rsc.org[edit]

Your editing has spawned some talk at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Chemistry#RSC Publishing editing journal articles. Obviously, you appear to be affiliated with RSC Publishing. So long as your contributions follow the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view policy that should be fine, though there are concerns about your neutrality. Femto 14:10, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a category for RSC after noticing that there is now one for ACS. You may care to check whether I have missed adding any articles to the category, particularly journal articles. Note that journals should not be in Category:Scientific journals as well as Category:Chemistry journals, as the former is parent to the latter. I have corrected some cases of this. Also long ago I added all RSC journals to List of scientific journals in chemistry. Again you might care to check whether I have it right. BTW, I have no concerns about your neutrality. I think you are well keeping to the NPOV policy, but I can see that some people might worry about it. However, as a FRSC, I might not notice your POV! --Bduke 02:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chemical Biology[edit]

I have changed all the links to the Journal, Chemical Biology to Chemical Biology (journal) so this is a red link. Maybe you can write the article. Note that Chemical Biology actually redirects to Biochemistry and that redirect occurs on one article. --Bduke 11:55, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at these and comment. --Bduke 06:14, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Role accounts[edit]

Sorry, but I think you need to look at m:Role account. It seems that what you are doing is against the rules. I came across this at a discussion of User:Vcaaweb, a group of users doing what you are doing. It is discussed at Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board#"Official" edit to Victorian Certificate of Education by VCAA?. The discussion there is not unsymapthetic, as indeed has been the discussion of your joint account. I'm not sure what the best approach is. E-mail me from my user page if you want to discuss it. --Bduke 12:17, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Journals[edit]

I have now completed a trawl through all the RSC Journal articles and also added Education in Chemistry. I have removed what I consider to be POV comments and the section on "not for profit" which is seen as an advert. I have moved many external links to internal links. Most importantly I have added the tag asking for citations whenever there is an impact fact quoted. It is important that these statements are cited, both to give the date that impact factor was measured and also because it is a recognition of the journal from outside RSC. Many editors are cautious about all sources being internal to, in this case, the publisher of the journal. You have the details of this. Could you please add citations? A final question - is Catalysts and Catalysed Reactions really a journal? If not the journal category should be removed and it should be deleted from the list of scientific journals in chemistry. --Bduke 00:02, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Impact factors[edit]

Could you please add a source for the impact factors in the RSC journal articles? This is important as it will be the only non-RSC source for the notability of the journals. Some people are increasingly asking for this. You will probably know how to find these better than I can. If you do not know how to add references please ask me. --Bduke 08:33, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest and role account[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:00, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Front cover Volume 1 Issue 1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Front cover Volume 1 Issue 1.jpg, which you've sourced to RSC. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:57, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:EESfrontcover148.jpg missing description details[edit]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 04:56, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
