List of Angolan people[edit]

I disagree with the speedy deletion (in this case, redirection) and am going to recreate the article and redirect List of Angolans to the page. I am adding a comprehensive list from the African People Database, including red linked articles in order to help potential editors if they desire to create Angolan biographical articles. As you can see at List of Liberian people, the article I was creating earlier will be far more comprehensive than the current List of Angolans.--Thomas.macmillan 20:26, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks, it is a big job indeed. On the speedy deletion tag, I didn't see the article until it had been redirected because of your note on my talk page. I will be sure not to miss anything, and if I do, please fix my mistake. Thanks--Thomas.macmillan 03:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the page you tagged for merging into julie christie already existed. If you wish you can show it as the main article for her filmography. Sushant gupta 06:11, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was also saying the same thing dude, what I thought is that you want the page to be moved from Julie christie filmography to julie christie. Don't get me wrong. Read the above message carefully. Sushant gupta 06:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since notability has been asserted in the article I have removed the speedy deletion tag (as well as moving it to the correct capitalization). If you still think the page should be deleted, please considering WP:AfD, as I don't think this is a clear speedy. Thanks! Natalie 18:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. There's definitely some possible reasons to delete, just not speedy ones. Natalie 20:24, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hardy Boys books AfD[edit]

I have added to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Running on Empty (Hardy Boys novel) additional nominations for the other simialr articles created at the same time by the same editor. You may wish to revisit the discussion in light of this. DES (talk) 05:26, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The page looks more like advertising to me, i cannot find anywhere which would suggest it is a copyvio. I'll leave it as is though, its your call whether it stays as copyvio, or is reverted back. Cheers, Jonomacdrones (talk) 18:13, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article on Eproctophilia[edit]

I did a search on the title and found that Eproctophilia is listed under the List of paraphilias in the Paraphilia article. However, it seems like there is original research, POV and not much else in the separate article. But the term does seem to exist. Just my two cents. Thanks and happy editing. --EarthPerson 20:23, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As hard as it is to believe, it seems to be legit. I Googled it and found reasonably reliable sources. While I was editing it to make it encyclopedic and adding citations, cats and a stub, and admin deleted the article. I backed up and got my text back and recreated the article. The only thing that concerns me now is that I'm shown as the original writer! Ugh! Thanks for the heads up. Realkyhick 20:44, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome.  :) Oddly enough, when I looked it up, I then followed Crush Fetish and made a useful link there. Well, useful, but distrubing.  :( --EarthPerson 20:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think I'm going to stay away from the paraphilia-related pages as long as I possibly can, unless I have an ample supply of sleeping pills. Realkyhick 20:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

speedy speedies[edit]

You know, I think it is probably not a good idea to place speeds on stubs the first 2 minutes they're created. Most of the time, the person intends to write more, or will be encouraged to by a tag like expand. Of course this doesnt apply to junk, butt here's a difference. DGG 06:48, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Which article are you referring to, David? I thought the only ones I'd given a quick tag to tonight were obvious vandals or spam. Realkyhick 06:51, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability Tag on I Ain't Been Shot, Mum![edit]

Hi, I believe you are the editor who originally put the notability tag on this article and since I am currently trying to improve it to show its notability and include more encyclopedic content, I was wondering if you could take a new look and make any comments (in the article or my own talk page, as you prefer) you may consider appropiate.

Thanks, Jack1968ES 16:32, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Realkyhick, thanks for your words since at least I now have some hint that we may be on the right path to improve Wikipedia, ;)
I'm afraid of asking you about this, but since the notability tag has been added a thousand times since you did initially, by what seems to be no other reason than restoring the original situation, could I tell that you (personally, with no reason for other editor to not express his/her concern about notability) would not issue that notability tag again?
Please consider my petition with extreme caution, since some editors are getting mad about the whole thing and you may find yourself in the middle of a storm without having done nothing at all.
My whole point is to have someone to talk to about the issue, not just a anonymous tag that keeps appearing with no explained reason
Anyway, and I'm writting too much, sorry, ;), I really appreciate your contribution and thank you again, no matter what you decide about my request.
Jack1968ES 18:24, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that was more than I expected and it gave me some helpful light about how Wikipedia should work after a mostly traumatic experience, ;)

Proposed deletion of Buxton (band) and Buxton (album)[edit]

I looked over the criteria for bands to be added to wikipedia. Here's what I found:

This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, and television documentaries...

Here's a link to a newspaper article about this notable band:

http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ent/music/local/3818625.html

I just spent an hour and a half adding these pages so please let me know what I can do to make them credible and keep them on wikipedia. This band has recently been signed to a label and is recording their third album. This isn't a fly-by-night local band. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Derek718 (talkcontribs) 07:13, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I sense some authoritarism[edit]

Supposedly, when an article it's debated for its notability, there is an amount of time in which the creator can point the reasons that make the article valuable or offer an explanation of its importance. Unfortunately, it appears that some people just won't hear these opinions and automatically delete the article without sharing points of view. At least the User:Metropolitan90 posted a deletion log but you just eliminated all of the article, including the discussion section, section in which I offered an explanation for the notability of the same. To me, it's simply authoritarism, with all the respect that you, as a wikipedian, deserve. I'll continue expanding Angela Pérez's article but please let's discuss this matter in our respective talk pages before attempting to any deletion. User:Mannschaftskapitän

  • Thanks for your answer. Yes, I'm actually discussing with other user the fact that the person in question is fairly young. The thing is that she has been achieving some recognition and has been pointed out as social scientist to watch in the future despite her age. Unfortunately, you won't find any kind of information on Internet search engines. My primary sources are local magazines and my own investigation as I have had the opportunity to meet her personally. Alright, she's not a celebrity, but information about her background, education and current activities surely attracts a group of social scientists of my country. For example, I have reviewed tons of biographical articles that are notable only in certain contexts and may be not notable for a wide portion of wikipedians. That's just my humble opinion. Thanks for the advice on the tags that I should use. Mannschaftskapitän 05:11, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I recently started a page that dealt with the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and the web. You instantly tagged it and within hours, before I could even get home to try and address some of the things you mentioned, you deleted it. Why? From the little time I had, one of the issues was historical significance. I did try to explain this but again, you deleted the pages without any thought or consideration. I find this puzzling especially in light that YOU have a Wikipedia page. What is your important historical significance, other than helping run a bible web site in Birmingham. You certainly didn't seem to quick to delete your own page. I would ask who made you God, judge and juror?

I can understand rules and procedures. It was my understanding though that Wikipedia is supposed to be 'about the people', with contributions from the people. When you give me less than 5 hours to make adjustments or changes, then rip out out my contribution, it ruins the experience. It makes me feel like this site is run by a bunch of Nazi like dictators.

Any comments or reasons for your actions would be appreciated. Especially in light of the fact that on your own Wikipedia page, I notice that you plugging away at your own 'Bible of God' web page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by scbr (talkcontribs)

Destin 00:52, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just unsalted this after deleting it twice as a speedy. If you look at the talkpage there is evidence they meet WP:MUSIC.--Isotope23 00:49, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Someone who has actually heard of this band has offered to clean up the article... that is why I unsalted it.--Isotope23 01:03, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing the links... I posted them in a hurry just to establish WP:MUSIC.--Isotope23 12:57, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is not misspelled. The fact that everyone thinks that it should be spelt with a double-S is what makes it somewhat notable. I know that we can't make an article out of it and that Wikipedia is not a dictionary, but I think the phrase is of enough interests that it warrants a soft redirect to Wiktionary. --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 03:12, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just learnt about them to, which is why I went and made one. Tonight you also learnt the correct spelling of "just deserts". The fact that almost everyone spells it with a double-S like it sounds is one of my little pet peeves, so I hope the soft redirect will make a small difference in the world. Happy editing! --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 03:38, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know where the AFDs you mentioned are? I don't see deletion logs on the particular pages I just deleted. coelacan — 16:49, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, I was just taking on good faith the reason for the speedy deletion posted on all but the last article User:RichRoach posted - on the last one, I posted a db-spam myself, but another editor speedied the rest. Having said that, this user would likely qualify for blocking even if these were posted for the first time, as it is obvious spam-bombing, even if all the articles are new. Realkyhick 16:52, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Righto. I've blocked for a week. If I can find AFDs, I'm going to reblock indefintely. I'll go ask the users who placed the wp:csd#g4 tags. Thanks for your help, coelacan — 16:55, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cremation in Singapore[edit]

Of the articles in the NUS Scholars Programme, the history of cremation in Singapore seems to be one of the better ones. I don't know how you can call it OR when it has such a list of references. I feel this one needs AfD if you don't like it. (Copyvio is a different matter, if can prove copyvio, it can be speedied.)

Note that it is not a case of many of them deleted - I think it is more a case of many not yet written - so there is a need to watch and possibly nip some, like Convenience Shops in Singapore in the bud. -- RHaworth 20:19, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You left your AfD of History of cremation in Singapore incomplete: I completed it. Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/History of cremation in Singapore and insert whether you want History of cremation in Singapore deleting or not. Anthony Appleyard 20:59, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From radiohelmet re: Herb Vest[edit]

New here, but I'm not sure why Mr. Herb Vest is not notable enough for a bio. According to Wikipedia's criteria for notability of people he meets the following: 1) The person has been the subject of published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject. 2)The person has received significant recognized awards or honors. 3)The person has demonstrable wide name recognition. 4)The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field.

Your help in understanding would be appreciated.

Thend's Articles[edit]

Looks like we're having some trouble, as every article I post you've recommended for deletion, regardless that they meet the necessary criteria for addressing the importance of the bands and musicians. And http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4638104075215193069&q=ryan+pape is a source to cite the relevance of the CT band's article.

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Matt Sanchez, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Asking you about the Deletion of ===Super Kaleb=== and Red the Tiger.[edit]

Sir, I understand that you are trying to do your job, but I don't understand something. You said that my article was blanatly advertising or something like that. You also said that Red the Tiger was unnoteable ( Did I spell it right?). Here are my complainants with those statements.

  1. The Super Kaleb article was doing the same thing as the Pac-Man article.
  2. The Pac-Man article never recieved a tag. In fact, many of game passages actually tell you how to beat this game, and some give you cheat codes. That is not fitting to be in a encyclopedia, but you left it.
  3. The Browser article does the same thing as my Red the Tiger article. It never received a tag.

I do have more complaints, but I have to go. Please mail me back at User:Kaleb parham.

Articles for deletion/Wild Law (book)[edit]

Thank you for your comments on the AfD page for this book. I was happy to establish the notability of the book but I am perplexed by your comments and some the others left there and would appreciate your advice on how I might improve the article further. The comments I refer to are:

"until the "spammy" feeling can be dealt with, I have to go with weak delete"
"It needs cleanup"
"too promotional in nature"

Articles for deletion/Future Naval Gunfire Support[edit]

This section needs a massive cleanup or total rewrite but the convtroversies do in fact exist. While I won't support a thing on that page as being worthy of keeping for more than a few days it does serve to keep the section alive long enough for me to consider and rewrite which is my plan for Sunday. If it doesn't changing to something more than whining about the loss of the Iowa's (its already happened) then it shouldn't be retained but the arguments for a heavy gun system are valid and much of the information is worth keeping.

Hold thy hand but for a few, yes its nausiating and yes I am going to address it.

Being more specific about the deletion of Super Kaleb[edit]

Again, I understand your point. However, I must be more specific, because I am guessing that you did not understand my point.

The Pac-Man article explains the rules of the game, the split screen level, and major things he has appeared in, such as magazines, games, ect. The Marvel section tells major characters, how the company got started, ect. The Super Kaleb article, if you read it, tells about his powers, enemies, games, comics, ect.

Also like the articles above, I am using my website to advertise my idea, and I am using other websites to advertise that. I only made an article, because one day, my character will become popular, and I wanted to make an article, so when it does become popular, all someone had to do was "twege" it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.173.146.144 (talk)
