Canon ES-100 picture[edit]

This is odd. I can clearly see the model number "ES-100" on the unit pictured. However Canon's web site says the "ES-100" was a handheld camcorder. http://global.canon/en/c-museum/product/8mmvc385.html However that model designation seems to be unique to the USA market; in Europe that camcorder was called the UC2000. So perhaps the ES-100 VCR only had that model number in Europe? Maybe it would be better to use a picture of the Sony EV-S1 to avoid ambiguity. Jeh (talk) 22:24, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Canon ES-100 picture[edit]

Very Interesting... I found this machine at a thrift shop awhile back. After peeking inside the unit, I found that all of the circuit boards and IC chips seem to bear the SONY name. Try this. The Actual number on the bottom of the VCR is ES-100A. Not just ES-100. BTW, The only notable difference is the color of the plastic and the fact that the EV-S1 has a DC in port... the Canon does not. I think the picture doesn't really create an ambiguity. When I first read the article, I actually got the impression that SONY was really the only company involved in the Video 8 VCR project. Seeing the Canon variation adds a level of credibility to the whole "Video 8 as a home and rental media" topic because it showcases that other brands were interested in the project namely Canon and Pioneer among others. This is important. It wasn't a sole war between SONY and JVC. I appreciate your interest in the photo and the machine.
