June 2018[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Chrissymad. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Hurricane Carol have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising, as you did at Rhode Island in the American Civil War. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 18:28, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Chrissymad Those links are not vandalism. They are external links to the state of Rhode Island archives, and the articles are related to Rhode Island. — Maile (talk) 19:17, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I responded on my talk page. CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 19:20, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

One moment [edit]

Hey @Rcar01:, welcome to Wikipedia - while Chrissymad, Maile66 and yourself decide how best to deal with these links and your potential conflict of interest, could you stop adding the links? I'd really appreciate it, then you can all focus on sorting this out, and we don't want anyone to revert more than three times!

I think the discussion is happening over here. Let me know if I can help! - TNT 💖 19:29, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that adding links is not a minor edit Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:33, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
True about the "minor", but that was an error, not vandalism. However, I followed those links, and every one of them leads to the Secretary of State of Rhode Island, where they apparently have these archives. — Maile (talk) 19:49, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Does this mean the links are okay, Maile ?Rcar01 (talk) 19:53, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just to note, that as a non-COI editor, I have restored some of the ELs as I feel that they are useful to the reader and qualify under EL standards. By this action, I take ownership of those edits I restored. However, this should not be taken by Rcar01 as an indication that they should make further edits of a similar nature. Mentioned at ANI[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is School project for the State of Rhode Island. (notified on behalf of Maile66) - TNT 💖 20:17, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rcar01, please don't worry about replying to the above thread - this is more to let you know we're having a chat somewhere about if there's anything we can do to work with this situation. Please continue to follow the advice I gave you on my talk page. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you - TNT 💖 20:17, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
