Your complaint[edit]

I see you've left a notice about user:Hemlock Martinis on many people's talk pages. It's not a good idea to ask so many people the same thing. It is generally better to pick one or maybe two; Jimbo Wales' page is watched by lots of people. Also you can use a noticeboard, such as Administrator's Noticeboard/Incidents (but read the provisos at the top about it not being the complaints department. Did you raise the issue with the admin in question? Flyguy649 talk contribs 07:59, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please be civil[edit]

Ravi, please be civil. Calling someone arrogant [1] won't help you. By the way, administrators are promoted from the Wikipedia community by way of a discussion. See WP:RFA if you're interested in seeing how that works. Flyguy649 talk contribs 08:27, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to be civil. Hemlock Martinis made me angry by blocking IP address: 202.52.234.194 and my account User:R-1441. That is unfair. He should have only blocked the account of Devraj5000. RaviJames 08:58, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is, they all appear to be the same account. I for one would appreciate an explanation. Cheers, Mackensen (talk) 11:27, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you should have been blocked if it was an honest mistake. Jmm6f488 13:56, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

I'm not an administrator, but to see the process of becoming an administrator, look at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. I'd urge you to look at the Past nominations, both the successful and unsuccessful ones (there's a link at the top of that page.) Although there are not hard rules, a rough guideline is 2000 edits spread across a variety of articles, Wikipedia space (pages that start with Wikipedia:), and talk pages. A good history of interacting well with others is pretty much expected. And time. It seems that about 4-6 months of positive contributions is what works these days. So I'd say you've not started out on the best note. However, there have been people promoted to adminship who have started out as vandals. Just take your time, read about the policies that are above in the Welcome section at the top of this page, assume good faith in others' actions, and always keep civil. I hope that helps. Avoid personal attacks[edit]

With regards to your comments on User talk:Jimbo Wales: here. Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. WjBscribe 04:20, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry about the personal attacks. From now on, I will make my point without any personal attacks. RaviJames 04:55, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

R-1441[edit]

I must admit I find that rather hard to believe, considering the sequence of events and the things said. Nevertheless, if you really want the handle R-1441 back, you can talk to administrators about unblocking the account. Chubbles 02:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
