The wikipage Mar Thoma Syrian Church[edit]

Hello, please look into the page Mar Thoma Syrian Church, wherein even after providing much citations, the changes are being reverted. All facts that I have provided are truthful. What should I do, I would not like to have an edit war. Randomscholar1996 (talk) 13:14, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I am not an admin, but I can advise you. You need to stop reverting back to the changes you put in place on the Mar Thoma Syrian Church and discuss them on the talk page. Repeatedly reverting your changes back in, without discussion, will only lead you to being blocked.
Note that the burden is on you to get consensus for your changes first. It is not the responsibility of anyone else to convince everyone that your changes are either improvements, or not. If there is a dispute over your edit, you cannot insist it goes in, and then discussed afterwards.
Also note that this page has been the source of a number of disagreements recently. That doubly means you should try an seek consensus for your changes. Constant edit warring tends to lead to the page being locked so that no-one gets to edit it, and no-one is happy.
I know this can be frustrating, particularly if you are convinced your edit is an improvement and factually correct. But that's how Wikipedia works. You need to demonstrate to those who disagree why your edit is an improvement. Everyone is editing in good faith, so should be open to discussion and compromise.
Hope this helps. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:46, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Escape Orbit Thank you, it does really help. I was a bit confused as to what I did wrong. May I ask, how many days should I wait for a consensus, if anyone does not reply am I allowed to revert? Randomscholar1996 (talk) 14:53, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I usually give these things a week or so. Some people who have edited before, or have an interest in the matter, will not check in every day. Or you could try breaking your edits down to smaller parts. Do the simple, non-controversial stuff first. Like grammar fixes, layout etc. Break down your discussion on the talk page into simpler points. A large wall of text discourages people from engaging and also tends to suggest you are constructing original research. Remember, what counts more than anything is what is verifiable and what reliable sources say. No-one cares what a Wikipedia editor has concluded through their own investigations or opinions. Above; try not to take things personally and try to co-operate with others. Show you are willing to discuss and compromise. Editing Wikipedia should be enjoyable, not a battle! --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:09, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Since @Escape Orbit:'s answer was so spot on, there's not much I (as an admin) can add to it. Definitely support the breaking up of changes bit - it also helps avoid an issue where a single problem leads to individuals canning the whole set of changes, which is obviously a major irritation. August 2020[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Eastern Protestant Christianity; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Elizium23 (talk) 04:52, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Curb Safe Charmer. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Finance, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 07:56, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Curb Safe Charmer Yes I will do so, I was about to add further details as well and then add citations. I will add it. Randomscholar1996 (talk) 08:14, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indenting discussions[edit]

I have asked you at least once to indent your replies so that we can properly read threaded discussion. This is especially important with very verbose talk pages such as the one you are helping to create on Talk:Mar Thoma Syrian Church. You indent replies with ":" at the beginning of the line, more colons indents more space for each further reply. I will indent some replies for you so that you get the idea, but it is not our job to babysit your comments, and it is not our job to try and read a wall of text with poor formatting. Elizium23 (talk) 05:11, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Elizium23 Cut me some slack bro. I am a new comer. I am still learning stuff. Isnt there some rule not to bite newbies. I will try to fix it, sometimes it doesnt. Good Lord! Randomscholar1996 (talk) 05:21, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 30[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Finance, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Babylonian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

February 2023[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Mar Thoma Syrian Church shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Information icon Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on Mar Thoma Syrian Church. You've been here too long to not understand WP:AGF; this isn't the first time. ~ Pbritti (talk) 02:13, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
