Welcome to Topical Storm Archive 4. This archives all the Talk messages I got from October 2006 to September 2007.

Pokemon seizure image[edit]

Hi! I just noticed that it was you who uploaded the Electric Soldier Porygon screenshot. I'm curious--where did you get that? Since the episode was never shown again, I'd assumed it'd be near-impossible to see any of it, or certainly to get a clear screenshot. --Masamage 02:58, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, awesome! Thanks, I'll give that a look. And I promise not to try and sue you if I go into a fit. X) --Masamage 04:31, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your image uploads[edit]

You've uploaded a lot of unfree images, claiming their use on Wikipedia is acceptable under the fair use guidelines. However, you have not provided a rationale for this on any image. Tagging the image page with a generic tag is not enough; you must explain why the specific use of the image in a particular article or articles is permissible as fair use. I recommend you review your upload log and explain your rationale for claiming fair use. Additionally, please remember that fair use should be used as sparingly as possible on Wikipedia, as it impedes redistribution of Wikipedia's content and raises the potential of legal problems. Thanks, and if you have any questions, please feel welcome to contact me on my Talk page. --Slowking Man 09:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have sources for these? (I think I remember that you took them yourself?) If not, we can always revert them back to the old versions, which despite being lower quality do have definite sources. --Masamage 04:49, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, awesome. ^^ I can help with the fair use rationale, but I think it will require shrinking the images down somewhat. Is it okay with you if I go ahead and put that all in place? --Masamage 07:55, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I dug through all your Sailor Moon image uploads (just the ones from that series) and was able to correct Image:SMReyecatch.jpg, Image:DeadScream.jpg, and Image:Chaos-smoon.jpg; none of the rest had warning tags on them. I'm tickled that you'd like my help with more, but it's bedtime, so I'll just explain to you what I did. :)

First(ish), I shrank the images down a bit. This is kind of achieved by eyeballing it and considering what size might be considered large enough to be unfair; I went with 60% on those three, but you may choose another size with other images.

Next, I made sure to note the source of the image--first its context and who owns the copyright, then where the actual file came from and how it got to Wikipedia. (When I typed 'uploader' as the person who took the screenshots, I only linked to your username because, due to my shrinking the images, the last uploader was in fact me. So I wanted it to be clear which uploader I meant; when you shrink your own images, don't worry about that.)

After that, I note exactly where and why the images are going to be used--which articles, for what purpose. Finally, I explain why I think this is an reasonable thing to do. (It helps to look at the liscensing box itself, and try to accomodate the points it lists.)

I hope that helps! Signing off now, but let me know if you have more questions or anything else. Thanks for uploading all of these; I'm pretty impressed by how many of the images we're using come from you. :) --Masamage 08:35, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion tags[edit]

(NOTE: I have no idea what this anon is doing. Some guy created an article, another user tagged it for speedy, and this anon reverted, so I restored it, the anon reverted, and another user reverted back to speedy. I have no clue what the deal is here.)

Please examine more closely the criterion for speedy deletion before tagging any further articles for deletion. Your use of {{Db-empty}} on Anaheim pepper was inappropiate. The "CSD A1" criterion says "Limited content is not in itself a reason to delete if there is enough context for the article to qualify as a valid stub.

Look what took all of four minutes to fix up. While creating content is marginally more difficult and doesn't rack up the edit count quite so much as tagging pages for deletion, it is what we're here for after all.

SM images[edit]

Hi! I like your ideas for using a shot of the Tsukino home and of Usagi's parents; I think they'd be excellent for the List of Sailor Moon locations and List of minor Sailor Moon characters, respectively. :) Could you easily obtain some?

If possible, I think a shot of Usagi's parents with brother might be best, to reduce the sheer number of pictures.

Thank you for the offer! --Masamage 00:30, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A mad anon[edit]

(NOTE: In normal cases I wouldn't keep this since it's attacking someone else, but this anon is just too much. Please see an article history (he is both 64.30.251.215 and TomBrady2000). See that his contribution is not notable in any way. Also see both his anon contributions and his user account contributions. He has attacked people before, and now he's attacking me. Sonic articles[edit]

Rattleman, I have deleted a large part off the wiki articles on Sonic the Hedgehog characters for a serious reason. Wikipedia being fundamentally of education nature and purpose, this is sickening to see that it is being polluted by such articles, elaborating endless and trivial details about fictional console game characters.

I have no problems with having wiki articles on video games characters on Wikipedia, but these articles go WAY TOO FAR, as their lenght and triviality of the information provided is preposterous, and uninteresting to 99% of the population. I mean, why is it that the wiki article on the Internet, as a example, is like 3 times shorter than an article on Sonic the Hedgehog character??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Christthi (talkcontribs)

An article that you have been involved in editing, Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series, has been listed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. Please look there to see why this is, if you are interested in whether it should be deleted. Thank you. --Slowking Man 17:25, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:SU-Chomps.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SU-Chomps.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:06, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Vandal tags[edit]

Thank you for reverting vandalism on Wikipedia!

Be sure to put warning tags on the vandal's user talk page (such as {{subst:test}}, {{subst:test2}}, {{subst:test3}}, {{subst:test4}}). Add each of these tags on the vandal's talk page, in sequential order, after each instance of vandalism. Adding warnings to the talk page assists administrators in determining whether or not the user should be blocked. If the user continues to vandalize pages after you add the {{subst:test4}} tag, request administrator assistance at Request for Intervention. Again, thank you for helping to make Wikipedia better. --Kralizec! (talk) 15:45, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cat images[edit]

Hiya! The Cats (Sailor Moon) article has gone up, and I used (a slightly cropped version of) the image you recommended at the top of it. Thanks for that, by the way; I really think it looks awesome. :) On the image page itself, I listed you as the person who took the screenshot—that's correct, right? I'd also love to know the exact episode number it was taken from, because I haven't got a clue. Secondly, it seems that the other three cat images you've uploaded—Image:LunaSM.jpg, Image:ArtemisSM.jpg, and Image:DianaSM.jpg—have been obsoleted by the new one. If it's okay with you, I think we should probably slap an {{orfud}} template on them and move along. What do you think? --Masamage 05:01, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dragonball Wiki[edit]

  • Hi there. I noticed you're a member of Wikiproject Dragonball, and I'm trying to recruit some people from that to contribute to the Dragon Ball Wiki. It's in terrible shape right now with pretty much no consistency or policies, and only this week have I been able to get Angela and Sannse to create some Forums for us over there. I've got a proposed Manual of Style going over there and would like some people to contribute to that to set up some policies and start making the wiki bigger, better, and more intelligible/consistent. If you're interested, please hop on over or talk to me. Thanks for the time, whether you're interested or not. Wildyoda 02:29, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:S20558c8cot.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:S20558c8cot.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 19:26, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Raye, by Masamage (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Raye fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Not an appropriate redirect; the only two Wikipedia articles that link here are talking about real people, not the Sailor Moon character

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Raye, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:07, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
