CD Villanueva[edit]

The Wikipedia manual of style states that names are not to be abbreviated in article titles. Yet there are a number of Club Deportivo articles that use the CD abbreviation in the title. I found these confusing. Please, what is the justification for the abbreviation? I don't mean, "That's what all the fans call it." That is a reason for having a redirect from, for example, CD Villanueva. I mean, what is the justification for using the abbreviated name for an encyclopedia article? --Bejnar 21:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Template:Line 3 - Madrid Metro, by Ignis Fatuus (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Template:Line 3 - Madrid Metro fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

not necessary any more, see Line 3 (Madrid Metro) for svg image with clickable elements which is much better than the template

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Template:Line 3 - Madrid Metro, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Template:Line 3 - Madrid Metro itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 02:53, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

link to Defender[edit]

Hello, when you want to link to the article about a defender, please do not link to defender, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as defender (football) by writing out [[defender (football)|defender]] Regards, -- Jeff3000 12:29, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thierry Henry[edit]

Tercera División[edit]

Over the past five years, I have seen how each Federation handles their Tercera División when there are more clubs being relegated from the Segunda División B than are being promoted to the 2ªB eventhough they could have a maximum of 22 clubs:

  • 1 Galicia relegates 3 clubs; in 2002/03, 4 were relegated when Lugo was demoted from 2B and no clubs were promoted.
  • 2 Asturias relegates 3 clubs; in 2002/03, 5 were relegated when Marino, Langreo & Ribasella was demoted from 2B and no clubs were promoted. In 2003/04, 4 were relegated when Caudal & Aviles were demoted and one club was promoted.
  • 3 Cantabria relegates 3 clubs; in 2002/03, 4 were relegated when Noja was demoted from 2B and no clubs were promoted.
  • 4 Euskadi relegates 3 clubs; in 2002/03 4 were relegated when Gernika was demoted from 2B and no clubs were promoted. In 2005/06, 6 were relegated when Durango, Alavés B, portugalete & Zalla were demoted from 2B and one club was promoted.
  • 5 Catalunya relegates 3 clubs; in 2002/03, 5 were relegated when Reus, Hospilalet & Gavà were demoted from 2B and one club was promoted. In 2003/04, 4 were relegated when Mataro & Palamos were demoted and one club was promoted.
  • 13 Murcia relegates 3 clubs; in 2003/04, 4 were relegated when Yeclano was demoted from 2B and no clubs were promoted.
  • 18 Castilla La Mancha relegates 3 clubs; in 2003/04, 4 were relegated when Toledo was demoted from 2B and no clubs were promoted.

In every case above, the league started with 20 clubs. I am not certain about 15 Navarra and 16 La Rioja. As a combined league in 2002/03, they had 21 clubs and relegated 4 but Peralta was demoted from 2B, so the 2003/04 season started with 21 clubs again. In 2005/06, Navarra had 19 clubs instead of the normal 18 when Peralta was demoted, and La Rioja had 17 clubs instead of 16 when Haro was demoted. Both leagues increased their relegation number by one: 4 for Navarra and 3 for La Rioja that season. Raul17 19:13, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Buen trabajo[edit]

Fernando Torres[edit]

Fernando Torres will sign for Liverpool tomorrow - it even says in the link you put in your edit summary! Mattythewhite 17:53, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As you even admit, he is a Liverpool player tomorrow. Not today. Mattythewhite 17:59, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Today he is an Atlético Madrid player. Tomorrow he is a Liverpool player. Its not like his contract has been cancelled at Atlético (has it?). Mattythewhite 18:05, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mattythewhite is correct. He will sign tomorrow. But for now he is not a Liverpool player, just someone who Liverpool will be signing soon (God willing). Robotforaday 18:10, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spanish municipality infoboxes[edit]

I have reverted your redirects from the special Asturian and Valencian infoboxes. It's fine to migrate these over to {{Infobox City Spain}}, and you've done a good job with the ones you have modified by hand, but because the names of the parameters are different, the boxes which just use the redirected template are full of gibberish in the meantime. Since the parameter names will have to be done manually, one will have to go through each municipality and correct the parameter names and use the new template. As this will take some time, and in order to avoid ugly chaos in the meantime, I reverted the redirects. However, please continue to fix up the individual municipalities to fit the standard infobox (like you did with Gijón). When all the templates are corrected on the individual pages, the old templates can be deleted; no redirect will be necessary anymore. Rigadoun (talk) 01:38, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Act_esteban_batista.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:Act_esteban_batista.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. MER-C 05:07, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

David Navarro rumours[edit]

Neither Valencia CF or Racing Santander have officially stated that David Navarro (footballer) is due for a loan next season, as you have written on the player's article page. Please refrain from updating pages with rumours until it is possible to make a reference to an official statement, such as a comunicado on the club's pages or the inscription list on LFP.es - but NOT Altas y Bajas on Marca or AS!

Orphaned non-free image (Image:SD Eivissa.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SD Eivissa.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:56, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that you have redirected this template to Template:Infobox City Spain. However, the parameter names are not the same in the two templates, which means that articles on Catalan municipalities now have really ugly broken infoboxes. Also, a number of fair use images (coats of arms, for example) are now orphaned and at risk of deletion. Could you either revert your revision or ensure that all uses of the old template (see list here) are correctly replaced with the new one. If you wish to delete the old template, you should go through WP:TFD, which would have avoided this mess. Physchim62 (talk) 15:04, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just another question[edit]

Why did you remove Castilla's transactions? Raul17 18:45, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, why did you undo the Ian Harte edit? That info is from August 8th and the 3rd round of the Champions league transfer window closed on Wednesday, making the information invalid. -- A celtic supporter

A template you created, Template:Line 4 - Madrid Metro, has been marked for deletion as a deprecated and orphaned template. If, after 14 days, there has been no objection, the template will be deleted. If you wish to object to its deletion, please list your objection here and feel free to remove the {{deprecated}} tag from the template. If you feel the deletion is appropriate, no further action is necessary. Thanks for your attention. --MZMcBride 02:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Deportivo de La Coruña.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Levante Transfers[edit]

Hello Raymond! Why did you delete the Transfers-section on the Levante UD page? It would also have been nice if you had posted a comment on my page explaning your decision. You have also chosen to write your edit summary in spanish, wich maybe isn't so wise if you want people on english Wikipedia to understand your reasons. Cheers! Sebisthlm 16:04, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have reverted my Transfers in/out sub-paragraph for the second time (also this time without posting a comment on my page. It seems as if there is no given standard on whether such sections should be included or not, some pages have them and some don't. Some clubs have their own article on transfers, like Real Madrid. I, for one, think they help to clarify squad changes and help to keep track of players, who in some cases don't have an article of their own and otherwise can be hard to find. I have posted a question on Talk:WP:Football where you are welcome to participate. Sebisthlm 02:10, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deportivo La Coruña[edit]

I noticed that you deleted sections of the Depor history, citing "too much history" as your reasoning. Can you explain this reasoning to me, please? I would like to understand what you mean by too much. Too detailed?

Not only that, but if you're going to do a large edit, please include citations so that everyone can know where you got your information from. As far as I know, you just made all of that information up. Your citations can be in any language (but preferrably English or Spanish), but some would be nice. I will not revert now, as you have the right to respond, of course. Feel free to post here, my talk, or the Depor talk page. My first reaction is to revert because a more detailed history is actually a good thing. Feel free to note the level of detail in FA class pages such as Arsenal F.C. Thanks, Isaiah 17:38, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the more detailed history is better even if it has too many sub-paragraphs and is poorly sourced. The shorter history is not only equally poorly sourced, but has also an "unenyclopedic" feel to the language. I would vote revert and maybe post a "this article doesn't cite any sources" warning.
