Links to Tanakh Profiles site[edit]

I am afraid I had to revert your edits to article Aaron in the See also section. Your entry was a hyper link outside of Wikipedia. All other entries on the page were to Wikipedia articles. But more importantly, your link was to a page that was not written in English. It is a mix of Hebrew and English that can not be understood at all without an understanding of Hebrew. As such it does not belong in the Engish section of Wikipedia. Thank you for your interest in Wikipedia and I hope that this revert does not scare you away.

Thank you for your reply on my talk page.

After reverting the referenced edit I noticed that you had edited two other pages in a similar format.

The reverted edit was in the See also section.

Your edit of Books of Kings was in the more appropriate External links section.

Instead of reverting your edit to Nevi'im I decided to look for the advise of someone with a better knowledge of Hebrew. Please review his response on my talk page as he give an example of how to make the entry more exceptable. The key points being placing it in the External Link section rather than the See also section; as well as including the actual link as a reference and adding a note as to the fact the the article in a mixture of Hebrew/English. If you take those steps there should be no problem with including it.

As to your comment "firstly, English Wikipedia articles themselves occasionally do contain words in other languages - Aaron itself has two that I saw." That is a bad example as it actually support the deletion of your edit. In Aaron as will other entries in Wikipedia English edition, the use of a foreign language is in addition to the Engish. If the the foreign words were deleted the article would still be readable. They are use to add addition meaning or used as a reference. The article you have linked to is unreadable in English as ALL names are in Hebrew which results in the following:

Thank you for responding, and for being patient with me - I'm new to editing on Wikipedia. Your point about the inclusion of Hebrew on the Aaron entry is well taken. I understand the distinction of putting a link in the External Link section rather than the See also section, but don't know what to do if there is no "External Link Section". I am fairly new myself. You will probably find that you will learn best by trying and learning from your mistakes. As to the question as to what to do if here is not "External Link Section" the simple answer is to make one. I will go ahead and put back your edit to Aaron and you can use that as an example of how to fix the other two entries. You may find the following two articles helpful: Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:Footnotes

I have found the following useful as a guide to creating footnotes: (It was easier to include it as a separate section)

One additoinal point, you will notice that your signature as posted on my talk page is an IP address instead of your user name. This was due to the fact that you did not log in prior to posting the reply. It is not required, but logging in does have several benefits. You will find that if you are using the same computer to access Wikipedia, the cookies will automaticly log you in (most of the time)Just look for your user name at the top of the page, if it is there, then you are logged in. Hi, I accept that the links you are adding could be of value to people who can read Hebrew. Please would you consider adding "See also translations of names" at the end of the line, every time you provide a link? This could make the resource slightly more usable for people who can't. As you don't seem to be editing any more, I've done them for you. If you do return and add links on more pages, please provide these extra links for translation (or rather, transliteration).
