mistake but there is no such place KUKURGHANTI as I live there. Its KUKURGHATI. it was spelt wrong. Except Name everything is similar to Kukurghati. X-Files 2016 series event/continuation.

I'd like to ask your reasoning behind reverting an edit which added a citation the an official FOX description of the 2016 X-Files series continuation. The buck should stop with how FOX themselves categorizes their own tv show, rather than baseless user opinion. It does tremendous disservice to everyone (Wikipedia included) by disregarding official FOX statements about the show. I'm curious how doing so is rationalized and justified since it implies FOX is wrong about their own product. That borders on completely ridiculous does it not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.254.90.195 (talk) 03:38, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

I am under no obligation to explain why it should be one way or the other, nor do I really care, because a consensus has already been reached. When there was a vote, everyone voted to title it a miniseries. So the way forward is to make the argument there and try to alter the consensus. Qzd (talk) 05:54, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

There, was that so hard? I asked a simple question yet had to pry a simple answer that was still convoluted and littered with `I'm under no obligation` blah blah blah. There's a saying that applies in situations like these.. K.I.S.S. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.254.90.195 (talk) 15:35, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Builders of the Alaska Railroad

I see that you continue to remove the names of the builders of the Alaska Railroad without stating why you think this violates the terms and conditions of Wikipedia. I find it very interesting that you feel it's OK to list the names of the Railroad managers, but not the builders themselves. Do you feel managers deserve recognition, but not the workers themselves? Just curious how you evaluate who is noteworthy and who isn't? It's absolutely dreadful that Wikipedia is basically being vandalized by you right now. Shame on you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.93.76.113 (talk) 01:52, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

robert e lee statue

I fail to see what value the story of Mr. Mahler's Lamborghini adds to the history of this statue. It's not relevant. The fact that he withdrew from the contract to remove statues has not been proven to have anything to do with his car being torched. Why allow it in the article about Lee's statue? If you're trying to show a link between preservationists and flaggers to that vandalism, you're way off base. The only vandalism so far has been by those wanting the monuments removed. Also, Mr. Mahler is being sued by former employees, all of whom reside in New Orleans. The timing of the torching is suspicious, coming the day after the judge postponed any ruling on the statues. It would seem the most likely culprits would be those upset about that, those unhappy about Mr. Mahler's refusal to do the job, and his former employees who are suing him. Also it's highly suspicious that such a trophy car would be left outside overnight in that particular area. Think "city performance bond" and "insurance." Also, only mentioning the "death threats" is biased. H&O is primarily a landscaping contractor, and many of his clients threatened to cancel their contracts with him if he removed the statues. In all of the articles, he admitted that he wasn't worried about the death threats, that his primary concern was losing business.

I AM RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT ALL MENTION OF THAT INCIDENT BE REMOVED UNTIL IT'S BEEN PROVEN IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THE MONUMENTS.

Nor is the current political information necessary. That info can be found in great detail elsewhere. What is needed is the location, and how it came to be there, which is NOT reported in detail anywhere else. If you're going to include current politics, do a more balanced treatment of past and present. You might do a more complete history of the dedication and dignitaries who were present, instead of persisting with your attempt to make the statues monuments to white supremacy and only naming Confederate notables present. Check the Times Picayune articles of that time and stop judging the past by today's standards.

Same for the Lee's Circle Wiki.

THE "CONTROVERSY" CONTENT ADDED APPEARS TO VIOLATE 2 OF WIKI'S CORE POLICIES, 1) NO ORIGINAL RESEARCH AND 2) NEUTRAL POINT OF VIEW. The author has cut/pasted directly from his sources, not written in his own words.

I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT THIS ARTICLE BE REVISED AS I EDITED IT. LOCATION, AND HISTORICAL FACTS RELEVANT TO WHY IT EXISTS.

Removing biased information isn't vandalism. Allowing it to remain is misleading the public, tells only one side of a story and damages Wiki's reputation. Revisionists are damaging it's credibility, it's quite obvious the same people are rewriting things to fit their own agenda. 24.179.58.196 (talk) 22:27, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

@24.179.58.196: When removing sourced content, the minimum expectation is that you provide an explanation in the edit summary or article talk page. Without that, your edits will continue to be reverted by others. Case in point, I said nothing about "vandalism", that was from other users. This discussion needs to take place on the article talk page, not here. Qzd (talk) 22:58, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. The message I received referred to my edits as "vandalism," and I was threatened with blocking if I continued to remove the content. The current information is one-sided and based on Wiki's policy should not be allowed. I have no intention of engaging in an "edit war" with individuals who are biased on the subject of American history, and if I receive further threats I will take it up with Wiki Administration.24.179.58.196 (talk) 14:52, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Cremorne Railway Bridge

Please help me learn the intricacies of Wikipedia editing by explaining why you reverted my edit to a cite which was flagged as an error, and now is so flagged again, as a result of your reversion. The cite is a photo which has a 17-word caption but no title as such. To remove the flag I inserted "no title" in the "title=" section, which you have deleted.

If what I did to remove the flagged error is wrong, what is the right way to go about it? Should the 17-word caption be treated as the title?

emily dickinson poem

Hi Qzd, you just undid a correction I made to Emily Dickinson's poem in the wiki page for "stanza". You seem to be suffering from the same problem as Kunalforyou, so I'm going to forward to you the same message I sent him:

Hi, it's me again. "stanza" editor. I went back and logged in so I could talk to you. I also did a little research on your history. It seems like you are a young, eager fellow with a lot of time on your hands and a great ambition to become a wikipedia editor. You've been going around using wikipedia's tools to undo other people's edits. Unfortunately, it also looks like you have been using these tools willy-nilly, without much regard to, or understanding of, what you are doing. It also looks like you are not a native english speaker. For example, it's clear you didn't understand the text of the poem you should have been reading, and you didn't do any checking of the sources before you undid my edits. It took me about an hour to recheck and double check and triple check and figure out where things went wrong and then re-correct the Emily Dickinson poem you "corrected". That's an hour of my time, wasted. If you want to be successful at what you are doing and not piss people off, you need to start to take care about the way you use the tools you have been given, because tools can be destructive as well as usefulShrinkydink07 (talk) 11:30, 5 February 2016 (UTC). And you need to stay close to what you know, and stay away from what you don't know--at least, don't know yet. And the finer points of the English language, like anything having to do with poetry, you don't know. I know you're young, and young men don't like to admit that they don't know something. But, by splashing your edits all over wikipedia, you're advertising for the whole world to see how much you don't know. A little humility will go a long way in protecting you. But I encourage you to read lots and lots of Emily Dickinson's poems. They might not change your life, but they will help you get a much better appreciation for the English language. Emily Dickinson is a fine poet, and English is a lovely language. Who knows?--you might fall in love. And that might be life-changing enough. Good luck, S — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shrinkydink07 (talkcontribs) 09:36, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Steve Kean

Hello, I recently changed the line in an article on Brunei DPMM that stated that Steve Kean was a Blackburn Rovers legend. To which you then subsequently changed back. Can you provide me with any evidence to support your theory that he is a legend of the club? Are you, yourself a Blackburn Rovers fan? I'm fairly sure the answer is no, because no self respecting Rovers fan would ever class him as a club legend. Unless you were referring to as being legendarily bad. His record at our club was appallingly bad. I respect he has gone onto win the title with his new club and I wish him all the best, but I cannot accept this flagrant use of our clubs name. I shall be changing it back to "flop" as this is the most suitable and polite term I can think of to describe his tenure with the club.

Tamil old language

Submerged lands in ancient Indian literature

Multiple ancient and medieval Tamil and Sanskrit works contain legendary accounts of lands in South India being lost to the ocean. The earliest explicit discussion of a katalkol ("seizure by ocean", possibly tsunami) of Pandyan land is found in a commentary on Iraiyanar Akapporul. This commentary, attributed to Nakkeerar, is dated to the later centuries of the 1st millennium CE. It mentions that the Pandyan kings, an early Tamil dynasty, established three literary academies (Sangams): the first Sangam flourished for 4,400 years in a city called Tenmaturai, attended by 549 poets (including Agastya) and presided over by gods like Shiva, Kubera and Murugan. The second Sangam lasted for 3,700 years in a city called Kapatapuram, attended by 59 poets (including Agastya, again). The commentary states that both the cities were "seized by the ocean", resulting in loss of all the works created during the first two Sangams. The third Sangam was established in Uttara (North) Madurai, where it is said to have lasted for 1,850 years.[7][8]:55–56[9]

Nakkeerar's commentary does not mention the size of the territory lost to the sea. The size is first mentioned in a 15th-century commentary on Silappatikaram. The commentator Adiyarkunallar mentions that the lost land extended from Pahruli river in the north to the Kumari river in the South. It was located to the south of Kanyakumari, and covered an area of 700 kavatam (a unit of unknown measurement). It was divided into 49 territories (natu), classified in the following seven categories:[9]

Elu teñku natu ("Seven coconut lands")
Elu Maturai natu ("Seven mango lands")
Elu munpalai natu ("Seven front sandy lands")
Elu pinpalai natu ("Seven back sandy lands")
Elu kunra natu ("Seven hilly lands")
Elu kunakarai natu ("Seven coastal lands")
Elu kurumpanai natu ("Seven dwarf-palm lands")

Other medieval writers, such as Ilampuranar and Perasiriyar, also make stray references to the loss of antediluvian lands to the south of Kanyakumari, in their commentaries on ancient texts like Tolkappiyam. Another legend about the loss of Pandyan territory to the sea is found in scattered verses of Purananuru (dated between 1st century BCE and 5th century CE) and Kaliththokai (6th-7th century CE).[10][11] According to this account, the Pandyan king compensated the loss of his land by seizing an equivalent amount of land from the neighboring kingdoms of Cheras and Cholas.

There are also several other ancient accounts of non-Pandyan land lost to the sea. Many Tamil Hindu shrines have legendary accounts of surviving the floods mentioned in Hindu mythology. These include the prominent temples of Kanyakumari, Kanchipuram, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Sirkazhi and Tiruvottiyur.[8]:57–69 There are also legends of temples submerged under the sea, such as the Seven Pagodas of Mahabalipuram. The Puranas place the beginning of the most popular Hindu flood myth - the legend of Manu - in South India. The Sanskrit-language Bhagavata Purana (dated 500 BCE-1000 CE) describes its protagonist Manu (aka Satyavrata) as the Lord of Dravida (South India). The Matsya Purana (dated 250–500 CE) also begins with Manu practicing tapas on Mount Malaya of South India.[8]:57 Manimeghalai (dated around 6th century CE) mentions that the ancient Chola port city of Kavirippumpattinam (present-day Puhar) was destroyed by a flood. It states that this flood was sent by the Hindu deity Indra, because the king forgot to celebrate a festival dedicated to him.[8]:62

None of these ancient texts or their medieval commentaries use the name "Kumari Kandam" or "Kumari Nadu" for the land purportedly lost to the sea. They do not state that the land lost by the sea was a whole continent located to the south of Kanyakumari. Nor do they link the loss of this land to the history of Tamil people as a community.[9] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clementcyril123 (talkcontribs) 09:04, 21 April 2016 (UTC)

Labour Party (Ireland)

Objection to reversal of edits made - the party has shifted to the right in Ireland in the last government, with many members pursuing privatisation and neo-liberal economics. Edit was not unconstructive. Wiki is a place for the truth, not party lines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8084:983F:7100:D4C3:6C7:3063:BE10 (talk) 11:55, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not about the "truth"; its core principles are neutrality and verifiability. You're going to have to do more work than swapping out a couple words to support such a change, even though it might seem obvious to you. See Wikipedia:No original research. How IPFW Mastodons REALLY got their name

Hello Qzd,

I just wrote a 3 paragraph edit on how the Fort Wayne, Indiana IPFW Mastodons "really" got their name. It was the first time that I ever edited a Wikipedia listing and apparently you removed it, since I did not list a published reference.

I will have to dig through boxes to find my stack of old "IPFW Communicators," so I can give you a published reference to prove that I am correct & not the person, who claimed that based on the Geology Department's lobbying efforts, the name Mastodon was chosen. As I was a student there at the time & had been elected to the Student Union Board 2 years in a row & was involved with the student voting process that selected "Mastodon," I know that whoever submitted their version of the mascot name selection process is incorrect. As I stated in my deleted update, Mustang was one of the other options in that vote.

I graduated from IPFW in 1974 and thought it would be nice to correct what I know is wrong in the article.

Since I am not sure where my box of old college newspapers is located at this time, it may be awhile for me to get back to correct the wrong information. If a photo of my 1974 IPFW Diploma would help, I can provide that in the interim, ;^)

My name for any interested parties is Roger Nordeen and I am certain that I am correct, for what it is worth.68.84.146.107 (talk) 23:36, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

Edits on Sean Michaels

Qzd: You recently undid a revision I made to the pornographic film star Sean Michaels. It was about him being one of the few intact, black porn stars. Your reason for deleting it was that I didn't cite the source for that. However, other than this being an obvious fact to anyone who has seen any of his films, there is another source where he directly reveals this information in an interview. Unfortunately, the interview was given to a pornographic blog and links to pornographic images. So I can't link that to a wikipedia article without getting in trouble. You can see the interview here: http://www.papichulosblog.com/papiinmiamifl/2010/01/sean-michaels.html. Since the information given is a verifiable fact, I'm going to restore it. If you have any further objections, please raise them with me on my page. Thanks. Captainbryce1 (talk) 18:15, 6 December 2016

Ok I have a source but putting it in is too hard it only gets me pissed off http://meedia.de/2016/12/30/winnetou-bricht-zum-finale-voellig-ein-und-ist-voellig-chancenlos-gegen-die-soko-wien-und-2016-das-quiz/ There is the link that shows it was badly receved.I tried to put it in the references list but failed and as I said it only gets me pissed off and depressed.I would prefer you to fix it instead of just removing it.Did you also remove the picture on the 1995 year list of people born of Dua Lipa.If so I would love to know why cause did that as it should. Was it made by me hell no but most pics from singers actors dead people whatever are not made by the person who puts it on the Wikipedia if you can only use those there would be hardly any pics on here. That page you reffered to how to fix this could just have well been written in Chinese I don't understand it. http://www.20min.ch/entertainment/tv/story/25850650 William Douglas these articles show I am correct I just do not iknow how to show the links and refer to them in the article.Would be nice if you could do that I can help with the translations if you need any.But trying to addd them just gets me depressed and gives me a migraine William Douglas

@William Douglas: Sorry you're having trouble, don't be discouraged. The easiest way is just to add the URL after the statement, enclosed in <ref></ref>. You can also see examples in Template:Cite news for how to format a complete citation. Qzd (talk) 22:43, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

My edit of the Habitable epoch section of the Chronology of the Universe Wikipedia page was not vandalism. Later in the page in the Star Formation section it clearly states that elements heavier than Lithium where first formed. In the first 20 minutes of the Big Bang only Hydrogen, Helium and Lithium were formed. According to the page elements necessary for life and water such as Oxygen and Carbon were not formed until 560 million year after the Big Bang. So 10 to 17 million after the Big Bang it is impossible for there to be liquid water as claimed. The suggestion that primitive life formed during this period is surprising. The Nature article referred to in the section appears to have inadequately peer reviewed. I have recently registered but have been using Wikipedia since its early days. DJM1961Br (talk) 22:45, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

@DJM1961Br: It was not reverted as vandalism but for lacking a source and improper formatting. Commentary doesn't go in the article. If you want to challenge how the article has been written or sourced please do so at the article's talk page, there appears to be an ongoing discussion related to this: Talk:Chronology_of_the_universe#Inconsistency_in_dating_of_the_Dark_Ages Qzd (talk) 23:08, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

update to Jay Karas wikipedia page

I made edits last October, and I see you reverted back to the old version in November, indicating I didn't properly cite a source. I don't know how to do that, but I am Jay Karas, editing my own page to reflect what I want it to say. If there's some protocol I need to follow to indicate that I'm the one editing, let me know, as I'm not well-versed in the wikipedia editing etiquette, and I'm only editing my own page. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karasovia (talkcontribs) 16:35, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

Witts Springs, AR article

You have Witts Springs spelt numerous ways on the article. The correct spelling is "Witts Springs" as you have cited data from the USGS which also spells it "Witts Springs". Other than the first utterance in the article's first sentence, the article title and all other spellings lack an additional s at the end of springs. You have it spelt two different ways, obviously one is wrong. Check your own citation.... Use Arkansas Geological Survey as a citation too, since the Witts Springs Formation is the name of rock unit in the state of Arkansas and appears in numerous published geologic maps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.94.172.206 (talk) 18:54, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

@170.94.172.206: I have not edited the page before so the prior spelling and citations are not mine. I've restored your edits but it's confusing why Template:GNIS would auto-generate a reference that says "Spring" but the USGS page itself says "Springs". The page title and Template:Searcy County, Arkansas also need to be changed to reflect the USGS source. Qzd (talk) 20:58, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
