Hello RGUWebTeam. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Robert Gordon University, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Request reason:

I am not receiving compensation for my contributions to Wikipedia and understand that I have been blocked with the best intentions of the administrators. I promise that I intend only to edit pages based on fact and real information, it is my view that the current information for Robert Gordon University is outdated by several years. I wish to input the most up to date information that will correctly reflect the university and support Wikipedia in sharing the most high quality and up to date information it can. This is reflected in my updating of the names of the Buildings on Robert Gordon University campus, which were wrongly listed since around 2018. I have view to update the statistics for Robert Gordon University and to update the list of Honorary Degree graduates, which had not been updated since 2015.RGUWebTeam (talk) 14:59, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Hello, it is not my view that I have been updating anything for promotional reasons. I am purely updating factual information that I will gladly find source for across secondary platforms. As mentioned previously, it appears that some information has not been updated for several years (around 2015-2016) meaning that the information that I have successfully updated and intend to update was and is not factual anymore. My aim is to ensure that Wikipedia includes the correct information about Robert Gordon University and will not be using it for any promotional gain for the university. - - - - Employment is considered "paid editing", it does not require specific payment for edits, so you will need to make the Terms of Use-required paid editing disclosure on your user page once unblocked. Please see conflict of interest; we usually want to see people in your position edit in areas unrelated to their conflict of interest first, as a demonstration of their understanding of relevant policies, before permitting them to indirectly request COI related edits. However, I would be willing to consider unblocking you now if you agree to abide by the COI policy and limit yourself to proposing conflict of interest-related edits as edit requests(while understanding that you are permitted to remove unambiguous vandalism yourself).       - 331dot, that would be fine, esp. since the editor does not see how their edits were indeed promotional and not just factual. I am not convinced they fully understand what our project is and what kinds of writing we do, nor am I convinced that they actually read the relevant policies and guidelines; in the meantime, edit requests, as outlined in the COI guidelines, are the way to go.
