Welcome[edit]

Hi, Redriv. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  01:55, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!

Disambiguation link notification for September 10[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Oppland (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:47, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just got the "This section's use of external links may not follow Wikipedia's policies or guidelines." message for the Parishes in Oppland. Footnotes seem inappropriate for this section. Should I just delete this section, or how can I fix it.

Våler, Norway[edit]

Hi, bit confused about your edit. You seem to have made it by copying over the text from the Våler, Hedmark article. Why do you want the text copied over? I might be able to help, but normally if an article needs to move location it's moved, not copied because we need to preserve the history of the article. Blythwood (talk) 03:20, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's an explanation of this here, by the way. Bit involved (it's for administrators) but the first paragraph lays out the issues. If you want a page moved (not duplicated) and don't know what to do you can ask an expert for help here. Hope that makes sense! Blythwood (talk) 03:32, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As I need to go and wanted to get things to some kind of resolution, I've proposed both moved articles for deletion. Once again, this isn't a reflection on you, just that I need to head out! And I realise I may have misunderstood the situation (I don't speak Norwegian)-if you think the original articles should be moved you can ask an expert for help here. I've held back as you may want to request a bulk move for every municipality being transferred if that's what's happening. Blythwood (talk) 04:05, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Redriv (talk) 04:25, 2 January 2020 (UTC) Please go ahead and make the proposed changes. All I really wanted to do was change the page title from Våler, Hedmark to Våler, Norway. I can't delete the page because I'm not an Administrator. I read the instructions you sent and will follow them next time to move the page to a new title. The other municipalities do not have this problem and shouldn't need a bulk move.[reply]
Sure, no problem. Generally, to move a page, you go to top right (on a PC-I don't know about mobile), click "More" and then "Move". These two pages are an exception and can't be moved by that method, as there's a page at the desired destination. I've requested a move for them as discussed above, and you should be getting a notification about that now. Incidentally, on the Innlandet article, when you list "List of Former Municipalities", were these municipalities ever even a part of Innlandet, even for a day? Or is it more appropriate to list them as municipalities not transferred to Innlandet, or something like that? Blythwood (talk) 05:11, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for your help and I did find the Move command on the upper right of my PC as you mentioned. The former municipalities were supposed to be a part of their history and their link article sometimes mentions how and why they were discontinued, often hundreds of years ago. I'm going to check all of their links today because I think some of them may have problems. Thanks again for your help.Redriv (talk) 13:51, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Notice

The article Våler, Norway has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Cut-and-paste move of Våler, Hedmark, apparently due to a local government reorganisation moving the municipality from Hedmark to Innlandet region. I've tried to clarify with page creator but haven't had a response yet. Might be appropriate to move that article to this location but I don't understand Norwegian so can't confidently say.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied text from Våler, Norway to Våler, Hedmark (your addition has since been removed). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. If you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:53, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you and I'll look at the info you sent me. I didn't think it was possible to rename a Wikipedia article from Våler, Hedmark to Våler, Norway. I thought I had read where that was prohibited. Another admin directed me to the Move command which allowed me to rename the article. He deleted the old article and Moved it for me. That satisfied my need because I really didn't want to copy anything. Thanks again and your info will help me in the future with some other projects.Redriv (talk) 16:32, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Asker og Bærum, a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:40, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Asker og Bærum[edit]

Hello, Redriv. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Asker og Bærum".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Lapablo (talk) 09:02, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Content you added to the above article appears to have been copied from http://www.griggscountyhistoricalsociety.com/online/griggs_county_centennial/bartley_township/bartley_township_history.php, which is not released under a compatible license. Copying text directly from a source is a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Content you add to Wikipedia should be written in your own words. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions. — Diannaa (talk) 22:42, 24 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tyrol Township, Griggs County, North Dakota requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.webfamilytree.com/Griggs_County_Centennial/tyrol_township/tyrol_township_history.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:05, 25 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Reksthegn requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
